  1. Class of 2027 Guesses: ****Please note, I have no inside info, these are just some guesses based on a myriad of different factors and maybe what seems to make sense, at least to me.*** Melvin Miller- Iowa. Just do not see a world where he does not go with Bo to Iowa. Not even sure where I would guess outside of Iowa. Obv everyone will be after him, he is an absolute monster. Joe Bachman- Lehigh or PSU. I think Lehigh has a really good year next year which attracts some more folks and they also do a great job with their guys and education is top notch, feels like a fit maybe. If not Lehigh, would be hard to see PSU letting him slip out of PA. Saw UPenn in the mix somewhere, maybe this forum, so that could be a thing as well. Darian Cruz is a really good assistant I think. Sonny Amato- Rutgers or VA Tech. Amato is a huge talent and it would be hard see RU letting him get away, because I am sure they want to lock Jersey down. Seems like he would also be a fit with VA Tech because he is in that weight range where they have had lots of success recently. Landon Sidun- Iowa, PSU, and VA Tech- Iowa very much in play per willie so obv that is an indicator. Kid is a massive talent and VA Tech has signed some real dudes of late so just a thought. PSU should also be a player here I am guessing as it would be hard to see him leaving PA. Side note would be awesome to see Pitt snag him- maybe with Roselli there they have a shot. Borge- Oklahoma State or Mizzou- Just going based off geography here. I know as a youth he wrestled out of MO, so figuring would be a homecoming of sorts, and am also guessing they know him pretty well. As noted he will be attending HS in Stilly, so that would have one think they have to have a great shot there. I also think he can be a good bit bigger and end up 65/74? Maybe. Also, I could see him being a fit at Iowa. Burnett- Ohio State/PSU/Purdue. Burnett is really solid, well coached and competes hard. Again kind of a theme here but would be hard for me to see Ohio State not putting up a massive push to keep him home. However, teammate Blaze is headed to PSU so I imagine that relationship runs deep and he could end up there. Other teammate is at Purdue and I wonder with Ramos on staff if that is an attractive option. Mario Carini- Oregon St/ASU/Michigan. Carini has placed at everything as an underclassman in the heavier weights, which proves his mettle. It is a need weight for ASU and he is close, ASU has not gotten a ton of Poway guys but you would think they are in play. Also, Oregon State has had tons of success with elite CA kids of late and Willie noted that they will be one of the most improved teams in the country, so adding those two together this is what I have. Also, Michigan because they have a strong RTC and Poway kids wrestle a ton of FS/GR and also who wouldn't want a pipeline to Poway? Tsarni- VA Tech/NC State. Not sure here, kind of threw a few schools out there. Again, he is a monster get for someone and again with the trend of what I have written VA Tech has been getting some really highly ranked kids of late, so this may be a thing? Also, NC State in the mix, I would think need weight plus proximity may make for a great match. Lucas Boe- Mizzou/Iowa State- Boe from LHP in Florida so he would be a great get and could help a pipeline with a program that just seems to churn out dude after dude. Interesting to note that LHP goes to all the majors and their kids are battle tested, they may have had the toughest schedule in the country. That being said ISU is on it in terms of recruiting and I can see them going hard after him, because he would be a great fit with Perry/Metcalf. And I do not know why but I just think Missouri as well. Of note though, many LHP kids go to Ivies and schools with high academics, if that is the case add Cornell, UVA, UNC, and Stanford in the mix. Dean Anderson- He is my son, no comment. Clinton Shepherd- Indiana/Nebraska/Purdue. Not sure on Indiana, not sure at all but again you would think they would throw the kitchen sink at him to get him to stay in state. He has tons of upside and wonder what he projects. I saw him at UWW U17 trials two years ago and he was massive for 132, wonder how big he gets, especially after a layoff from injury. You would think Purdue as well would be possible (see Indiana comment). I could also see him fitting in at Nebraska as he is solid in all positions and just a go getter. Sean Kenny- Lehigh/Va Tech/Rutgers. Another really good one close to Rutgers. Rutgers really making the push to be a top 8-10 team year after year at NCAA's and that only gets easier with locking down top Jersey talent. Would think Lehigh would be a fit as well because they are going to have a great season so that may help the process. Again, see VA tech. Note in Willie's first calls he talked about VA Tech going in big on a few guys and so maybe I thought he would be a guy because he is certainly good enough to warrant attention from everyone. Knopoka- NCST, Lehigh. No real feel here but with a kid from CT guessing Jack has an in for NC State. Also Lehigh (I know bullish on them) academics and high level wrestling would be a fit as well. Hayden Schwab- UNI. Jessie Grajeda- ASU/Cal Poly/Oregon State/Stanford. Bosco has sent a ton of kids to ASU and not sure if the Valencia to ASU pipeline is as open as it once was but I am guessing he would be a fit at a need weight for them. Valencia at Okie State may shake things up a bit but they are so loaded in there may be hard to get someone else in there. Oregon State would be a fit as it was noted earlier that Oregon State has landed quite a few elite CA prospects. Maybe throw Stanford in there as they do not have tons of need but Grajeda is a good one for sure. Perhaps Cal Poly could make a run here as well. Kikinou- UNC or Cornell. Poway sending come guys to UNC (Navida/Towson etc) has me think they have a shot in there and it seems the Poway kids do lean to schools with high academics and wrestling, so mix that with Koll who did spend time in CA at Stanford and is a master recruiter/CEO and I think you have UNC in the mix. Also, see Cornell as it seems this may be a fit for him. He is a Greco guy and Oregon State has had some guys in the Greco mix so maybe that works? IDK Gabe Logan- Michigan or Cornell. Michigan connection with dad who was an AA for them. As for Cornell, he is a Delbarton kid and obviously the Grey connection is a thing (see Perentin). Seemingly, Cornell is getting a boatload of guys and they all cannot start so wonder what happens here if kids start to think there will be a massive logjam. Brock Rothermel- Pitt/Ohio State. Pitt is close and have Roselli who is really really good at working with guys so maybe that is a fit. I say Ohio State because I can see them making a big push into PA, especially if they do not land Burnett. Seamus Regan- NCST- From SC, rumored somewhere he likes NCST which would seem to be a good proximity fit at least. Is at McCort so he will be all over the majors (events) and probably will get lots of attention from everyone. Maybe the connection with Iowa comes into play here and they can pick him up, but not sure thats a huge need for them. Gavin Mangano- Rutgers. Long Island kid who would be close to home in Piscataway, so maybe that is a thing. New York has seen a resurgence in the number of kids coming out of it (always been tough but down a little for a few years now seemingly stronger) and RU wanting to be a perennial top ten may see him as a huge pickup. He is a guy that is long so i wonder how big he can get over the next 2-3 years which makes me wonder wonder what he projects at, which could change all this hence my only listing one school. Jimmy Mastny- Illinois/Northern Iowa. Mastny is really really good and Illinois would do well to keep him at home. That would be huge for them as a program to land him as he is a really good big guy who started his youth as a smaller guy so he moves really well and is not a plodder. I also could see him being a guy who would fit in at UNI style wise, just a gritty dude that scraps and hand fights hard. *****Disclaimer, I have no real inside knowledge on any of this, but as noted before because I have been to a ton of events with Dean I have seen a lot of these kids and followed this class quite a bit from Junior High Rankings to now*** Just thought it may be good to get the ball rolling on this topic a little before 6/15.

