I appreciate your detailed answer , I also wasn’t referring to you when I was talking about v tech fans , more so the ones on X and Facebook. I think that’s a very reasonable take and breakdown for why you think he ll beat SVN, my personal opinion is he’ll have to out SVN SVN pressure wise to beat him and that’s a tall task for anyone, which is why I just think it’s a bad match up for Henson. And I’m not saying he definitely won’t win I’m just arguing based on everything laid out that SVN is favorite . I agree Caleb is 10x better then his freshman season but my point was so is SVN he’s just overshadowed by the all timers that have been around him in the lineup his whole career while Henson jumps stand out bc he’s the best guy on his team and arguably the best guy in his entire conference. I think when talking about the jumps each guy made people lose perspective because of that , just bc SVN is the 5th best guy on his own team doesn’t mean he hasn’t gotten a lot better since the last match up.

SVN beat Henson at the ncaa tournament they both wrestled 3 years at 149 and have identical records. Van ness has wrestled those 3 years in a much better conference then Henson and has bonus rate over 20 points higher in 3 ncaa tournaments Van ness has 10 bonus wins with 4 pins while Henson has 3 BW(1 tech ,2 majors) Does any of that point to Henson being the favorite going in? Other the projecting this magical jump he’s made in your head and people keep bringing up ridge or Aden Valencia we re talking SvN vs Henson not them and last they wrestled Van ness had 2 takedowns to 0 and controlled the entire match. I never said he’s not that good ever. I said 4 out of the last 5 seasons he couldn’t finish bc of injury and when healthy for a part of last season he didn’t look close to the level of the 4 freshman at 133. That isn’t saying he’s not good those 4 freshman passed up Byrd and Ayala too they are all elite. I’d expect Crookham to AA as long as he’s still wrestling in march but he isn’t beating Jax or Seidel

Except that he’s finished 1 of 4 college seasons and missed time in high school as well. He also didn’t look anywhere close to the level of those 4 freshman this year. The odds of him getting hurt and not finishing the season are much higher then the odds of winning an ncaa title

Schmidt was 8-16 last year and has career losing record and was the 33 seed at ncaas. There is some talk that Schubert might stay at Oklahoma and go 165 and they brought in Powe (2 or 3 yrs of eligibility) who I think AAs this year (he beat Bailey 12-6 last year),Eise (4 yrs of eligibility) who has a very high ceiling and Robb (2 or 3 yrs of eligibility) could AA . With or without Schubert Oklahoma off season has been a home run so far. also Rutgers filled their biggest need with Herrera at 285 and the only starter they lost was going to be on the bench next year anyway so I’d say it’s definitely a net positive for them.

Green coached at the OTC and Nebraska and has been praised by damn near every guy he’s coached including Henson. And he’s a better freestyle coach then Tanelli which is important with Bassett coming in and Henson only having one year of folk left

They are replacing him with James green so I’d say that’s a net positive overall

Citing a match 3 years ago is a small part of what’s been pointed out. What’s also been pointed out his they’ve both been 149 for 3 seasons and SVN has been much better against the field while wrestling better competition and he’s in the best room in the world since he last wrestled Henson. There is no data or evidence that’s Henson has passed SVN up and is the favorite over him other then your personal opinion so bc SVN lost in overtime in the ncaa finals he ll never win now?

Bc of his recent charges I don’t think he can get hired to any college at the moment (he failed the background check at Lehigh bc of it) so I think he ll stay connected to the RTC for now , I think he can get the record wiped clean if he has no issues the next 12 months. I heard Ashnault is replacing Mytych but I’d be calling Tanelli and trying to get him to come and be the #2
