5. Prior to the current field size of 33, it was a larger tourney. Yes, the single pigtail was introduced when the current AQ and ‘at-large’ process replaced the process based on the five-year R12 average and ‘Wild Card’ system. The drop to 33 occurred around the same time the eleven scholarships were dropped to 9.9. Here is an example of a bracket with nearly 360 participants. 40 pigtails and two ‘byes’ made a field of 358. Eight pigtails at 134 and 167. http://www.wrestlingstats.com/ncaa/pdf/brackets/NCAA%201989.pdf Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

 7. Yeah. Warren Crow started out at Cornell before transferring to SUNY Albany when he defeated Sanders in the College Division Nationals at 123 lbs. Sanders then dropped to 115 for the D1 NCAAs and Crow finished 4th at 123 lbs.

 9. There is substantial shade covering that fair and square comment. Media influence. Tech influence. Ballot harvesting. Undeniable. Studies, videos, convictions. These are known unknowns that are not measurable. The same will exist in the next election. There is no way to win without copying the Democrats behavior of ballot harvesting.

 10. Why? He now has a guy who beat him during this actual season or a guy who decked him a few years ago. The Gomez that lost to Rooks at B1Gs would have been a very easy match for Sasso. That is even if Gomez won his first match, which was not a guarantee.

 13. I like this idea, but instead of taking the place of 31-33, how about having 4 pigtails instead of 1? 33 gets D2 champ, 32 gets D3 champ, 31 gets D2 runner up, and 30 gets 29 in the four pigtails.

 14. I like the idea of inviting the top 2 placers in the Division II tournament and the top guy in Division III to the Division I dance. Give them a low seeding (even #'s 31-33) and see what they can do.

 26. I think a bit optimistic bc lewan and amine both made the semis last year and that is a monumental task this season …Lewan would have to beat Ed Scott and Austin o Conner to make the semis and both are not great stylistic match ups for Lewan and amine has a brutal draw , Cook first round then Kennedy from Iowa then Hamiti just to make the semis , both should be R12 AAs guys but probably do most of their damage on the backside

 27. The older brother Nathan had a less than standout high school career for a national champion: 31-13 overall, 2-6 as a senior, never wrestled in the PIAA postseason. Now a 2x D3 champion that has not only lost 0 D3 matches the past two seasons, but also has given up 0 TDs, 0 NFs, and 0 reversals to D3 wrestlers over the past two seasons. He was also 6th at the 2022 Midlands where he lost his only matches in that time period. http://www.pa-wrestling.com/hs/teams/bethcatholic/athlete_stats.htm?id=84404

 29. I’m fine with replacements at 133 and 149. Either give them the replacement entry or grant them a new pick. I trust your judgement, VakAttack. Whatever is decided, I need the new name before the tourney begins Thursday morning. However, if your guy fails skin check or misses weight, you’re stuck with the horse you bought. 36. Let me take a crack at this. All banks work pretty much the same way. They take either maturity risk (i.e. borrow short-term and lend long-term), credit risk, or both. This can be done very riskily or not. To mitigate some of that risk some banks also pursue fee based businesses. But an old school, traditional bank activity is to take deposits (borrow short-term) and pay little or no interest on those deposits. They then make longer-term loans to businesses and individuals (mortgages, for example). Long-term rates tend to be higher than short-term rates, so they make money on the spread. But there is a basic problem all banks need to manage. The deposits can leave at any time, but they do not have the right to call the loans. If all depositors want all of their money back at the same time, every single bank in the world will become insolvent. They can make the most prudent, intelligent loans ever that are all money good and it still will not matter. They have to wait to get their money back, but depositors do not. One way to manage this risk is to have diversified sources of depositors. Open branches everywhere, offer toasters and pens, advertise locally and nationally, etc. That way all depositors are less likely to act as a single group. Silvergate and Signature were two large bankers for the crypto industry. Their deposits were tightly tied to the health of crypto as many of their customers were crypto exchanges who needed access to the traditional financial system. When crypto exchanges faced massive withdrawals, they took their deposits en masse. It no longer mattered what their loans looked like. Ditto for Silicon Valley Bank, except substitute private equity funded start ups for crypto. With start up money drying up they turned from net depositors to net withdrawers. SVB also failed to manage their maturity risk appropriately so that when the mark-to-market value of their loans (i.e. long dated treasuries and agency mortgage bonds) went down their capital ratio shrunk. Private equity investors noticed and told all their clients to pull their deposits. When the heard moves, there is not much that can be done (especially if you have mis-managed this risk). Ultimately, it was the combination of losing non-diversified deposits and higher interest rates (which decreased the current value of assets, but not necessarily the future value) that got all three. Unless other banks have made similar mistakes, then they have not much to worry about, except that all banks survive on depositor confidence - just ask George Bailey.

 37. The Serbian National that killed the arch duke and started WWI is considered a national hero in Serbia. Perhaps Serbia should give up its aspirations of Olympic-hood. I found this out while speaking with a few Serbs a year or so before the Balkans War. It was still Yugoslavia at the time. They were hating on Croatians at the time for being war mongering during WWII. I asked if it wasn't a Serbian that killed the arch duke starting WWI? They heralded the guy, he was a national hero and stuff. I couldn't believe it, they were applauding the guy that started WWI. These were just average guys there in Belgrade. Wrongly or Rightly, I assumed this was the thought of most Serbs. mspart

 38. @bnwtwg I don’t know if you heard RBY being interviewed after the Big Ten finals, but when asked what the victory meant to him, he said, if I remember correctly, “nothing much.“ I wouldn’t be surprised if the wrestling gods punished him for that kind of attitude (even though he is undeniably a really nice young man). There are too many kids out there who have spent their whole lives looking for a national title — and it sure would be something if Dayton won in front of his hometown fans. Disclaimer: hawks fan here.

 41. Like I said before, I think each situation and country needs to be evaluated by itself and not compared to any other county and situation when making a decision about banning from the Olympics. It is very complicated and there are so many factors involved (intent, culture, societal norms, invading a country unprovoked, state sanctioned doping, etc.). Point is, I don't think you can say, well you banned that country for XYZ so you should ban this country for ABC.
