I don't think it is good for the sport for UVU to be pillaging other schools like this. After PSU invests in them UVU just swoops in and takes them. It aint right.9 points

Sounds like a transfer to Ohio State is in the works because they don't work on escapes in high-pressure situations8 points

It's a lot of fun to do if you are thinking about it Rodent. I can't say I did good, but it was fun. I was bound and determined I would not lose due to passivity, so I initiated action and my inexperience and lack of ability got me in trouble from there. But I had a blast doing it. mspart7 points

Davino, Forrest, and Blaze - we have three out of four semifinalists at 57 KG with all four years of eligibility remaining. could be a golden age at lightweights if they all stay down6 points

In spite of the fact that it ended with the biggest upset of the tournament, 285 was the most chalk weight. The sum of absolute deviations from seed was 77, just ahead of 125 at 81.5. This also made the heavies the second most chalk weight since the 33 seed era began. Only 165 in 2019 was more chalk. At the other end of the spectrum 141 was the most busted bracket this year (but only sixth most in the 33 seed era). A lot of the "bust" came from five of nine guys seeded to go 0-2 finishing with win(s), and three higher seeded wrestlers doing the opposite.6 points

2011: Burroughs beat Nick Marable at the 2011 US Open immediately after NCAAs then beat him again at WTT. Dake chose to go to Univeristy Natl's where he got 2nd to Howe, then DNP at WTT. 2012: *Burroughs ran through the 2012 Olympic Team Trials where there were no byes 2013: Burroughs beat David Taylor at the 2013 US Open (Dake didn't compete) and then beat Dake at WTT. 2014 Burroughs won the US Open over Taylor then beat him 2x more at WTT. Dake did not compete at either due to injury. 2015 Burroughs got a bye to the finals and then beat Dake 2x under new direct bye rules. 2016 Burroughs became the real Magic Man when everyone disappeared from 74kg. He won the olympic spot, Dake fell short at 86. However Burroughs did not medal, therefore no direct bye in 2017. 2017 Burroughs once again beats Dake at the US Open, gets a bye at WTT, and then stop me if you have heard this before but JB beat Dake to make the world team. 2018 UWW creates a new 79kg weight class and Dake finally gets a chance to make his mark as he makes his first world team and first world championship. Both win medals. 2019 Dake and JB both enjoy byes to the finals, win spots and world medals 2020ne OTT JB gets the direct bye as the returning 74 medalist, Dake gets a bye to the semis as the 79 medalist and proceeds to snatch Nolf's soul on live television. Dake finally wins. JB and Dake switch weights for a couple years until 2024 OTT where Dake gets the finals bye, JB gets a bye to the semis and loses to Nolf meanwhile NLWC/PSU fans show their true colors. Dake had plenty of chances over the years, he just didn't capitalize on them.6 points

F'n Davis, still can't hit a leg attack when he needs to: "After a struggle, Davis was subdued by police. Police noted that after the struggle, Davis broke the officer’s wristwatch and radio earpiece, and ripped the body camera out of the officer’s vest."6 points

This actually makes the kid more likeable. Not one of those Jesus-crazed robots that fill out the rest of the PSU roster. What's more concerning is that he was taken down and ridden out by a cop.6 points

Nothing. He just talked about his injury (torn ACL), when it happened (sometime before collegiate duals, but was exacerbated at collegiate duals, what the rest of the season was like and how limited he was (tough and very), and talked about future plans to compete after he's fully recovered. It will be in Missouri, at least according to the interview. There was nothing "announced".5 points

Someone likely can do a better job …. If wrestler A attempts a throw and lifts the other wrestler, but the throw doesn’t work as intended and the other wrestler does not land in danger or otherwise no criteria is reached that would earn points for wrestler A, the ref can say hey … wrestler A tried, good for him. 2 pts! Ridiculous. You can tell by my description that I’m biased against it.4 points

I did Veterans FS from 2000-2002. It was fun. They look a lot slower, but I found out I was a lot slower as well. It all evens out. They used to have guys in the F division that did not look good at all. Kudos for getting out there but scary due to injury possibilities. Fortunately, they were not that quick or strong so danger was not high. But falling down could be a problem. I am now in the E category. I hurt my shoulder wrestling and my neck in a car accident. I don't do the competition anymore. They all outclass me anyway. But I did continue asst coaching HS until a few years ago. mspart4 points

I want to expand on my answer a bit. Do you people in Intermat hate nerds? No one on this message board is nerdier than I am. If you look at any of my content it is all about the math and probabilities. While I do not get universal love, I get damn near universal love for that content. But who would want universal love anyway? That would be boring and not help you to grow. I have found this community to be VERY open to new ideas and ways of looking at things. Be original and interesting and no one will care if you are a nerd. Am I gonna get bullied and ostracized? In Intermat? Sure a little, but that depends. You will find that you do not agree with every point of view or every method of expressing them. This will bother you a lot at first. But after a while it will bother you less. When it is bothering you the most you will be tempted to engage. But engaging is a choice. If you do not engage people tend to leave you alone. And if people get really unreasonable, the mods do a good job of banning people, or putting them on pause for a while. In the wider world? Sure. We all get bullied to some extent. But I think wrestling is very accepting of hard work. Hard work is easy to see and even easier to respect. Take a guy like Mitchell Mesenbrink. He is as nerdy as you will find in wrestling, but he is also respected for his high attack rate and mental approach.4 points

After updating the scoring model I decided to looking into why the shifts that occurred had occurred. I was really focused on the seeds in the twenties and thirties as there was some expected smoothing out in that area. And sure enough, the #22, #23, #25, and #29 seeds all had their best ever performance. Though the #27, #31, and #32 had their worst performance ever. But what really jumped out was the #4, #5, and #6 seeds had their worst performance in the 16+ seed era. And it wasn't even close for the #5 seed. This year the 5 seed produced only 3 All-Americans. That is tied for the lowest total ever in the 8 AA era (1979 - 2025). In 1980, when there were also only 3 AA's from the #5 seed they finished second, fourth, and eighth. This year they finished fifth, fifth, and eighth. No #5 seed beat his seed. This year the #12 seed had more AA's (5) than the #5 seed (3). That had never happened before.4 points

My understanding is they pushed him out because they wanted to give Keegan O'Toole a full-time coaching job and I'm assuming to make sure he stays after graduation. With Tyrel, they used the rational that as the top assistant it was time for him to find a head coaching position... and they helped out by taking his current job. Tyrel is the salt of the earth and an outstanding coach; anyone suggesting that he did anything to deserve this is just trying to make excuses for a pretty lousy way to treat someone.4 points

IMO He’s a d1 Capable wrestler but I’m not sure he’s convinced himself of that. I watched him over the last few years go from a kid who could handle a Gavin Sax (and knew it), to the gap closing, to losing to him (seemingly confused as to how) to having to switch weights when Sax transferred to Oklahoma. Sax get better? Yep. Coaching? Maybe, but they’ve both had Kish and another coach. Mindset? Probably IMO. With what time he has left find a place that makes it fun and then let it fly.4 points

Well...not Schultz...but sure. I would think if you're bulking up, you're probably going to try and get up to ~220-225 while lifting and just not cutting weight(it's about as big as I can imagine Brooks getting). So maybe he just doesn't want to cut at all, even a relatively easy cut. I'm like 99% sure you can still be tested even if you're not competing though, so I doubt that's the reason. Some bigger conspiracy. Like Cael, a guy who doesn't drink Coffee is running some big roid ring for his Wrestlers and scheduling competition around it? Seems...a bit silly.3 points
