The Community Colleges 2023-'24 wrestling season has gotten underway... albeit in California (where there are presently nearly two dozen active men's CC wrestling teams). For more info on that front: https://www.caccwrestling.com/ Wouldn't it be nice to have more CC & junior college wrestling teams nationwide? California consistently demonstrates that maintaining a healthy quantity can be achieved, and with suspenseful team title chases keeping things interesting, too. Elsewhere in the USA, there are around 55 community college / JUCO wrestling teams for men: https://productiverecruit.com/mens-wrestling/junior-colleges Meanwhile we are seeing some community colleges & JUCOs launch club teams: http://www.ncwa.net/teams There are now reportedly nearly two dozen JUCO / CC wrestling teams for women, too: https://www.njcaa.org/sports/wwrest/teams-pages Community colleges are affordable, and at least in theory...embraced by their local communities. That means they are, in theory, less likely to shut down like Alderson Broaddus (in West Va.) seems to be doing (while alumni resistance is growing, FWIW, including from the wrestling community). Hopefully more CC & JUCO wrestling programs will emerge nationwide... Might the schools nearest you be next to add wrestling?6 points

Are those Iowan tyrants compelling anyone to carry a firearm? Despicably authoritarian if so. Are those Iowan tyrants using their administrative state powers to regulate that only one type of stove is allowed (not gas)? Toilet flush volume? Lighting technology? Car propulsion type? Compel involuntary participation in a mass medical experiment? How can you put up with such arbitrary authority being exercised over you? However, if those Iowan tyrants are merely ensuring that Iowan-Americans are free to exercise their rights as acknowledged by the Constitution then I can recommend to you a Governor more to your liking. She is just down the road a bit in New Mexico. Her non-authoritarian ban is probably much more aligned with your understanding of the word authoritarian.3 points

Thanks for posting. Cheers for that! As for hiding it like this, **** the UWW. Just **** them! They have had an official entries link on their front page, and instead of updating that like they've done the past week or two, they chose to back door the ******* Russians. I'm furious. But a reminder: The IRTC, Coach Medlin and Zane Richards have a great relationship with Russian wrestlers and coaches. I'm sure they hoped that they would be allowed entry. I am not an official anything when it comes to the ILLINI or IRTC.2 points

By the way, there is nothing on UWW's twitter feed either. On another, much happier note, here is your ILLINI, ILLINI RTC and ILLINI RTC-emeriti schedule of events at the World Championships: ILLINI, ILLINI RTC & ILLINI RTC-EMERITI SCHEDULE SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 -- ZANE RICHARDS WRESTLES TIME: 3:30 am (Central) SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 -- ERMAK KARDANOV WRESTLES TIME: 3:30 am (Central) THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 21 -- KAMAL BEY WRESTLES Time: 3:30 am (Central) FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 22 -- JOE "THE RAUSTLER" RAU WRESTLES Time: 3:30 am (Central) SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 23 -- ZAC BRAUNAGEL WRESTLES Time: 3:30 am (Central) So excite!2 points

None of it makes me think. Very bad people were in the US and had a plan to do this. And they did it as part of a jihad they had in mind. The final leg of their triumph was stymied by courageous people aboard the last flight. We can continually thank our lucky stars for those people and their sacrifice. I remember the day clearly. I was awakened by a phone call of a co worker saying they heard something was going on in NYC but they didn't have access to any news. Could I check it out? So I was at home ( I had just moved to Hawaii), he went to work a little early, I was just about to get up to get ready to head in, so I turned on the TV and was both horrified at what I saw and fascinated. I told him and he couldn't believe it either. That was a surreal and crazy day. I watched as people jumped from the buildings. I watched the 2nd airliner go in. I watched both towers fall. mspart2 points

So if I see authoritarianism being practiced not in a way Bro Bob tells us it is, then it must not be true? When my D governor says all state workers MUST get vacccinated, that is not authoritarian, it is just being concerned for the welfare of those particular workers? And as a result of unintended consequences, mountain passes did not get cleared of snow and the state ferry system has been crippled. All because he won't allow those folks to be hired back at the positions they were at when terminated. Or when the D NM governor decrees that there are now 2 places in the state where no guns can be carried but in a lock box, that is not authoritarian? Or when the D President, through executive order tries to make me pay for student loans that the students can't pay, that is not authoritarian? No law passed. Executive order used in this way is the definition of authoritarianism. It doesn't matter what persuasion you are. So if D's do it, no problem. If R's do it, big problem. Yes, I get it and the logic is tiresome. mspart2 points

