  8. Went skiing, hurt my knee, return to find this thread at 4 pages longer. lol Simulation theory has the problem that it is tough to falsify, making it fraught from a scientifically theoretical standpoint.

  9. I think Parris is more of a “lock” than either Woods or anyone at 157. CASS gave it his best shot and was not REALLY that close to beating him.

  11. This is what people don't understand about the Penn State coaches style. They let the wrestler wrestle their own style and be their own person. Google some interviews with Quentin Wright. He articulates it very well. He said that he was trying to be Cael when he first got the coaching job and was regressing. The coaches encouraged him to wrestle like Quentin Wright rather than Cael Sanderson. Well, the results speak for themselves. And the team gets along very well with Carter, as do the coaches. And the results speak for themselves there as well. Two individual titles. Two team titles. Probably three and three in a month.

  12. I don't see anything in hind sight suggesting social distancing, hygiene, vaccinations and masking failed to mitigate COVID. In hind sight, I saw a lot of arm chair quarterbacks who did their own research and sabotaged everyone else.

  15. I can't think of anybody that actually likes Biden. Anyone? Not me. I don't necessarily disagree with his policies but it is stunning that our choice for POTUS came down to those two. I suppose it is indicative of money and influence in society. We should have a 40 - 50 something person who actually cares about the people who DIDN'T vote for him/her as president.

  19. Is there some way to put an annoying old guy on ignore here? Do I really have to keep listening to babble on and on about something he's only ever watched? Dude, you're a Soccer Mom, but it's Greco. I hope you're not like this with women and you pick up on that hint a BIT faster...

  20. Holy ***duck duck goose** dude...3 straight posts. Yeah, you're DEFINITELY not the guy who can't take a hint! Can you show me that SUUUUPER exciting match where the Greatest Greco Wrestler of all time gives up his first points in a decade(though...they of course weren't) because he...adjusts his hands! "REAL Wrestling."

  22. Yeah...I guess because I don't follow the current landscape that means I don't "know Greco." Again, wrestling it for ~8 years, 4 times at Fargo, WTTs, being an All American in Greco, wrestling in every State Greco Tourney from 5th grade through HS, every Northern Plains(winning most in both)...I must not "know Greco." -ESPECIALLY not as much as someone...who again never stepped on the mat in ANY style! OR...it could just be real simple. I-DON'T-AGREE-WITH-YOU...and you somehow can't accept that? Now you can go back to being a clown(well...not so much back as you never stopped, but I wanted the continuity).

  23. it means that you do not know greco at all... i just wanted to get down to the brass tacks before you go back to just being fodder... thanks for playing your role, brother...

  28. Concussions are a difficult thing. You have athletes trying to game the system to trick the evaluator and you have some that are super honest. The super honest ones are tough to ever get cleared but one of the things is to be 100% symptom free. We had a kid when I coached Ice Hockey that would have been the all-time leading scorer but his senior year he got a concussion and wouldn't clear week after week. At the end of the season he had missed about 20 of our 35 games. It happened to Sidney Crosby as well. I would rather that they error in favor of the athletes health than the athletes athletic goals. With the way the Dolphins screwed up with Tua this year it is only going to get worse and worse.

  33. Maybe the guys at WS can explain their calculation? To my knowledge, it only counts bouts against D1 competition (excluding teammates), who are eligible and rostered, at the weight class. So if any single matches are counted incorrectly (either way) it would create a discrepancy.

  35. i absolutely do not wonder about that... i learned that lesson before i even sprouted one hair... people will argue not for right or wrong, but, just to be "feel" right... because you don't believe the food pyramid anymore you dismiss the science that was used to create it and justify the agenda... you were finally told it was wrong so now it was never science... this is all very typical and does not bother me at all...

  36. My brother had a Pinto with a bumper sticker that said, "Danger. Unexploded Pinto."

  37. Since first of year Pinto has lost twice by 1 pt to Assad & Salazar. He seems to be improving with every match.

  38. There is an angle to dismiss the food pyramid... but its a tad silly to defend the food pyramid against lobbyist-driven corruption by saying "its not science." "Follow the food pyramid" is a good example in today's world of "trust the science," simplified representation or not. It is lipstick on a pig.

  43. Who decides what is "fake science"? And who decides what is "fake news"? IMO, these (2) questions deserve more focus and thought by everyday people than they are getting. Fake media = Some try extremely hard to remain fair and unbiased, others are ridiculously biased on purpose, many more are somewhere in between. It's getting very difficult for all of us to sort it out and decide who is trustworthy vs who isn't. The integrity of the "news" as a credible source of information is a luxury we no longer have. Science = Since Covid, due in large part to the above 'media' point, we have entered a strange and dark period in our history where science is no longer trusted. Any Tom, Dick, or Mary on the internet can now question decades of scientific theory as if they have some higher knowledge. Neither of these things is a specific to the U.S. - the same things are causing unrest around the world. Who's behind it? A bunch of people who want to see the world burn is my best guess - too many of those. Certainly nobody that intends to make the world a better place is behind it - those are the people we need more of.

  44. Wow, this thread blew up while I was trying to actually get some work done. But Mike handled any I would have responded to directly. It is really hard to have an intelligent conversation about this when some folks can't distinguish between a scientific theory and a "theory". Science thrives on being challenged and questioned, but you need data in order to do so. The ideas that have been challenged the most and stood the test of time are the ones we have the most confidence in. The age of the planet/universe and evolution are some of the most heavily scrutinized concepts and are by far still our best explanations. Dunning-Kruger is one of those buzz words you are so fond of, but it is more accurate than your comment above.

  45. Yep. You're the first one to ever think of that. Thanks for enlightening us. To know what you know and what you do not know, that is true knowledge. -Confucius To know, is to know that you know nothing. That is the meaning of true knowledge. -Socrates The greatest obstacle to discovery is not ignorance - it is the illusion of knowledge. -Daniel J. Boorstin, Librarian of the United States Congress And I'm sure countless others.

  46. This is one of the most scientific statements made on this topic. The reality is most of what happens and affects us happens outside of our ability to perceive. The arrogance of limited knowledge is downright stupid.
    1 point
  47. And every post you make shows your bias in science, which is exactly what needs to be eliminated from education. Every theory you insist on teaching had significant scientific barriers and those barriers are kept from students to make them think a certain way and to keep them from information.