  4. Freestyle all the way, everywhere. Can you imagine how good the Russians would get at ankle pinching at top? What about the Iranians and their "let a guy up to their feet, take them down and "naturally" end up out of bounds" routine. You could insert any nationality you want for the above scenarios, I was just speaking tongue and cheek, but the point stands, I think adopting folk style worldwide would result in a lot of boring high stakes matches.

  5. Actually it is not factually incorrect. And yes you are saying what I'm suggesting, by stating that aid being withheld from Republican areas being false rumors is factually incorrect. When in reality, aid being withheld is what is factually incorrect. If you would dig into stories instead of running with whatever gives you warm fuzzies, you would have learned that: Yes the state of Florida did sue the FEMA administrator for withholding aid for political reasons based on this event. The suit and investigation ran through the end of the Biden administration, and the beginning of the Trump administration. The conclusion......just about five weeks ago.....was that there was absolutely no findings that FEMA as an agency did or had any intention of withholding any aid to these areas, the suit was settled without any fault or punitive damages, and dropped against FEMA the agency, while still pursuing the claims against the individual. The acting head of FEMA at the suits conclusion, who was appointed by Trump, even stated that field officers are receiving extensive training that political affiliation has no bearing in rendering of assistance. So no, his first point is not at all factually incorrect. One bad actor does not a broader policy make. Hard stop.

