I dunno, avoiding spoilers during the Olympics by clicking on an international wrestling forum is about as effective as avoiding arm ties with Amit Elor by choosing to wrestle against Amit Elor.4 points

Lopez did not wrestle from 2016 to 2020 and surprised with his entry at Tokyo. He has not done anything since then and is in the finals in Paris. This guy has basically wrestled 1 tourney since 2016 and is likely to be 2024 gold medallist in just his second tourney since 2016. mspart3 points

It's not a refusal to engage: it is an impossible task against Elor, who when her career is finished will be acknowledged as the greatest US wrestler in history.3 points

Ok, you guys are right. I wish Micic a speedy recovery, and it sucks he had to pull out of the Olympics.3 points

I was going to post something mean, but then it dawned on me that you might just be jealous. I imagine that is a bad headspace to be in. Mental health awareness in men is important and I am here for you, if you need soemone.3 points

Okay... I'll play the part of the Old Maid and start this thread. Day 1 will start the GR tournament @ 60 & 130Kg. Adam Coon @ 130kg will be the first one up (literally, folks as he's going up against the Iranian who nabbed the first seed (do anyone thing he's lucky today?) No US rep @ 60Kg... but we DO have Amit Elor @ 68Kg going up against the #1 seed from Turkiye (I'm so used to sayin' Turkey here... muscle memory!) I would think the Turkish woman would be wondering here, about who she ticked off to get Elor as a 1st round opponent? LET the WRESTLING BEGIN! D32 points

Biden was voted in the primaries and had the delegates. Harris did not. But Biden endorsed Harris and it appears the delegates followed to her. So legitimate and not at the same time. There was no competition in the primaries. If Joe had not run, and Kamala had to duke it out with other Ds, she would have lost. in 2020, she dropped out before a vote was cast. She is that bad. She has not held a news conference fielding questions for 2 weeks. Why? Because she sounds like a HS student trying to fill a void with word salad hoping to impress everyone with the amount she can talk while actually making no sense. To wit, her comments on inflation https://www.foxbusiness.com/politics/kamala-harris-admits-inflation-heavy-weight "Prices have gone up and families and individuals are dealing with the realities of the bread costs more, the gas costs more, and have to understand what that means," she said. "That’s about the cost of living going up. That’s about having to stress and stretch limited resources." Harris said that is a "source of stress for families" that is "not only economic, but is, on a daily level, something that is a heavy weight to carry." "It is something we take very seriously, very seriously," she said, adding that historically, when prices go up, "it has a direct impact on the quality of life for all people in our country." "It’s a big issue and we take it seriously and it is a priority for us," Harris said, adding that the administration has addressed it "in a number of ways." That gives me loads of confidence that she knows what she is talking about. She is just inane. mspart2 points

16-man tournament. Opportunity to run a true double elimination with no wrestler competing in more than three bouts per day. But, FILA/UWW have never cared to use/understand the American bracket (you should've seen some of their attempts in 1995-96) and they never will.2 points

He is. Left Cuba because he was behind Lopez. Smart. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yasmani_Acosta#:~:text=Acosta started wrestling in Cuba, and the Cerro Pelado International.2 points

It isn’t making anyone “not people”. They aren’t being put in a smaller box. You can’t impregnate me any more than you can any other man. It’s just reality. Laugh away. It won’t change facts or reality.2 points

Not much of a size advantage, but a very large talent advantage. Elor dominated bigtime.2 points

Doubt there is a head on conflict between Iran and Israel/US with boots on the ground. Most likely Iran through back channels will tell Israel and the US their plan. It will get thwarted but it will be enough for the Iranian leadership to go to their followers and grandstand. The US has been tolerant of Iran because of their large secular population and believe in the long run Iran will join the West again2 points

Nope. They are women. Women become pregnant. Since the dawn of time and until the end of the earth. No amount of woke nano nonsense will change that.2 points

That is a nuanced point that is fair. I’d argue it’s not a political winner compared to focusing on immigration or inflation because when you have parents from different races you don’t have to decide which you identify with-you can identify with both. And you can emphasize the different experiences at different times. However, he didn’t make that nuanced point. His exact words were “all of a sudden she’s black” when she has always been biracial. If anything, she has identified more with being black since she went to Howard. I don’t think she had some political plan in mind when she did that. If he focused on her being far to the left of Biden, I think he’d be much better off than what he has done.2 points

Terrible news! I can only imagine how devastating it must be to train your whole life for an event only to lose that opportunity due to an injury from practice a few weeks before take the Olympics!2 points

I think her platform is just that she isn't Trump. It's stupid that we are basically having the exact same election for the third time in a row. If Desantis had won the nomination, I don't think this would be close. Trump is probably still the favorite, but it is way closer than it should have been given the circumstances...And Trump keeps self-sabotaging with things like picking J.D. Vance as V.P. and pretending to not understand that people can be biracial to attack her for being black (neither of those things will play well in the suburbs). When Biden was the nominee, Trump was running an extremely disciplined campaign and basically just letting Biden implode with his ineptitude...Now that whole thing is out the window and we have one candidate attacking the other for being "weird" and the other attacking based on racial identity. Not our finest hour.2 points

i don't disagree. personally, at this point, i find the racial identity back and forth (from both sides) juvenile and boring. to me, where it may once have served a real purpose for change, that ship has sailed. i'd much rather get back to the constituency having their focus on policy and data.1 point

I get they “seed” the wrestlers but with the top UWW point acquirers aren’t often the weight class favorite. For most of the women being on the opposite side as Japan is probably the slightly easier route to a final.1 point

would not hate Guchi off the scale Id obviously much rather him have a cake walk draw but I think Guchi match 1 is probably at his weakest although they have like 4.5 hours off the scale which is insane.1 point

I think he's got a better chance at beating Tazhudinov than Sadulaev. I know he was out of his mind at worlds last year, but Snyder just kept getting rolled through on his shots. I think if he just Wrestles a bit more conservatively, tries to grind him down... Or maybe I'm wrong and he'll affirm his WC with an OC. But, I like Snyder's chances.1 point

With Michael North moving on from college wrestling, Dario Lemus completing his redshirt and ready to start at 141, the younger brother Kal Miller is bumping from 141 to 157 while Ethen stays at 149. Separately David Szuba, heavyweight MAC champion last year is redshirting this year as a senior.1 point
