  1. https://wvusports.com/news/2023/3/24/blog-cardinales-toughness-and-persistence-leads-to-another-all-america-season.aspx Not only did he AA as the 28 seed, coming off major shoulder injury from last season he started the season finding out he had stress fractures in both big toes . After some time off he returned around midlands and immediately tore his acl, after sitting out a few weeks he came back to practice and immediately had a complete bucket handle meniscus tear , he had the meniscus repair surgery just 2 weeks before big 12s and 27 days before the start of nationals . He wrestled all matches at ncaas including the meaningless 7th/8th match…guy is an absolute warrior and he did all this while in medical school this guy should be the one selling excuses are for wussies gear

  2. Unfortunately the two party system has been the demise of the country. It's an "either/or" scenario with both parties and too many people are one or two issue voters. Both parties are great at instilling fear in their side and then capitalizing on it. If you are worried about your guns you better vote Republican or the big bad libs are going to come dressed in drag and take them away!

  6. You say that sarcastically but there is no doubt if Biden or Obama has the ability they would. They will continue incrementally as aggressively as they can until they meet that goal.

  7. I'm quite sure that our core values are pretty similar, even when you're sober, lol. I suspect that when it comes to our principles and what we value in life and other people, we're very similar. I've told many people, that I differ politically with, that exact same thing. I've also said on here that BOTH political parties have successfully divided us over issues that are not terribly important to me in order to stay in power and fill their pockets with money, and their benefactors' pockets with money. Politically, I'm quite sure we're different. I guess you have a party that's doing what you want in Washington. For me, they both are bought-and-paid-for, with zero integrity. Maybe the late Senator @BobDole would like the details. They sure help explain his problem with technological boobs representing us in DC. This is but one situation. I'm sure there are many others from "both sides". Tom Reed was a staunch Republican, which served him well here in rural Upstate NY, representing NYS-23 (where my wife and I live) from 2010 to 2022, when he resigned over an admitted sexual assualt during an official function. His go-to move was to paint his opponents as "Extreme Ithaca Liberals", even if they were not from Ithaca. (You kind of have to know this area to understand.) https://www.ithaca.com/news/reed-campaign-revives-ithaca-liberal-tag-in-new-ad-campaign/article_4f27ce4a-1f2b-11e8-9ff2-3f1430282a8f.html He of course pounded the "They're gonna take your guns" drum. Those two moves were pretty much all he needed. BTW, he was Trump's relection campaign manager (just for this area?). He owned a medical debt collection agency, which he later turned over to his wife to get around conflict of interest problems. He now is a lobbyist in Washington. Cool, huh? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Reed_(politician) His last two Democrat opponents were: Tracy Mitrano, a computer science professor at Cornell https://www.linkedin.com/in/mitranoassociates/ John Plumb, BS, MS Physics; PhD Aerospace Engineering https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_F._Plumb The difference in integrity between Reed and Mitrano or Plumb could be subjective (not by me though). The difference in technical competence is not. Don't you suppose that if we voted more for people with a background like John Plumb and less for the same old medical debt collector that gets dangled in front of us time and again, we may have less of a back-biting $hitstorm in DC? Certainly, we'd have less blank stares when technical issues were being discussed. Again, don't equate technology with social media and such nonsense. There are many, many technical issues that have little to nothing to do with the public's use of computers.

  16. I was at The Palace for that tournament and saw that match live. Incredible. Land was the number 1 seed and lived on the edge that whole tournament. He won his semi in a very controversial 3-2 win over and unseeded wrestler. Then Lang was tech'd in the finals in an incredible final (starts about minute 16). It started out looking like Land could get an early fall in the initial scramble off the whistle. The whole video is good but the point flood for Moore starts about 20:00