  6. Oklahoma has eight of of ten projected starters as transfers. And they have several significant transfers not starting. If note: 133: Tyler Wells, Tyson Charmoli 149: Jack Gioffre 157: Peyton Kellar, Carter Schubert 165: Rafael Hipolito 174: Morgan Mannix 184: DeAnthony Parker, Brian Soldano 197: Bradley Hill 285: Juan Mora Only Beric Jordan and Alex Braun are "homegrown" are not transfers but are new to the starting lineup this year as redshirt freshman

  7. On its face (no pun intended) I understand why people don’t like it and how it could seem malicious to a degree. However, you have these guys that are constantly putting a hand on the mat, crawling and staying low to avoid exposure. Fix is on the edge of the mat, hand down, doing everything he can to keep Vito out (insanely fast) and what’s Vito going to do? Not stay aggressive or keep the pace. Fix, and guys using those tactics are in a sense stalling…hard to not let guys get after it.

  10. No I wouldn't be, but I've seen the process of rebuilding D1 athletics programs many times over and the best way to crash the process is having your coaching staff on the hot seat their entire tenure. Recruits see it too - who's happy to go to OU wrestling (or any other struggling D1 athletics program) now? Someone without a lot of other options or wants the underdog persona. That's not bad per se, but it can't be the only flavor for your program or you will not have sustainable success. Not to say you give a new coach 100% leeway and trust for a decade with no accountability, but there's something to be said for finding a middle ground where the coaches have some time (aka more than 1 season) to build their system.

  20. Is this a mental health issue? I don't think Trump believed he won(well, we know he knew he lost)... but so many others did. Beyond that, if they could rig it in 2020, why not rig it better? Why not rig it in 2024? Or was it rigged in 2024 and Trump just agreed to play along with the rigging? Makes ya think, doesn't it? Kinda like, 'I think this is mind numbingly stupid.'

  21. 2 billion isn't the issue. 113 billion is the issue. As storms become more intense and more frequent more people are building more expensive, under-insured homes in disaster zones. The free federal insurance from FEMA promotes moral hazard. I am uninterested in providing hundreds of millions of free insurance. Homeowners building, and rebuilding, in known disaster prone areas should pay for their own insurance. If they paid true market prices for insurance they would stop building where they should not build.

  25. Now that the U23 trials are over we are able to rank the order of preference for the world team spot based upon this criteria: 1. In order of rank: Top-4, age eligible, athlete from 2025 Senior Men’s Freestyle National Team 2. U23 Trials Champion These are listed in order of selection preference: 57 - Lilledahl, Provo, Ziegler 61 - Forrest, M. Blaze, Bouzakis 65 - M. Blaze, Cornella 70 - Duke, Edmond 74 - Mesenbrink, J. Blaze, Caliendo 79 - Haines, Hamiti, Ruiz, Mantanona 86 - Welsh 92 - Barr, Sinclair, Nelson 97 - Kouekabakila 125 - Herrera Let me know if I messed up any DOB years. Anyone know if the U20 team is the same? The qualifying procedures are a bit murky to me. Lilledahl (57), Forrest (61), M. Blaze (65), Duke (70), J. Blaze (74), & Sinclair (92) are all U20 eligible as well. Ruiz (79) too? I haven't looked at the U23 champ DOB to see if the other weights could be U20.

  26. This was...shockingly good advice that never once dawned on me until I started coaching. I had a HWT, he was a great FB player, he was 6'4 270, he could run all day, he was fine in practice, but he was backing up guys his first 3 years who'd all placed in State. He finally got his shot and he would gas about 90 seconds into the match. It took about 10 minutes until an assistant said 'he's holding his breath.' The nerves were getting to him and he just...wasn't breathing. Not even regulating his breath, but he was holding it for long stretches. Never would have dawned on me. Good kid, ended up being pretty good and played 4 years of College Football.

