Funny how some like to misdirect and argue semantics when they realize their opinion on a topic is absolutely asinine. Someone asking when is the last time someone in our military died for our freedoms is such a weak and feeble thought process it isn't even worth discussing. Talk about entitled and privileged. All the reasons people can sit here behind a computer screen and spew this ridiculous crap is all thanks to the fine men and woman who unselfishly serve our country to ensure our freedoms are never taken from us. And they sit there and spit in their face. I know I said I wish the idiot who asked about the last time someone died for our freedoms should say it to my brothers face, but I know exactly what he would say because he is a great humble human being....he would say "It was my honor to serve so you can have the ability to say and ask the questions that you do without repercussion."3 points

This chart shows how expensive wind and solar energy are if you include all the costs: There is much, much more at the link. Wind and solar developments have been sold on the basis of financial claims that are outright fraudulent. We can hope that one of these days, “greens” will be held accountable in court. https://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2024/04/the-true-cost-of-wind-and-solar.php3 points

Ragusin looked great this year at 133 is a legit contender at that weight. I wonder if we see Cannon attempt to go 125 to get in the lineup. A lineup of 125-Cannon, 133-Ragusin, 141-Lemely is salty.2 points

I posed this same question earlier in this thread..... and it's a good question not necessarily from an NIL perspective but from a sports psych perspective. To me it's not really about having enough money....is Michigan creating a situation when some recruits may not go there because at anytime they could lose their spot to someone just a little better that's in the portal? Is there more stability for a wrestler to go to a school knowing their starting spot could be more safe? I get that if a guy performs they will be fine....but with the money Michigan has they seem to have the ability to bring in an AA over an R16 or R 12 guy, whereas other schools do not and that guy is pretty safe. It does create an interesting dynamic involving trust when you have money to bring just about anyone in you want.2 points

oh man if only he'd known about sequencing back in the day.....all those matches he tried something and it didn't work so he just quit for the rest of the match would have been way different.2 points

I was in the army. Most of the people in my unit or battalion couldn't have cared less. If you want to sit on your ass and not stand for the anthem, that's your decision. Forcing or coercing somebody into it is borderline facist. If you want to sit in the locker room because you're preparing for a game, that's your business. This stupid debate boils down to a few things. Are they hurting anyone by being in the locker room for the anthem? No. Does being present or standing for it have any bearing on their performance? No. Is it any of our business why people do what they do? No. Do I take it as an insult? No.2 points

Finding a vulnerable Indonesian trans sex worker just does not seem as edgy and "dirty" as it once did. I don't think global warming is the problem. I think it is more of a "ho hum, transes here, transes there, transes everywhere, so now who cares?" mentality.2 points

As a former Penn wrestler and avid supporter of the program, I could not be happier to see Matt taking over the program. His wrestling credentials are impeccable, and I think he is going to elevate the Penn program to where all of us Quaker fans would like to see it again. He is smart, will be a great recruiter and his love for the program will translate well going forward.2 points

Nex Benedict was abused by her father before transitioning. He went to jail for the sexual abuse with a 5 year jail sentence. He was released from jail a month before Nex killed herself. She left notes about her suicide and none of them detailed anything from the bathroom incident. She was a traumatized teen with very real mental issues, if not before, then after the abuse took place. Her story becomes more clear with this new revelation that is not making it into the mainstream news because it does not follow their orthodoxy on trans issues. Nothing of this whole thing made sense but this at least brings some amount of reasonableness as to her situation and subsequent actions. I believe she decided she was trans to somehow prevent her father from abusing her anymore. What else could she do? I believe she killed herself due to the fact her father was out of prison a month before she killed herself. Rather than go through the horror of facing her father and with the great fear of him abusing her again, she ended the situation with a drug overdose. That makes sense, sad sense and that father should be put away forever for the abuse of his child. It is heartbreaking really that this happened to her. The father should have been put away for 20 years, plenty of time for his daughter to grow up and get out of his orbit. Instead it seems apparent she was scared to death and chose death rather than suffer more abuse from him. Maybe that's not why she committed suicide, but it makes better sense to me than a fight in a bathroom. https://ocpathink.org/post/independent-journalism/queer-activist-calls-for-keeping-oklahoma-parents-in-the-dark-about-childs-mental-health https://www.nationalreview.com/news/the-anti-trans-hate-crime-that-wasnt-nex-benedict-was-abused-by-her-father-not-transphobic-peers/ https://www.yahoo.com/news/trans-teen-nex-benedict-left-193529264.html https://thepostmillennial.com/wapo-hinted-at-sexual-abuse-of-nex-benedicts-by-teens-father-in-initial-report-libs-of-tiktok-was-blamed-for-her-death-anyway?utm_source=ground.news&utm_medium=referral mspart2 points

