Hilton High School in Rochester claims Yianni, Greg Diakomihalis, Lou DePrez, and Sam DePrez as current D1 wrestlers. The upcoming (2/10) dual between Cornell and Binghamton is being held at Hilton to honor Yianni and Lou, both of whom are seniors. Lou out, Greg D. out with shoulder surgery, so only with Sam and Yianni, not quite the celebration they had hoped for. Still, a nice gesture on the part of all involved.4 points

you're objecting to someone pointing out a bad call, its just bizarre. Do you have any evidence you are dealing with iowa fans BTW? That assumption is another tip that you are approach this from some warped partisan angle...2 points

Billy Baldwin is sad. joking aside, sorry to hear. Is there another brother still on the team? Quite a history with that team and family.2 points

Doh!!! I was even looking at the name and mispelled it. I could blame it on my keyboard. I think I will. Not user error, was equipment error. That's my story and I sticking to it!!! mspart2 points

The play-by-play guy claimed Renteria was in a danger position and had DeAugustino caught on his back. The math doesn't add up, but he clearly thought Renteria earned 4 NF, stating "that's 4 big points for Renteria". I was waiting for the confusion to set in, but it never really did.2 points

I apologize, I don’t recall the OP, but on TheMat in the 2018 southern scuffle thread [Nolf destroys Finesilver, pins him in 0:51 in the finals.] “You see, what Finesilver did wrong there was, winning his semi-final” Good line that one.2 points

A bit hyperbolic on the first assertion. Unquestionably correct on the second.1 point

This debt is inevitable. Since the budget was last balanced > 20 years ago we have spent multi trillions on wars, faced an unprecedented financial crisis costing trillions and the pandemic. The response? Thoughts and prayers, a ballooning GINI index, finger pointing and massive tax cuts.1 point

Hilton is a smallish suburb west of Rochester proper - but their wrestling legacy is off the charts in the past 10-15 years of so.1 point

It is more understandable with the TD. I just hope for better and more consistent calls on ESC.1 point

I only said it half joking that Hamiti shot because he heard the ref call the 1. It just irks me that refs make the call for the ESC and then walk it back based on what happens after they have decided on the 1. You ever see this on a call for a FALL? Same ref could have waived off his own FALL based on the same logic he used to waive off his ESC, but that never happens. The solution is to not give the 1pt until you are certain it happened, and once you call it then it stands.1 point

Locks: Iowa @ 125 - 6 for Lee PSU @ 133 - 3 for RBY Iowa @ 149 - 3 for Murin PSU @ 174 - 3 for CStar PSU @ 184 - 3 for Brooks So 9-9 based on locks, assuming no further bonus. Toss-up: 141: but Woods favored 157: only if Haines wrestles, otherwise Iowa strong favorite 165: but Kennedy favored 197: Dean slight favorite HWT: Cass favored based on recent results1 point

But you picked Haines to win. Talk about hedging/ridiculousness. All you need to be right is to predict all possible outcomes.1 point

Ref blew another call imo. He awarded Hamiti an ESC and then when Hamiti shot back in he waived off the ESC. Once you make that call and the wrestler can hear it and reacts to it then you shouldn't waive it off. I mean, ref thought it was an ESC, so it was an ESC. The fact he shot right back ... Hamiti was penalized there. That call on the pin was lightening quick. Touch fall, not 1 second at all.1 point

Thoughts from Frost arena on the dual 125 - Quick pin for Cronin. He looked healthy and shot off a cannon. Slick cradle. He looked like an AA contender today. Pin Cronin 133- Dryden is loooonngg. Neither guy did much. Cardinal did not really threaten Boo. Dec Dryden (4-1 I believe) 141- Coin flip match. Hardy got riding time by 1 or 2 seconds to push the match to OT and had a nice Td in OT. 141 has parity from 4-19 ranked guys. Dec Hardy 7-5 OT 149- Dominant performance by Martin. Neither guys was very high level but Martin is coming along nicely. Maj Dec Martin 8-0 157- Robb is just so tough. Wish he would have kept his original commitment to SDSU went Bono left. Swenson hung in and wrestled him as tough as you could have hoped for. Dec Robb 8-2 I believe 165- Mr. Gator Bacon Tanner Cook does it again with a 30 second pin. Guys know it’s coming and just can’t stop it. Pin Cook 174- Labs controlled the match. Very dominate 4-0 finish. Devos was in deep in a single but that’s only half the battle with Labs who passes the leg better than anyone, ask Mekhi Lewis. Dec Labbs 4-0 184- Another coin flip match. Pinto is going to be very solid for the Huskers the coming years. Maj Dec Pinto 11-2 (was 5-2 and King tried throw with 10 seconds left) 197- The version of Sloan that wrestled today can win an NCAA title. Allred has a ways to go to end up on the podium. Dec Sloan 12-0 HWT- Nebraska kid hung in there much better than anticipated and almost stole one from Nevills. Nevills gets it done in OT. Dec Nevills 5-3 OT Nebraska 22- SDSU 17 Atmosphere in Frost was great today. A decent amount of Huskers fans made the trip to watch the dual. If you have never been to a dual at Frost Arena, it’s worth the trip. Go Jacks!1 point
