Seems like a stretch, what with Bo having his senior high school season next year...9 points
-
There were 63 freshmen who qualified for the 2021 tournament, thereby earning the first of five potential bites at the apple. Of those 63 only 25 have earned All-American status at any point since. 7 four-timers 2 three-timers 7 two-timers 9 one-timers Despite this being the fifth tournament they have been eligible for there still many with eligibility left. Everyone's favorite soldier saluter, AJ Ferrari, leads the way with two more years of eligibility after this year. Rocky Elam, Taye Ghadiali, Lucas Byrd, Chris Cannon and Dylan Ragusin have another year if they ask for and get a medical. It looks like only David Key (Navy), and Ben Pasiuk (Army) left a year of eligibility on the table by only using four. Of those finishing up this year Kyle Parco, Cam Amine, Wyatt Hendrickson, Trey Munoz, and Michael Beard have all exercised their freedom of movement by finishing at a school other than where they started the potential five-time journey in 2020 or 2021.5 points

fair point. but perhaps this is where we should stop saying 'left' and 'right' and doing what's best. and you better wake up, because that's exactly what happened. Trump was elected to fight government corruption. poo poo that notion and spin it anyway that makes you sleep better, but that's exactly what happened...all the way down to massive reversals among black males. so y'all stfu about 'left and right' and 'it's not making a dent (yet)'. you're dense, and you're making a fool out of yourselves. you sound like mother hens a god damn knitting party. trying to add nuance to something that is as simple as removing fat. there are mountains of government waste that we pay for. you dorks literally pay for it. and you're crying about trying to curb it. listen to your effing selves for five seconds and realize the utter nonsense you espouse for nothing more than party politics. if there's a project or 'aid' that's superfluous or excessive....slash it. that's the mandate. none of us care if it's a line item from the left or the right. we care that our nation's elected officials can't balance a check book and spend like sailors on leave. it's not effing complicated.4 points

I gotta say, and this is probably off topic, but it is wrong for Starocci (or anyone for that matter)He to be able to go for 5 championships. That is wrong in my opinion. He should be done at 4. I hope that he gets upset and doesn't win it again. Let him do it and why can't others do it? Covid is no excuse. mspart3 points

He could just pivot on his knee and keep squaring up. I've coached two kids in my "over 40 years" of coaching and working wrestling camps who had limbs missing......one had one leg missing below the knee, the other had both legs missing below the knee, and they were very difficult to shoot on....the other kids in the room would get very frustrated. That's another reason I think it's very important to have a good front headlock/short offense, and a lot of guys, even coming out of high school, don't.3 points

I don't follow all of the Musk investigations. But I did notice that the investigations went up after he poked the bear. And Biden's words “I think that Elon Musk’s cooperation and/or technical relationships with other countries is worthy of being looked at,” Biden said. “Whether he is doing anything inappropriate, I’m not suggesting that. I’m suggesting they’re worth being looked at.” And I notice people focused on smearing his character without a drip of credit for targeting wasteful spending.2 points

I agree it has nothing to do with skin color...and his skin color had nothing to do with my point...I was more trying to figure out why Desantis was pissed about who Trump is endorsing as I didn't know Desantis was endorsing his wife. And I try to stay out of the is he racist or isn't he...people will do whatever mental gymnastics are needed to either make him out to be or if he does say or do something racist to make him out to not have done or said something racist...it's one of the tired partisan games. And I hate when people use the term racist for things that aren't racists as it diminishes the true impact of using the term racist, and I don't think we should lose that.2 points

With the regular season of wrestling completed we have our final rankings before the conference tournaments. We all have a lot of information about every wrestler. Surely a consensus has been formed at this point. Penn State now stands at a whopping 8.8 expected AAs using yesterday's Flo rankings. Even the website owned by a well known PSU antagonist has them at an expected 8.6 AAs. These are both season highs. Is The End Nigh? The end is nigh. Penn State will put an end to wrestling as we know it. After PSU lays waste to the landscape and salts the earth behind them, every other school will cancel its wrestling program within 24 hours in despair. PSU has sown the wind and now they shall reap the whirlwind. Or at least that is what some will lead you to believe. After all, this kind of domination is bad for the sport. It has always been bad for the sport. No sport can sustain a dynasty. And nothing will ever change. Do not bother looking up the history of college wrestling. Just trust me on this point. After all PSU will absolutely, 100%, without any doubt, and with total certainty finish with 10 All-Americans to match the mighty 2001 Minnesota Golden Gophers. After all, all 10 wrestlers are now ranked in the top 8 by both Flo and Intermat. I have even heard tell of a an ancient manuscript found in a cave on Mount Nittany by a foreign traveler that prophesizes the addition of an eleventh weight this year just so PSU can lay waste to that record too. Enter Our Hero But wait. Isn't there a third major set of rankings? One that uses an inscrutable algorithm? An algorithm they may, or may not, take into account phases of the moon, astrological signs, and input from tarot card readers? Indeed there is. And what say you, WrestleStat, seer of seers, prognosticator of prognosticators? Well, now that is interesting. WrestleStat has PSU at 7.8 expected AAs, 1 full AA lower than Flo. And the source of that difference in expectations can be traced to two wrestlers. Luke Lilledahl and Braeden Davis. WrestleStat has Lilledahl four places lower and out of the AA positions. The comparison is even tougher for Davis at seven to nine spots lower and also loosing in the round of 16. But why is WrestleStat to be believe? Well, it turns out they were the only ones who saw Davis for what he wound up being last year. Prior to the conference tournament they had him ranked 14th (even after he only rose to 5th). Meanwhile Intermat took him from 9th to 1st after the conference tournament. Perfect 10 aka The Bo Derek of Wrestling (for the old men in the crowd) So, who is right this year? Will PSU finish with 10 (or 11?) AAs this year? Or will we see a stumble along the way? For what it is worth, my model gives them a 22.4% chance if Flo is right, but only a 2.3% chance if WrestleStat is right. Braeden Davis goes from a 76% chance to AA as a 4 seed (Flo) to a 19% chance as a 13 seed (WS). Big swing.2 points