Fossil fuels are quite energy dense. This is a fact. We've advanced the technology from coal and steam to cleaner burning fuels from petroleum. When we moved to cars and away from horses. Cities got cleaner. Less horse manure and fewer dead horses. More exhaust and smog. So we traded one negative for another. Now we realize that 125 years of that new negative has and IS causing a ripple that will undeniably change the way we live on this planet. With that being said, if it could solve or mitigate the problem brought on by fossil fuels, should we not explore alternatives regardless of today's cost? Considering how cheap it could be in the future considering how incredible our threshold for advancement is at this point.1 point

The physics claims are outright fraudulent also. On both ends of the hoax - that the earth is about to cease existing and that their "solutions" are the only salvation. Remember, they are lying only to the people who want to believe them. They know that people who are numerate, logical, and have a grasp of physics principles see through the fraud. However, the mix of do-gooderism (say-gooders), mob mentality, and social pressure, and governmental force can overcome facts . . . up to the point where reality slaps the idiots in the face.1 point

Ctrl + F for the rest of us uncultured swine. Also there is nothing stopping people from actually typing a tournament name in the search bar. Not defending Flo, just trying to make sure that it isn't woeful ignorance attacking them. They have so many reasons to be critical of them, not being able to search isn't one of them.1 point

How fancy does a wrestling room have to be, though? As long as it holds 3 or 4 full sized mats and can get super hot so guys sweat like pigs is the only requirement.1 point

sanderson's motion was way better (best ever), he knew way way way more positions, his forward pressure didn't require standing on train tracks (more of a zig zag), way better on top (maybe a wash because no one is getting ridden), but the big thing to me is that he seemed reckless while always in control...the guy was scary, brook is just really good.1 point

Northwestern had a bunch of guys get degrees and wanted another chance to succeed, so they left. Mind you, they all had spent at least four years at Northwestern. The same can be said for Sadlate and Fish at MSU. Both have over 75 wins for their former university. What is wrong with wanting to maximize your output your last try? Both had great seasons and should have placed. All this said, Sparty leadership is okay with the program not being amongst the top tier or two. As long as they don't make unnecessary noise(s) like some of these other programs are (in the bad ways) they will be happy.1 point

Is it a hoax if you are too stupid to understand physics, facts, relative risks, basic logic, that others have different priorities, etc? If you identify that the earth is about to stop existing due to all human economic activity since Prometheus gave humans the knowledge to harness fire then it is not a hoax. It is their truth. Wrong but "true". Which is possible in their cult world. Is it any wonder that the correlation between being a climateer and the belief that men menstruate is very close to 1? WKN probably can give us the R-value.1 point

Yes, but Retherford will effectively have a seed by being one of the semifinalists. So the jist of my question was who will be on his side of the bracket and who will be opposite? If Retherford is effectively treated like the 1 seed, Lee and someone else (Diakomihalis or McKenna, presumably) will be opposite. If Retherford is effectively treated like the 4 seed, Lee will be same side. Etc. Does anyone know how they land relative to Retherford?1 point

I don't mean to harp on the guy, because he is going to have a more successful life than anyone could imagine, but it appears his focus was education and long-term mental health. When other guys (Parris, Kerk, Davison) were gym-ratting it, he was focusing on how to be successful in life. He didn't do anything wrong, he just didn't hit the weights as hard. It left him behind a bit and as he needed to rely on superior athleticism more to play catch-up with gents like them and Batista, it wore on his body more. The guy will be fine and I do wish him the absolute best.1 point

Most guys wrestling 97kg tend to be in that 220-235 walking weight range. Lowney, Snyder, Kasper, Cassar, Davison, Bastida, Feldman, Keuter, etc off the tippy top of my memory1 point
-
Snyder weighed in at 232 his senior season against Coon and 227 against Gwiazdowski. I was unable to find the numbers from his Junior season. This was at B1Gs this year (Davison and Feldman at 236 and 232, respectively) as well as what some of the 'hybrid' gents weighed in at Collegiate Duals this year.1 point

It's a bad look for wrestling in general. MMA/UFC is half WWE, the false bravado, the calling people out. Bo is brining that into his life. It may be a needed piece of his career, now, but it's not necessary in wrestling. And Starocci saying he's going to end Boroughs career... It's all moving to social media click bait.1 point

Honestly don't know. Mum has been the word. His public appearances have been minimal as well so we can't see his current state. He is a shell at 65 KG compared to 70 KG... so 74 KG is wishful thinking. That said... here is who is out to the bottom side semi-finals (picture attached to show format of last OTT)... Arujau at 57 KG (or 65 KG) Retherford at 74 KG (or 65 KG) Valencia at 86 KG (or 97 KG) 57 KG and 65 KG will be full, proper brackets with the finalist making the following say Best of Three. Meaning if Arujau and Retherford would need to only win one match to make the best of three. 74 KG, 86 KG, 97 KG, and 125 KG have a returning medalist sitting out to the Best of Three. Meaning Valencia and Retherford (if he goes 74 KG) will have to win two to make the following day's best of three finals. Now that I am thinking the method to make the best of three finals, I am thinking 65 KG makes more sense... I still want him in at 74 KG.1 point
