According to Jordan himself, David Taylor and the staff saved his life. https://www.ocolly.com/sports/wrestling/jordan-williams-reflects-on-how-osu-coaches-saved-my-life/article_4a038ae4-e4a4-11ef-9422-3fb4ae44f7a9.html3 points

What, you think THAT is a story about moaning on the mat? I'm going on a rant. This was way back when I was 11. I was wrestling in the finals of an open tournament against one my teammates. My teammate had beaten me 4-2 in a ranking match a couple weeks before and I was now a scrub at 97 pounds. At the tournament I was seeded 4th and my teammate (Pat) was seeded 2nd, and the #1 seed was a dude who was unbeaten and who pinned my teammate the week before. I hammered my first couple opponents and was in the semifinals against the unbeaten kid. I pinned him in the 2nd period after getting a good lead, which shocked everybody. I was a pretty good wrestler but I had a few losses on my record. Anyway, I wrestled Pat in the finals. About halfway through the first period I got in deep on a double leg, picked him up completely and not so gently deposited him on the mat. Not a slam, but not a gentle deposit. I took him down straight to his back and flattened his shoulder blades to the mat. He started bawling, not just crying but loudly bawling, and the referee immediately stopped the match. Everybody and their mother came out onto the mat to make sure Pat was okay. They gently brushed the tears from his cheeks, and the referee restarted the match. I didn't get a takedown. I didn't even get a 3 point nearfall. I got screwed out of at least 5 points. After they'd refreshed Pat and let him get his composure the ref RESTARTED the match from that point in the first period 0-0 in the neutral position. It was as if the 10 seconds where I took Pat to his back no longer existed. Pat "won" the rest of the match, 4-3. I think that was the first time I got screwed by refs, but it certainly wasn't the last.3 points

Angel Rivera gets to officiate big matches, and the Big10 announcers generally say he is a good ref. That said, I do not like it when he is officiating. It seems like there is always some controvery with his calls, and I think he injects himself too much into the matches. There seem to always be issues with restarts. This is my personal opinion, which may are may not be correct. I wonder what others think.2 points

Nothing against the kid, I respect all wrestlers except for Mr. FastAssault and Mr. Hollywood, but I would much rather not watch Nelson grind out a 2-1 win ever again.2 points

A little fast and loose. Joe Smith won the wrestle off with Chandler Rogers.2 points

It reminds me of the Joe Smith debacle when John started his boy, who got seeded #33 at NCAAs due to a lack of matches, when he should've just stuck with the 2 time AA that had wrestled all year.2 points

Kolat and Bassett were both held back and graduated/will graduate high school at 19. Kyle Snyder was a junior world champion in high school and senior world champion at 19. That's all you need to know for who the best high school wrestler ever was. Schultz probably is #2. The Chris Phillips talk is misplaced. He was an insanely talented HS freshman, but that was the year that he likely peaked. I wouldn't put him in the same conversation as Kolat or Bassett.2 points

He has had more than one offer and has chosen to stay. Stanford has offered him I believe twice. Wyoming just moved to 10-6 on the year, beating #20! Also, just want to point out that UW football is home to the NFL MVP! Laramie is not for everyone but a place where you can fulfill your dreams with hard work! Go2 points

Musk has no power. He advises Trump. Trump decides to take that advice or not. You hate musk. And you hate Trump. We get it. Take a nap. It’s liberating. It’s also out of your control. Elections matter. Your party ran a crapola campaign and is responsible for your current anger towards team red. You didn’t acknowledge or care about the 4 year shyte show your party put the country through. You defended it. You condoned it. The American people didn’t like it and voted the shyte show out of town. Now you have what you have and it bothers you down in the depths of your soul. It consumes you. It’s probably unhealthy for you. I worry you will have a heart attack. See a doctor. I don’t believe I said most of congress. Go find and quote that.2 points

As a junior Kolat went to the old Midlands tournament when it was much tougher than the NCAA tournament at the time. He finished 3rd. Beating several all-americans along the way. The Midlands back then had current, and past all-americans in the weight classes. NCAA Champions struggled to place in the tournament. One other thing, did Kolat take one or two grey shirts like Bo Bassett. Bo is very good by why did he take two grey shirts. He is 4 months older as a junior in high school then I was a freshman in college. I will go with junior Kolat wins by 8 over Junior Bo.2 points