  18. Clarion's James Fleming and his "Snapper Roll" GOAT... AA 5th @ the 2012 NCAA's From a Tibe Live article 3/25/23: And then there is the “snapper roll,” Fleming's signature move, highly effective and violent. And his very own. It started in high school, evolving into a powerful weapon that has produced complaints, controversy and many of his 121 collegiate wins, which rank 10th in school history. The name derives from his nickname and not because he is trying to break off his adversary's head, even though it might look that way. After frequent and vehement resistance, coaches and officials gradually have come to accept the move. Rival fans unaccustomed to it still react harshly. “We had some problems my freshman and sophomore year,” Fleming said. “They said I was choking people. The thing is, it's a one-of-a-kind move, and most people would think you'd be choking somebody.” One coach was so convinced that he sprinted onto the mat when one of his wrestlers screamed in pain. Other coaches and officials “were literally all over (Fleming),” said Moore, who lobbied the NCAA for the move, sending a video to prove its legality. “Officials would come into the prematch meeting and say, ‘Look, I know what this guy does. I'm gonna call it,' I'd say, ‘What are you gonna call? The way he locks it up is legal.' Just because it's extremely painful, there's nothing in the rulebook that says it's illegal.” Constant pressure The move, which can slightly deprive an opponent of oxygen, has several variations. In the base move, Fleming locks his hands across the opponent's jaw line with his left thumb by the right ear and his right shoulder covering the left ear. The head is turned sideways, and “I'm torquing his head underneath him,” Fleming said. “The pressure on the jaw and on the neck is what inclines people to go over.” Meaning on their back. Where they get pinned. “It's tight and uncomfortable, but it's under constant pressure, more than like a hard snap or anything,” he said. Fleming does not hide the move's effectiveness and how it inflicts what is known as “legal pain.” “The good thing about my move is that a guy won't want to go out on the mat and wrestle me again,” he said matter-of-factly. “I stay in people's heads. I want them to know that the next time they wrestle me again, it's gonna suck. I make that part of my goal. People don't like that.” Clarion coach Troy Letters said, “There are a lot of guys that are afraid to wrestle him. James can sense that. And when he does, it's lights out. He's like a lion that way.” Among the unafraid is Fleming's teammate and wrestling partner, Mikey Pavasko, who has felt the wrath of the move more than anyone. He said he is “extremely fortunate” for the privilege. “He's a great leader,” said Pavasko, a sophomore from Munhall. “He shows me what I'm doing wrong, and he wants to build me up as a better partner.” But it hurts, right? “You can't even put it into words,” Pavasko said. “Yeah, it's painful.” Using tactics, familiarity with the move and his considerable skills, Northwestern's Jason Welch is 3-0 against Fleming, beating him twice in the NCAA Tournament. The first time, Fleming said, the referee called the move illegal but not before he made an impression. “My neck was killing me for like a week afterward,” Welch said. The two have developed a mutual respect and friendship. They even hung out together after last year's NCAAs. Welch is ranked No. 1, and another meeting in the tournament is possible. “I'd love to see that,” Welch said. Amateur wrestling is tough, demanding and often violent. Yet even in that context, “You rarely get kids this aggressive,” said Moore, a former North Allegheny High School star and NCAA champion. “When we brought him into Clarion, the first thing we said was, ‘Don't change your style at all.' We wanted to tweak some things, but my thought was, ‘If he wrestles with this tenacity in college, he's gonna go far.' ” cheers! D3

  19. My mistake, I thought he ended up getting pinned. I knew he wrestled back for 3(which I did NOT see happening at the time) and that he worked Amuchastegui over pretty good the next year. That tournament my view on Ruth did a complete 180 and his toughness. I thought he'd MFF out, watching it live, I thought he kinda quit(I was very wrong, you can tell he tweaked something early in that match with a 2-1 lead). And you watch him getting turned and the Stanford kid is really working on that right leg. So for Ruth to come back as a Freshmen and get 3rd...that impressed the hell out of me.

  20. Ruth didn't get pinned he injury defaulted against Amuchastegui after the second period. But he wrestled back and got third. They wrestled the following year in the NCAA final and Ruth won 13-2.

  31. A while ago Darrion Caldwell said on a podcast or interview or something that not all wrestlers want to go to school in the cold (even Jersey kids) or on the other side of the country. He could have gone to Nebraska and had a good relationship with Manning but chose NC State. He didn't want to deal with those winters in Lincoln. It's too bad there aren't more D1 options in the South and Southwest, they would be attractive destinations for many. Easier to make weight too.

  33. UNC: Chapel Hill, NC State & Duke help keep NCAA D1 wrestling alive in the South. It's much appreciated. Their presence & prosperity help keep our sport from becoming a mere "regional" sport, like men's gymnastics has reportedly become. Clemson used to be part of the frontier but we lost the Tigers' D1 program circa 1995. https://ncwa.net/teams/clem Title IX was, indeed, cited as a reason. But laws have since changed, arguably favorably for wrestling too. 34. I didn't assume it was guaranteed, I said highly likely. Upsets happen (obviously). I believe what I said was Iowa and Spencer likely end up with 2 and 4 but for COVID, and instead ended up winning 1 and 3. I'm not granting Spencer 4 titles. He's a three timer, sadly (for me).