That's one person's opinion. The government can keep printing money until trust or the market collapses. Deficits CAN help the economy but you can't ignore the downside of inflation, debt servicing, and tax hikes. I make a good salary and am still puking over insurance, college education, and housing costs. It will be EXCITING to see the waste cut from the pentagon. Am also looking forward to more waste reduction in Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.2 points

My read on Spencer is that if he continues with Freestyle in the long run and stays mostly healthy, he'll be in that Bruce Baumgartner tier: Possibly the best all around wrestler at his weight but with no seperation and has losses in him against the other medalists. I think the Zhou matches prove already that he's not going to destroy the field. So I don't really think that close win/loss to Ono would reveal much of anything.2 points

That was before both Iowa and Okie State started "bankrolling" their lineups with mercenaries. Now we just sit back and find out who gets the best bang for their bucks. I'm not against athletes getting something for their years of dedication/training. When I was in school, we called it an education. I'm just disgusted what NIL has done widening the disparity of programs based on who can buy the best talent. More money also means better facilities, regional training centers, etc... I want to warn you ahead of time, when I hit that billion dollar Mega Powerball jack pot, Mizzou is going to suddenly be in the relevant conversation with the "Royal Rich!"1 point

So fishy, it's not that you don't want waste reduced and/or eliminated, it's that it's not being done by someone acceptable to you. So let them cut the waste and see about everything you are concerned about when it is over. Then you can decide if it was enough for you. Right now, you are yelling at Johnny Appleseed because he's just throwing seeds all around rather then digging a hole and planting seeds. Apple trees essentially just throw their seeds all around. Now this is just an example. mspart1 point

When Musk unveiled the Tesla Semi he spotlighted the great acceleration and 500mi all with a total weight of 81,000lbs. He steered far away from publicly stating what portion of that number was cargo, which really is the most important weight number. Why do you reckon he would do such a thing? Could it be that the cargo capacity is embarrassingly low? The only commercial user of the Tesla Semi that I am aware of is Pepsi Co and they use it to transport chips. Pepsi Co says that when transporting a load of potato chips they get a range of around 450mi on a charge however a trailer full of soda only gets 100mi. I think we know why he did it. I don't think wanting to cut out waste and abuse is a left or right issue. Waste, fraud, and abuse should be eliminated. The problem is that Elon Musk is a fraudster. He's been on the supply side of fraud for years and now he is going to eliminate it?1 point

Can't dispute what SOME might think but MOST seem appropriately thrilled, as evidenced by the uniform standing ovations, the endless autograph lines, and the oohs and ahhs every throughout the two minutes or so of all his matches.1 point

I think the main thrust of Musk's email is people who work from home but who are not really working. They won't see the email and therefore will not respond. An easy way of finding those people. There are various agencies that have instructed their folks not to respond, but DOGE knows who those are. For those agencies that haven't instructed everyone to ignore, they will be looked at carefully. mspart1 point

100 percent stalling. It is also extremely difficult for the other wrestler to attack or be offensive, so it slows down the entire match. It is comparable to a bottom wrestler bellying out or curling up not to get turned. Ayala wrestles from his knees sometimes. Dake has used it in freestyle. I think both Ferraris use it because they are taller and their legs are exposed. I bet both would get taken down a lot more if they weren't allowed to stall. It can be effective as a stall tactic, but it should be called stalling.1 point
-
i dont think its a big enough of a problem to require being addressed. what annoys me more is 1. when people just push the other wrestlers out of bounds to try to draw stall calls with no intent on offensive action 2. when bottom wrestlers get called for stalling when the top wrestler has legs or is parallel riding and obviously not going for a turn1 point
-
I asked somewhere else. Show me a couple matches where a good wrestler repeatedly goes to one knee and his opponent, also a good wrestler, starts firing off shots at the now on one knee wrestler. What I am trying to suggest is that this tactic does remove action from the wrestling.1 point

Very well said. We should all put aside our differences to come together and send our thoughts and prayers1 point
-
It's stalling. When dropping to a knee a wrestler is avoiding engagement and taking a defensive position. If someone backs up throughout the match and likes to fire off shots when getting to the edge would you say that also is not stalling?1 point
