  1. Stole the thread title from HVI but not the concept. For any former wrestlers on here, what is the night before your biggest competition like? Biggest doesn't have to be NCAAs. Whatever your biggest was. As a swimmer, it took all my effort to contain my pent up energy. After months of over training and breaking my body down with 7 -10 mile days, I would begin my taper about three weeks out. The last workout was just a glorified warm up. And without an avenue to burn up the energy, I was buzzing. But we were under strict instructions to just chill. That was tough. At night, it was time to shave. From chin to toes, except for the median, it was smooth as silk and ready for slip streaming. Sleep was tough, it took meditation to fall asleep. Concentrate on relaxing each muscle one at a time and blank out the mind. In the morning it was eggs, and LET'S FREAKIN GO.

  2. What are you on about? This is exactly how things should work for the NCAA Tournament. Qualify, test the injury...withdraw if you can't go. Alternates are ready for this reason.

  3. Hey everyone, I've finally gotten around to putting my D1 database on a website. It's by far the most comprehensive database you are going to find. I'm working on getting some others up. Over the next few months I hope to get my D2, D3, NAIA, NJCAA up and running too. You can now mess around with where I get all my info from. I have also put up the WCWA, International Worlds, Pan-ams, and a few states too. Wrestling.Guru Notice the domain is not a .com but a .guru

  5. I think we all know what this is about. Putting aside personal grudges against any of these guys - isn't it time for wrestling to band together to stand for what's right? Let's get our legal resources in the wrestling community on the case. Cornell has good lawyers I heard. Also - Nick Lee's dad? Let's stand alongside those who were brave enough to call out what happened

  17. Does Trump not own properties more than sufficient for the bond? There is the collateral. But this is political and I agree with Off that they don't want to inject themselves into that. Is the 450Million fine justified? If it keeps Trump off the ballot yes. If it bankrupts Trump yes. And that folks, is the reason for the unjustified amount levied. To get Trump. Not for what he's done in the business square, but for what he's done in the political square. That is unjustified persecution of a single man for what he represents. This is not blind justice. The judge had it out for him from the beginning. I don't think anyone thought such a heinous levy would be imposed. And to tie appeal to bond is ridiculous. That is unjustified. mspart

  19. if it wasn't clear prior, it's now official. you ain't bright. your justification for not vetting and massive violence by illegal immigrants is that at one time the US government might have done bad things in their native country? that's your rationale?

  20. You haven’t established that that’s what happened. And you can’t, because there’s no proof that anything would be different for the people of any country that the U.S. has interacted with. If the people were sold out, they were sold out by their own leaders, just like us. A very similar bill of goods was sold to Venezuelans by the socialist Hugo Chavez. He ejected all the American oil companies and soon after oil production diminished. It has never recovered. Here you can see what it was like before, and what it is like now. Something went wrong, can you tell what it was?

  25. I have great respect for Coach Manning and I love his passion for his guys. Still I find it extremely ironic that he of all people is complaining about Cael not reporting fully that Suriano had an ankle problem in 2017 and may be less than open about CS's status now. In 2013 he famously had a great athlete break his ankle 6 weeks before the World Championships and kept it totally quiet - if I remember correctly he did not even let the American alternate (Kyle Dake or his coach R Koll) in on it. Now that time JB was able to accomplish one of the most amazing things ever done in the sport by winning the WC without being able to train in a normal way for 6 weeks leading up to it. For Manning to now complain that Cael is essentially doing for his guys what Manning did for JB in that instance is a little hard to accept.

  29. Say what you will but Manning is a hell of a coach. Are you saying that if he sees a situation being handled completely different than it has been in his many many years in the business he should say nothing? If Starocci won last week Lewis would have been the two seed wrestling the 3 seed in the semis. Now he gets Starocci…effectively relegating him to the 4 seed. Anybody should see the problem here.

  31. I’d argue that “D1 reserves smoking good D2/D3 wrestlers” is mostly referring to reserves from the top 15 or so teams. “Good D2/D3 wrestlers” can often beat or at least compete with the bottom third of D1 teams’ starters (who would also get beat by the reserves from the top 15 or so teams).

  35. Aaron Brooks Mistakes Stadium for Mosque: Misses on Opportunity for Fourth Title Kansas City, March 24, 2024 In a hilarious mix-up that left bystanders amused and Aaron embarrassed, a college wrestler, Aaron Brooks, mistakenly confused a bustling stadium for a mosque during a recent event. The incident occurred last night at T-Mobile Center, one of Kansas City's most iconic sports and entertainment venues. Aaron, known for his fervent passion to win a fourth title, had eagerly anticipated Saturday night's finals. However, what unfolded was an unexpected twist of events that had Aaron seeing the world through a different lens. As crowds flooded into the stadium, Aaron, caught up in the excitement of the moment, failed to notice the telltale signs that he was not entering a sports arena but rather a place of worship. Ignoring the architectural cues and the absence of a wrestling mat, he confidently made his way inside, his mind filled with visions of having his hand raised. It wasn't until Aaron found himself surrounded by rows of individuals engaged in quiet prayer, their heads bowed in reverence, that the realization of his mistake dawned upon him. Shocked and embarrassed, Aaron attempted to blend in with the worshippers, but his unmistakable sports attire made him stand out like a sore thumb in the serene atmosphere of the mosque. Witnesses to the amusing incident couldn't help but chuckle at the sight of the bewildered athlete amidst the congregation. However, rather than causing offense, Aaron's unintentional intrusion sparked laughter and camaraderie among those present. "It was definitely an unexpected moment of levity," remarked Salman Ahmed, one of the worshippers who witnessed Aaron's blunder. "We were in the midst of our prayers when suddenly this guy walks in wearing a Penn State track suit. We couldn't help but find it amusing." Despite his initial embarrassment, Aaron was met with kindness and understanding from the mosque's attendees, who reassured him that everyone makes mistakes. He was invited to join them for tea, where he shared laughter and stories with his newfound friends. Reflecting on the incident, Aaron expressed gratitude for the warm reception he received and vowed to pay closer attention to his surroundings in the future. "It was definitely a memorable experience," Aaron admitted with a sheepish grin. "I'll be sure to double-check where I'm going next time, but hey, at least it gave everyone a good laugh." As Aaron's accidental adventure came to an end, it served as a reminder of the importance of embracing diversity and finding humor in life's unexpected moments – whether they occur on the wrestling mat or in the halls of a mosque.

  43. Look up the 3/5 compromise. Which party supported slavery more? Which party is bringing in illegal immigrants like never before? What is the obvious reason in both cases? Power. Have you heard the common justification for illegal immigrants that they do the harder work for less money? What did President Johnson say about getting votes for the next 200 years? Which party has held back families through government welfare? The answer is what it is. The demographic party can what about… but the answer is what it is. Great on some topics; bad on illegal immigration and prosper from those most in need.
