Jagger is my guy. he's a great dude and a wrestling fan thru and thru. i found him humorous on social media so i asked him to give it a whirl. it's not for everyone, but some people loved it. had a niche to it. but he has to take a hiatus to focus on some family stuff. anyway - that's why I bought intermat - to give people a chance to write and to be involved in what we love whether it's someone looking to start a career in writing of some sort or just as a hobby or to chat here on the message boards. i'm glad Jagger got to do it.6 points

Some guys just want to toe the line and scrap. These high volume guys know to give the people what they want. There are 17 ranked wrestlers with 14 or more matches this season. Observations: At 20 bouts, Sam "Man's Man" Latona has not met a tournament he doesn't love. Matt "The Dream Killer" Ramos is the only high volume guy who is still undefeated. 165 is not for the timid, or the tired. They lead all weight classes with no fewer than 5 ranked wrestlers with at least 14 bouts. 285 and 174 are the only other weights with three such wrestlers. 157, 184, and 197 appear to get more vacation days than their peers. You have to negotiate these things BEFORE you take the job. Duke, North Carolina State, and Virginia Tech are all out of the gate fast with two such wrestlers. And as a result no one can touch the ACC for volume with 7 ranked wrestlers making at least 14 appearances4 points

With a strong CKLV, Oklahoma State benefited the most in the Intermat rankings (and to some degree in Flo). They closed the gap to Iowa from 23 points last week to just 5 points this week. And Iowa still is awaiting Jacori Teemer's return, so their point total comes with a question mark (though Terry Brands says there has been divine intervention in his recovery).2 points

Do any of the D1 wrestling tournaments offer NIL deals? I was reading about the Players Era basketball tournament, which offered participating teams $1mil for participating as well as bonuses for advancing through the bracket and for winning. From ESPN: This seems like a much better implementation of NIL. Wrestling won't have anywhere near the prize money that basketball offers, but it would still be nice if sponsors setup a pool and awarded deals to participating wrestlers. It would encourage high-level participation, reduce ducks & MFFs, and help fund cash-starved programs. Tournaments like Midlands, Scuffle, etc. (and the media companies that broadcast them) would see new life. And it would create an automatic pool of high quality ambassadors for NIL sponsors. One catch with the basketball tournament is that the NIL money and goes to the schools' collectives. I'm not sure whether it would be better for NIL money to go directly to the athletes instead (or if it could work in an individual sport like wrestling), but overall I like this version of NIL more than deep-pocketed schools fishing around in the transfer portal and luring kids with bags. Or maybe it's all the same in the end, idk.2 points

Matt Ramos has had back-to-back-to-back 30+ match seasons, this will likely be his 4th in a row. Dude loves to scrap......he is also 6 wins from 100....2 points

Particularly on the backside of a tournament in freestyle. In that same tournament KOT beat David Carr 9-4 on the frontside of the bracket and David Carr beat Haines 8-2 on the backside of the bracket.2 points

I don't think anyone is a solid favorite over O'Toole in folkstyle. I know we all fall into the trap of looking at freestyle results when trying to predict folk matches, but it just doesn't translate cleanly.2 points

hopefully there's some discipline handed down over this, at least from the OSU AD if not from the NCAA. This is such a bad look for the team, the school, the conference, the sport and frankly the country, particularly in today's polarized political climate.2 points

Big 10 tournament is before NCAA tournament correct?2 points

Two ivy league degrees definitely is. Or do ivy degrees only count as an indicator of intelligence when someone you like has such a degree? Lots of smart people say obnoxious and offensive things. They can still be "bright."2 points

Being that you were not there, your past experience and how you feel you would have reacted had you been there are completely irrelevant. Especially when it comes to matter of law.2 points

I’m really hoping that Duke and Cunningham take a GS plus a RS. Wrestle freestyle for NLWC for a year and let some weight(s) clear out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

He seems to have crazy strength. I've seen him pull some legs to get a takedown that didn't look like he had a chance.1 point

Angel is at a crossroads here, as I see it. He needs desperately ,to break through and get one or two on the NCAA podium, in the next year or two. He has elevated the room talent 3 fold ,over Duane’s last 5 years in charge, but he needs a couple of hammers desperately to keep the momentum going forward. We’ll see. I think he needs a good recruiter in the program to get the job done. His only weakness as I see it. But a major flaw.1 point

That’s also a good point. About those wanting to come over leaving. We’ll see how it plays out, all we can do. I would think to some of these guys just being in the room is enough, meaning they know they are probably room guys with an outside shot to start. Some have after college wrestling aspirations and just like PSU, OLY and world medals are more important.1 point

The Big Ten Dual schedules are different to say the least. Sometimes you will have a dual against a league member and it not be an official conference dual. I would be surprised if Haines did not go out against O'Toole. With schedule that they wrestle there is no load management reasons for guys not to go. I really look forward to the match.1 point

Isn't it amazing that he is arguing about this...claiming how he claims he would act is exactly how every single person in the world should react...even while admitting to never being in their situation...what a joke!1 point

