Let me to the second half for you -- from below. It's a bit easier. 125 -- Masoumi techs his way through the tournament. Kueter has a great shot at a medal, but there are a number of wrestlers I think around his level. The Russian. Büyükçıngıl. Dursinov. Maybe that's about it 97 -- Aitmukhan for gold, Babaloo for silver (or bronze if on same side). Karsanov and Nukhaev other medals. Rademacher I think dnp 92 -- Malachdibirov vs Mirasola, I think Mirasola is favored for gold but it's like 55/45. There are no other legitimate contenders here I think. 86 -- Kadiev techs his way through the tournament. Iranian, Barr, Bors, I guess other medals. 79 -- Begenjow, Gogritchiani are good here. + Irani. I've no idea how good Saidulov is. But he's a russian. Ryder I dont have much hope in. dnp4 points

All valid points from a viewing perspective, but I think the overall flaw is when watching, we tend to watch freestyle wanting it to be folkstyle. Expecting takedowns to be the same, such as a quad pod. Freestyle is about exposing your back, not about control, which is a crucial element to American folkstyle. it’s the same sport, but to use Olympic parlance, a different discipline. From a viewer perspective, I find riding time to be the biggest detriment to the uneducated sports fan in trying to get them to watch college wrestling. No style is perfect, I just wish more people could appreciate the styles for what they are vs. what they’re not. We don’t do the metric system here but it doesn’t mean it’s worse … imperial is just what we are used to.4 points

Guys, we just changed ad service. we didn't 'turn up' frequency of ad placement or anything. i can understand your hatred of too many ads, but i promise you it's not on purpose. i want everyone to enjoy coming to the site. it's an entirely new service, so there's bound to be some tweaks. give @BobDole a moment to fine tune it. and continue to let us know here, what you're seeing (apparently we're all seeing different things). thank you.3 points

57kg: I expect Luke to medal I think he is world level for seniors let alone u20's. In his way I think will be Valizadeh from Iran who was the 2023 senior world rep for iran and grabbed two wins over an unknown and Rzazde from Azerbijan who is tough. He also has a win over Horst Lehr who infamously pinned thomas gilman. There is also the Japan rep who I am sure is good and then Pavlov from Russia who recently won euros but Luke beat him last year 9-2. Prediction: gold but Iran worries me 61kg: I think Marcus Blaze is the best high school wrestler I've ever seen just given the accolades of the guys hes beaten as well as how sound his defense is, that being said this weight is brutal. Jamal Abbasov took second at Euros and beat ben davino 5-0 at cadets last year. The guy he lost to at Euros 6-1 is Andrei Midlovets who teched his way to the finals before beating Abbasov. Ono from Japan was up at 65kg for the senior Asian championships where he took third only falling to tumur ochir. Edik Harutyunyan is also a returning bronze from 57kg last year. Prediction: Gold Blaze is that dude 65kg: I am very interested to see how Bo does here. I think his pace could be a serious issue for the international guys. I am worried that he snaps guys into his legs sometimes and that could prove to put him in a hole he can't dig himself out of. Abdullah toprak doubled up on bronze medals last year at u20's and u23's taking a 3-1 loss to Mendez at u20's. He also managed to score 4 points on Amouzad this year which is 4 more than Zain scored. The Iranian is also a returning Bronze medalist from last year and won the asian championships this year as well as a cadet gold in 2021. Hosokawa from Japan took 5th at the emperors cup. He took bronze at Asians last year and has a win over 2022 u20 champ Jalalov. Prediction: Bronze for Bassett 70KG: Would be a bit surprised if Duke did not win gold I think his only fault is he gets a bit tired but what he did to kannon webster twice was quite insane. Karampour from iran teched his way through asians so hes definitely a stud. Baitukaev did the same through Euros and I think will be his biggest test. He took Bronze last year and lost to Meyer 8-0. It was a match that came down to a few exchanges though but I still think its a match I favor PJ in. Prediction: Gold for Duke 74kg: Similarly to Duke I think Dee should be the favorite at this weight. Yaprak from Turkey is tough he took third and 5th and u20 and u23 euros ironically the third was in u23's. Locketts biggest threat is Reza from Iran who took silver at 70kg last year losing to Meyer 11-6. He teched his way through Asians and took third at the second ranking series beating Bayramov 5-0 and actually going the distance with zhamolov losing 7-0. Prediction: Gold for Lockett I will do the second half in a bit I've grown tired.3 points