Where's Logan Stieber? Lost one match in high school, his freshman year to a sophomore David Taylor. Also placed third at the US Open and fourth at the WTT as a junior in high school. Can't get much better than that.1 point

I'm pretty sure Metcalf won a controversial first match at the Medina invitational, Dustin Schlatter won the rematch at senior nationals. But they did split. I am biased, but believe Schlatter was better.1 point

This is the main point. It is immoral to give away our granchildren's work/money/energy/property to make ourselves think we are virtuous. If we had a budget surplus then, perhaps (only perhaps because I do not see foreign welfare authorized in the Constitution) we can give it away to foreigners. But absolutely not when we have a runaway deficit. Absolutely not.1 point

That looks more like he re-split the place he split the other night, than concussion to me.1 point

Shoot, thought it might work. I wouldn’t worry about Haines. Kasak…a little. Davis very much, and not just whatever injury this is. I’ve said before I think this’ll be his last year as a starter and wrestling in the NCAA tournament for Penn State. Something is off1 point
-
If I was Cael I'd be worried about Haines not being able to get bonus points on a guy Danny Braunagel teched. So that, plus Kasak getting hurt and Davis gives Cael some things to worry about.1 point

Up to them. Not a rule, just a process. EIWA sort of uses them but different formula.1 point

fined 1mil by NCAA...Iowa needs to dip into Bos money to pay fine...Bo gets pissed and flips to Penn State1 point

Both are true... he had a hard time getting to 165...he looked out of shape out there at 174. The Big 12 bracket initially had Rogers in it as the #3 seed then got redrawn with Smith as the #8. Of course he was going to get the wrestle off because it's family, but having Rogers there all season, earning the allocation would have been the best move, especially in hindsight. Another storyline was that Rogers bumped up to 174 in the Iowa dual at the end of the season and got a pin, but he wasn't given the opportunity to bump up against Jacobe to earn the 174 spot the same that Joe was able to move down and challenge.1 point

I don't believe Phillips wrestled much Freestyle of Greco...but I think he won a Cadet Title heading into HS. So as an 8th grader...he got a stop sign. Not sure he got anymore(or tried to get any more). I know he had a pretty epic run as a Freshmen in the Ironman beating Zac Thomusseit, and Brian Roddy who was the #1 ranked '71 in the Country...and it wasn't that close. He didn't major Roddy, but I remember he had several near TDs on the edge and controlled the match. I wanna say it was a 9-3 type match.1 point

1000% wrong. He was in Stilly a lot and is very close to Daton and Zo. He at one point was going to transfer to Stillwater HIgh to finish out his highschool career. DT helps, but he is not the only reason.1 point

DOGE is stupid because it allows non-elected actors access to government data and functions without proper oversight. It's not because it is a Democrat or Republican thing - it's just that is is incredibly effing stupid at a non-partisan level. And, as they take action, their first order of business is to further decrease any potential oversight. They'll be working in the shadows. Even the name DOGE should give anyone and everyone pause. The crypto coin that Elon openly manipulated to increase his fortune illegally without any legal implications. Another wealthy white guy getting a free pass. Even Vivek Ramaswamy was smart enough to get the hell out of that mess when he saw what it really was. I would encourage everyone to dig into this deeper. Musk is a lot like Trump, both are always on offense and care little about covering their tracks. The truth is out there, if anyone cares enough to look.1 point

Beat three nationally ranked guys in the same day. Didn't have a close match. The Monroeville Four, Logan Steiber, Hunter Steiber, Cam Tessari and Phillips. HS record of 579-9 all nine losses at Ironman. Phillips was a Fargo champ in 2007 I believe. Not sure beyond that...1 point

It's not the only reason, but if you think that a junior high kid who isn't familiar with the sport isn't offput by wearing a singlet in front of his classmates, you are mistaken. It has always been, and will continue to be a barrier to bringing fringe kids into the sport.1 point
