Up until 'rona I had gone to at least either B1Gs or NCAAs (both a handful of times) every year since 1985(86?). This is my first one back, so if I do go awol please forgive me. Also, if you hear of a semi-elderly, fit AF black man streaking down I-44 with a Porterhouse in one hand and a half gallon of Jagermeister in the other... just after Parris wins Gold - mind ya own.5 points

I just went through brackets and circled the second round matches I really want to see. Highly scientific approach which results in 133 being the most exciting weight!!! 149 for a close second. 133 has 6 149 has 5 125 has 3 165 has 3 184 has 3 197 has 3 141 has 2 157 has 2 174 has 2 hvy has 03 points

I got to the office early today, worked through lunch, and might stay late working on reports that are not due until next week. All of that just so I can be a worthless pos tomorrow!3 points

Let's see if they can get three before we talk about four. A lot of people have drowned halfway across the river.3 points

I haven't moved any goal post. I take back my assertion you are disingenuous. My apologies. Turns out the events of Jan 6, 2021 went over your head, so you are just plain slow.2 points

During the 2021-22 season, Yanni nearly lost to Ridge Lovett in OT at Las Vegas. When the two met in the national finals, it wasn't even close. I suspect a similar outcome this year: while Yanni lost an early season match to Gomez, on Saturday night, I think he wins his 4th title going away probably by dominating a high-quality opponent in Sasso. That said, and I'm not a Cornell (or for that matter, a Yanni) fan, but it seems to me that the Big 10 and Iowa went all in on promoting Lee while Cornell and the EIWA have been comparatively silent on Yanni's potential 4th title. Shane Sparks can barely contain his man crush and Spenser's sycophants also have a tendency to suck all the air out of the room with the 4-timer talk. Yanni deserves a little more credit in my opinion and I can't help but think that Cornell missed an opportunity.2 points

Exact same thing? Jan. 6 crimes are unique to our history.2 points

I mean let's not go fulllllllll Fargo. Nothing worse than not placing when you lost to 1st and 3rd by 2 points combined and no I'm not bitter why do you ask2 points

Or maybe they demonstrate how futile the seeding process is? I'm in the camp that says there is no way to know the results with certainty until they wrestle. Embrace the upsets!2 points

I could be wrong, but I believe Carter has said before that he's not interested in going for five. That could change, but I honestly don't see what he gains in terms of GOAT talk going for the extra title. It's not like Cael or Dake wouldn't have won 5 if given the fifth year to compete.2 points

The thought of having an opportunity to win 5 NCAA titles does not sit right with me. Other student athletes lost a year and only had 3 attempts at winning a national title while someone else received an extra year because of it. Its the NCAA who caused this problem and not the athletes but still does not sit right with me. As a whole NCAA wrestling is a fantastic product with many generational talents as high school wrestling seemingly continues to produce higher level wrestlers each year. Brooks and Starocci must be added to the all timers list but many like Ruth, Quentin Wright, etc. get overshadowed because of their lack of production post collegiate carrier which is unfair.2 points

He goes by Jon Jon to friends and family. I absolutely hate this for him. From being a 1 time North Carolina state champion to a guy competing with the best in the country every year. His development has been a joy to watch.2 points

Is there some historical reason for there being 33 NCAA qualifiers per weight? Seems like 32 would make more sense.1 point

And that tie's up the loose ends. (If you'd like to continue repeating what you've read, by all means do so.)1 point

My bad. He lost to Schlatter and then in the Tie-breaker in the next round. It was still the last year of the old allocation system that was deeply flawed...and he's kinda a prime example of who the at-large bids are for. The B1G had...4 or 5 of the top seeds that year ~6 seeds that year. He only lost to Poeta and Becker that year though(up until the B1G) IIRC.1 point

Trying to be dismissive for effect. Blue chip prospects are just that, and Lee was the best get at his weight. The point I was trying to make is Spencer wasn't always considered automatic in college. Gimpy knees and the footwork of Sebastian Rivera sometimes made me doubt him.1 point

Based on the latest videos, I think you would be hard pressed to call them all insurrectionists. There may have been a few with that motivation but based on what I have seen, most did not. Do insurrectionists wield phone cameras as their weapon of choice? Do insurrectionists destroy the building or keep it in general state of repair? Do insurrectionists give up after 2 hours when told to go home? Do insurrectionists plan an insurrection without the benefit of weapon of any kind? I think you would be hard pressed to say that as a truth these were all insurrectionists. mspart1 point

you guys are so impatient... just give it some time... these "fantasy narratives" sometimes take a little bit of time before the rest catch up... that list is long and varied throughout the years... shit... it was not that long ago that we would execute people for suggesting such "fantasy narratives" like the earth was not flat... you don't even get banned from all social media for talking about lab leaks anymore... patience my children... patience...1 point

Henning did not take 8th and failed to place, that is why he wasn't given a coach's bid. I believe at that time, the Big Ten coaches voted to use their conference bid allotments by giving one to the top 7 at every weight. Then they had a few left over bids that were to be voted on by the coaches and given to deserving 8th place finishers.1 point