Funny, someone was just telling me over the weekend how Gatorade today tastes way different than it did in the 80s or 90s. The flavors are good, but they're all sickly sweet. I remember it being much more savory. I make my own electrolyte drink to consume after long rides or hikes with the same ingredients that @Warm Up Champ posted. Liquid IV hydration multiplier also has a diy recipe which is the same if not very very similar.1 point

My wife called me at work, in a state is distress. Our daughter had fallen off stairs landed face first on concrete. She looked like Warf from Star Trek. The ER was 1 mile from my house. The doctor ordered a cat scan to check for brain swelling. No bones were broke. No brains were swelled. Time healed all wounds. My insurance sent had me describe the 5Ws and How the accident occurred. The health care bill was only covered 20%. My insurance explained that the average cost of a cat scan in my community was 80% lower than I was charged. I provided a dictionary definition of community, and google mapped how this ER was the only hospital in my community. The insurance group paid my bill. 15 years later, I am still angry.1 point

Where in there did it say any of those witnesses claimed they had never seen anyone on drugs or had never seen anyone mentally ill before? It didn't, it said in all the years of NYC subway riding, they have never felt that. One who is using logical, unbiased thinking can come to an assumption that these people, having spent years riding NYC subways, have probably seen a person on drugs before. But they'd never seen anyone behave like that (which.....is kind of the point) Also, you seem to think that if you haven't experienced something, then just simply other people around the world have not as well, and it simply just can't be true. You are certainly within your rights to have that opinion, but it is an extremely narrow one when it comes to the views of the billions of other people in the world and their experiences.1 point

His graphic lists him as 149/157. Looks like a 149 to me. They have 4 guys in '25 class that are all number 1 or close to it at their weight, that are all middle weights,,,Vega 141/149, Robideau 149/157, Routledge 157, Lockett 165/174. Plus, Guerrero around there and now Wolbert. Forrest and Bassett just visited, but even if they go somewhere else, someone pretty good is going to be left out.1 point

He said in the interview that he and coach Taylor have talked about which weight, but with him being only a Jr nothing is in stone, but he did say that it will be one of those two. He said he would need to fill out more to get to 149.1 point

How many times did AJ get majored true Fr year or when was the last time he got majored? If the match were next week I'd be willing to bet a lifetime supply of cherry Pop-Tarts for winner or loser has to watch Unfrosted ten times in a row no breaks. But alas ... I'm with H3 and don't think it'll ever happen.1 point

You said. And I’ll quote. “He did not threaten anyone” now your saying his words only made them feel threatened. Even though he did in fact say he was going to kill people….. and he was going to jail today. do your goal posts have an anchor in the ground or do they float around like a boat in the open sea?1 point

Passengers said that Neely was threatening them and they were scared in a way they have never been after 30 years of subway use. One witness testified to the grand jury that Neely’s menacing words — which included ravings that “someone is going to die today” and that he was “ready to go to Rikers” — were “insanely threatening” and delivered with a “sickening” and “satanic” bent. A witness “believed he was going to die as Neely began approaching him,” the motion read. “He described the moment as ‘absolutely traumatizing’ beyond anything he had ever experienced in six years riding the subway,” the lawyers wrote. And a different person — this time, a retiree who’s been riding the subway for more than three decades — told the grand jury that she’d never been more scared. “I have encountered many things, but nothing that put fear into me like that,” she testified. Passenger Moriela Sanchez's 911 call said that Neely was “trying to attack everybody.” Passenger Caedryn Schrunk said "There was a moment where I truly thought I was going to die," Another witness — who was with her young son — told the grand jury that Neely said he wanted to hurt people. “I want to go to Rikers, I want to go to prison,” she recalled him saying, adding that her nervous son asked her why the man would want to be jailed. “Mother and son took cover behind her son’s stroller, shielding themselves from Neely, who was now making ‘half-lunge movements’ and coming within a ‘half a foot of people,” the attorneys wrote. Another witness, who was commuting from her high school, said she put her hand on her classmate’s chest and began “praying them doors would open” the second Neely said someone would die. Other passengers said that Neely was throwing trash at passengers I cannot find the 52-page motion with eye witness testimony available to the public. Above are lesser discussed newspaper quotes from passengers.1 point

Waters won by injury default. Not sure why the brackets show it as a pin. It may well have been a tech absent the injury, as Waters was up big. Regardless, even if someone else (Alton?) pinned their way through, I'm personally more impressed by a guy who can tech his way through the competition -- especially when the closest (longest) match is one that went just 23 seconds into the second period. The other crazy thing is that most of these points are coming from takedowns. Looking at those short times, you'd think it's a Spencer Lee type match where he takes the guy down and racks up a bunch of back points in a series of tilts. But you'd be wrong. It's almost all takedowns. No doubt the 3 point takedown played a big role in letting him rack up the techs so quickly, but man, he is FAST. I think it was his semi match that I counted 3 takedowns before 15 ticks were off the clock. Not trying to oversell him. Against top competition, he ekes out wins just like everyone else (e.g. Valencia, Zepeda, etc). But if his opponent is a level below him, it's just a whole different ballgame. I don't think I've ever seen anyone who can rack up so many TDs so quickly. It's something to behold.1 point