Yes, Timmy will be there to protect Kamala (hold her hand) from the in-your-face probing questions from Dana Bash. LOL Will Kamala be questioned for her recent epiphany on the (Medieval, Vanity) border wall, banning all fracking in Pa. and (no more health insurance Company's) Medicare for all? There isn't a snowball's chance in hell.3 points

IIRC, Gabe Dean went from a 3/1/1/2 NCAA record at Cornell to <checks notes> not winning another match at Penn State. Definitely didn't improve at PSU. Sad!3 points

There are screen shots in the non topic forum for the last two days Link below . There seems to be a 435k cap on the size of attachment screen shots now…. Seems like that was changed today or yesterday. im in sales. I’m in tech. I know $ is needed to pay the bills. These are so invasive you will lose posters in droves. If you lose posters in droves you lose the ad traffic….. .2 points

Releasing truthful details of the incidents would tarnish the reputation, maybe incriminate, powerful people and gov’t entities. It might even lead to the citizens demanding a change in their government. It would be embarrassing and taxing to the ruling class.2 points

I just don't understand why some on here always feel like others are "mad", "angry", "afraid"...again, did I miss the memo that said when you are losing a debate you need to accuse others of those things and somehow that makes you feel like you are "winning" and/or that you are somehow a "better" person???2 points

Most prob didn't realize Imperial is base 10. The acre is a unit of land area used in the British imperial and the United States customary systems. It is traditionally defined as the area of one chain by one furlong (66 by 660 feet), which is exactly equal to 10 square chains, 1⁄640 of a square mile, 4,840 square yards, or 43,560 square feet. A chain is a larger unit of length measuring 100 links, or 4 rods.2 points

A few random thoughts- Most people that watch freestyle/greco are probably watching the Olympics/Worlds or years ago (70s/80s) when there would be a USA/USSR dual somewhere locally. Most of the time both wrestlers are so good that you won't see much happen. When you watch HS/College (esp HS) most bouts are mismatches so you can get excited. Plus there's the parochial aspect of it in HS/College that creates a bias. Yes, we are biased towards the USA but we didn't generally know our guys that well (current video helps us learn the newer guys). I would probably favor intl style returning to some limitation on repetition of moves like guts/laces. Especially in greco where the refs might make an arbitrary decision on who to call passive first which leads to the end of match without giving the other guy a shot at same. Over the last several years when step outs were introduced, most people were concerned about it but after working with it most seem to like it. It's not a lot of bouts that only have step outs and it forces people to stay on the mat.2 points

There isn't a cap on your screenshot limit, you reached the max for the site. Maybe you should limit the amount of pictures you have of drag queens and you won't use the space up so quickly.1 point

#1 This is Willie's site, I am a public servant, just doing what the man wants #2 Ads pay the bills #3 If some functionality is being blocked as some are saying, please respond with what the issue is in as much detail as possible. Please include what browser(Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc) and what device(laptop, desktop, iPhone aka losers, Android, etc). That will help in seeing the issues and passing them along. I can already tell the popup in the lower right is causing some issues. On mobile devices you should be able to scroll down to get past the ad to input a reply, but I only see that on my fantastic Android phone. Sorry guys, in Heaven we only use Androids. If you can't get screenshots added to the topic, email them to me at intermat.forum@gmail.com.1 point