  29. 1. False Claims of Aid Being Withheld from Republican Areas Former President Donald Trump and other Republicans alleged that the Biden administration deliberately withheld disaster aid from Republican-leaning regions affected by Hurricane Helene. These claims were unfounded and contradicted by FEMA's documented assistance efforts. Such misinformation eroded trust in federal relief programs and complicated coordination with local officials. 2. Mischaracterization of the $750 Assistance Payment Some conservative commentators misrepresented FEMA's $750 "Serious Needs Assistance" as either the total amount of aid available or as a loan requiring repayment. In reality, this payment was an initial, one-time grant intended to cover immediate essential needs. Eligible survivors could apply for additional assistance through FEMA's Individuals and Households Program. 3. Conspiracy Theories About Government Intentions Conspiracy theories circulated online, suggesting that the federal government used Hurricane Helene as a pretext to seize land in areas like Chimney Rock, North Carolina, for purposes such as lithium mining. These claims were baseless and debunked by local authorities and emergency management officials. Nevertheless, they gained traction on social media, hindering recovery efforts. Wikipedia+3Wikipedia+3Congressman Chuck Edwards+3 4. AI-Generated Misinformation AI-generated images falsely depicting disaster scenes were shared widely on social media to criticize FEMA's response. One such image showed a young girl in floodwaters, purportedly illustrating federal neglect. Despite being fabricated, these images were used to support misleading narratives about the federal response. Wikipedia 5. Political Undermining of FEMA The Trump administration's approach included appointing FEMA leadership with limited disaster management experience and reducing the agency's role in favor of state-led responses. This shift led to internal confusion, staff resignations, and concerns about FEMA's preparedness for future disasters. The Times of India+2The Daily Beast+2AP News+2WSJ+1The Daily Beast+1 These instances of misinformation and political interference not only misrepresented FEMA's actions but also impeded effective disaster response and recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene.

  30. I'm plenty focused and I addressed most of these issues. You apparently need to hear this multiple times. 1-Yes, filing out paper work. Or...do you suppose you should just... tell Fema how much money you're entitled to with no other forms of documentation? How would YOU propose that money be handed out? 2-You want to talk about how slow and ineffective Fema is, but you don't want to talk about how Republicans voted against additional funding and NOW they've slashed the budget even more while cutting 1800 employees? Please, spare me the whining about how slow it was. You're getting what you voted for. Finally, AGAIN, you realize the Federal Government isn't responsible for 100% of ALL costs, right? You have...what are called INSURANCE companies. Biden did give out 100% of funds he was legally allowed to give out and as I said, States asked for troops, he sent troops. Biden offered additional help to Florida, they turned it down. But the "there's so much fraud and waste," crowd thinks you should just...I don't know, exactly HOW do you think the money should be allocated? Should I drive down to North Carolina and just...walk up with nothing and say I need 500K? Thoughts? Oh, and AGAIN, not 2B, 2.7B. And that's..."nothing." 2.7 Billion dollars is..."nothing." Ok...cool.

  32. I stayed focused and I responded. You ducked the question. And yes, I keep talking about filling out the paperwork. Should they just take people's word for it? I thought we were worried about giving money to "Unlawfuls," and fraud. But now you should get more than the 750, the maximum allowed by congress and Biden should just hand that out...because, right? Meanwhile, you doubt how much of that money made it to those impacted, but... they should have had to fill out the paperwork. President Joe Biden approved a 100% federal cost share for emergency response and debris removal efforts in several states affected by Hurricane Helene, including Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. This means the federal government covered all eligible costs for these activities during the initial recovery period. In North Carolina, the 100% federal cost share was authorized for the first 180 days following the disaster declaration. After this period, the federal cost share for Public Assistance was adjusted to 90%, reducing the state's financial burden compared to the standard 75% federal share. Overall, the Biden administration's decision to increase the federal cost share significantly alleviated the financial strain on the affected states during the critical early stages of recovery from Hurricane Helene.

  33. I’d take issue with the article placing the increase in death and destruction on climate change. Or at least solely on climate change. It’s not like some of the most recent storms top the list of strongest storms in history. A big part of the issue is we are building more and more and more on the coastlines. The city I live in has been hit hard the last few years. But it’s a city that they literally had to haul in dirt and build hundreds of miles of canals to make it livable. More and more preserves and mangrove areas are being torn down to build living space. Putting a lot more homes and a lot more people in the path. I’m not bi***ing, I’m one of them. I wasn’t born here, I moved here. My house got almost completely destroyed in Ian, but I rebuilt and stayed put. Irma 8 years ago hammered us. Milton last year made landfall 30 miles north, did a lot of damage again. Still stayed put. (For one more year). More houses are going up in my neighborhood. It’s just the unarguable reality of things around here.

  40. When I was 21, I was struggling with depression after my dad passed away. I was in a college lab, working on a Java program to make a device blink a red light, and I couldn’t have cared less. I was dragging my feet, unmotivated. Then my least favorite professor came over and said something that stuck with me. He told me to stop fixating on the red light and think about what it represented: control. The ability to remotely manage something like your home’s AC... the early seeds of the Internet of Things. That shift in perspective lit a spark. It was my first real lesson in starting with why. Ever since, focusing on the bigger purpose behind a task has helped me push through reluctance and find motivation, no matter how small or daunting the job feels.