He may define differently, but my point is you can find authoritarianism on all sides. It is not more pervasive on one side over another. All sides have it. mspart2 points

If I had my druthers, I druther that any russian wrestlers be banned from these games, w/ or w/o the russian flag. There are those in the camp, if you want to be the best, you would have to wrestle the best. Other wise you would have that proverbial asterisk next to the gold medalist 0f '23. Let 'em wrestle! With all of russia's transgressions of athletes getting caught w/illegal dope in their bodies... or getting banned because Putti-pute bullied his way into Ukraine and bombing the hell out of the Ukraine people. Tough lollipops... you don't get to wrestle. That's the price you pay. Sad to say... UWW leaned toward participation w/o the flag. So they can't participate in the team scoring, or get on the podium w/o their national anthem playing? (Woop-tee-doo, they may have the lionshare of the medals just the same... they can live w/that.) On my whatsapp group among my friends, this conversation seems to take place almost every year. Person A, conspiracy theorist: posts videos and articles showing the possibility of inside job Person B (a west point graduate, army ranger, with two purple hearts earned through two different tours in Afghanistan): It would take a lot of coordination and cover up over various decades to pull this off and none of this was evident in any of my dealings with those in Afghanistan or the upper echelons of our own military our our allies1 point

Ayres not Ayers. There was also a Chris Ayers that wrestled for Blair at around the same weight at the same time who went to Brown. Both from around Newton, NJ. And yes, she does.1 point

I am! But... No, I am saying Geno's gutwrench is the second best in the world outside of Sadulaev. The bullet point I was trying to infer is that if Parris couldn't stop Hendrickson's gut wrench then I have serious concerns that he will get teched by a three time world champ/five time finalist/nine time medalist. I am concerned that he will be spinning faster than Zain Rethorford in last year's finals.1 point

I'm outside the states and can confirm the website is poor and doesn't work properly. They were practically trying to stop me from giving them my money with how much of a pain in the ass it was to finally get to the subscription page. Had to end up deleting the app and refreshing a million times until it worked. Regardless, it was 15 Euros for the whole world championship tournament. You can also purchase a day pass if you only care about 1 particular session but I never checked the price for that. €15 is fair to me. No monthly recurring subscription or anything.1 point

In 1973, the first year D2 teams could no longer score team points in the D1 tourney, Clarion would have scored 54.5 points, which would have been good enough for fourth, and knocked BYU off the list altogether. And to answer the first part would require hand scoring the D2 teams. Interested?1 point

Agreed with these comments. Will add, that I have started to smoke with the fat cap down as to not dry out the meat that is closes to the heat source...it has made that meat some of the best and moistest (yes I said moistest) parts of the pork butt/brisket.1 point

https://www.marshall.edu/library/bannedbooks/the-adventures-of-huckleberry-finn/ After parent complaints about the use of racist epithets in To Kill a Mockingbird; Adventures of Huckleberry Finn; The Cay; Of Mice and Men; and Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, the Burbank (CA) Unified School District superintendent removed these titles from required classroom reading lists. Citing the use of racial slurs in the books, Duluth (MN) school district administrators decided to remove Twain’s book and To Kill a Mockingbird from the curriculum “to protect the dignity of our students” and not require them to read books that marginalize them. The titles remain in the school library, and are still optional reading for students. Conservative strongholds are Burbank and Duluth. It happens everywhere Ban. Wherever there is government that can exercise authority, there will be those wanting to use authoritarian means of getting compliance. You might want to add that to your curriculum. mspart1 point

It doesn’t matter, the fat on the outside will not penetrate into the meat, it’ll just melt and drip off. Meat that has marbling, fat distributed all through the meat, will render and flavor the meat. About the only thing you can add that will penetrate is salt, based on how long you apply it before cooking. If you want to add flavor or juiciness internally, you need to inject it. Scoring would only expand outer surface.1 point

Forgot the forums existed anymore . Higuchi Wins. Aman Upsets somebody Either Abakarov or Uguev don't medal. One of them will get upset by a random, or maybe they'll wrestle for Bronze, but I'm leaning no medal for the Russian. Uguev has close bouts in whatever he does, I just feel like all the uncertainty doesn't do him any favors1 point

That TBar was not TBar. That was someone else making the name trying to have a little 'trollinese' fun and actually succeeding a bit. It sucks that we will never have the actual TBar as TBar. KMF is here. He always has been.1 point