I cannot even add the pics I added yesterday in the non wrestling topics section…. The thread about ads being out of control. Which has pics I’ll describe below. Someone changed that apparently too……. because they are now to big. Same single screen photos from my iPhone. they consume the screen. They follow your scrolling and annoyingly get clicked way too much. It’s hard to click quote or respond because they are constantly in the way. I can barely see what I’m typing sometimes because it’s u see the darn ads. when you close them the re open. One literally spreads a red square or blue banner across all of the outline of the screen. It’s like the ads are from a used car dealership. They’re awful and will ruin the traffic on this site.1 point

it's a thing where a group creates a problem and then blames trump b/c they hate trump. then a new problem unrelated to anything.. is then blamed on trump. and then someone tweets something.. about something in football... or wrestling or baseball.. and someone blames...1 point

I have no idea what Gable should do and it’s totally weird that I thought about it, but what if he played college football? Is it too late for that?1 point

https://www.buffalobills.com/news/bills-sign-16-players-to-2024-practice-squad Nope. There is zero shame in not making the practice squad. He is undersized and has no football experience. A lot of these practice squad players are there because they would be ready to fill in if there is an injury.1 point

There was a time when hand to hand turns where one point and turns with true back exposure was two points. Seems logical that if you are sitting up going hand to hand and actually not exposing your back there should not be points being scored1 point

Yeah I dont know that its credible but it makes a lot of sense. With Gilman, Fix & RBY to train with and OSU appears to need a 133, Witcraft is what he is, looks like a struggle for Hughes to get there and is that really DT's style. BTW I didn't realize there are 2 Hamiti on the roster. Have I just not been paying attention or is @flyingcement holding back on info?1 point

For whatever reason it seems pretty clear that he doesn't want to wrestle be it freestyle or folk. Good luck to him in his endeavors. As to NIL, I know there is no way to prove how much guys get, but I just can't see these groups sending hundreds of thousands of dollars at wrestlers. You see reports that players are getting 100's of thousands or even millions but I just can't see it if it is coming from a school's NIL collective. If you sign with Nike maybe I get it but it is hard for me to believe that Mitchell Messenbrink or Ben Kueter is getting a ton of money from collectives.1 point

Good example here of why leg lace techs are the goofiest thing to me about freestyle. Mocco still gets points even when his opponent is basically getting spun around while upright, rather than getting his back exposed. Not that my opinion matters but leg laces appear to be the easiest way to turn an opponent. I certainly see more leg laces by quantity than guts or literally any turn in folkstyle. This is where I'm curious what athletes think about it rather than assuming I know from watching.1 point

Thats fair. It doesnt make it any more satisfying to watch though. And freestlye fans constantly talk about how the sport needs to be exciting. Leg laces are one of the most common complaints of uneducated viewerrs/new fans when they first see freestyle. Almost no one sees somebody secure a leg lace, roll through 3 times and thinks it looks awesome or exciting. Its not exactly intuitve to a combat sports fan why its such a high scoring technique either. It doesnt appear to accomplish anything from a control perspective, which is what is generally thought of in wrestling. I know freestyle is about quick exposures but to the uninitiated or to people who value control a leg lace is just not a satisfying way to get points for a turn.1 point

Both the B Team and Danaher (and Ryan and the DDS (or whatever it is now called)) are based out of Austin,TX and have been so for years. Flo is also based out of Austin and has a great presence in the grappling world. Most of the BJJ money is in instructional videos and Austin prob has more high level BJJ practitioners than anywhere in the US... it makes sense for Nolf to move Ocean down there.1 point
-
Bjj starts standing and from there the similarities in a lot of ways end. Of course, being able to dictate where the bout takes place is big and leg riding can be a factor as a body triangle or double boots to flatten someone out can be two of the most dominant positions. In my opinion the only thing that allows for there to be more money in BJJ is the fact that Joe rogan and Jocko are so vocal about it. The Hub of BJJ is actually in Texas and puerto rico now I believe with Craig jones and nick rodriguez's gym in Texas and the danahar death squad in puerto rico (where gordon ryan trains). Michael pixley was a fargo champ and Nicky rod started wrestling but they also started training BJJ exclusively 5-10 years ago.1 point
