  3. Man, I hate having only 6 weights so bad!! A guy like Vito could be Olympic gold medalist, but there’s just no weight class that exists for his body size.

  4. "Technically not wrong" is another way of saying "right." Ohio State has undoubtedly had people on their rosters who transferred in. They have not landed anybody from the transfer portal, but Ryan just admitted they have tried. So Pyles "stirring up rumors that they're going after these guys" is not stirring up rumors, they're literally going after these guys. He admitted it. This all hinges on Ryan accusing Pyles of making a demonstrably false statement...that he never made. So there's no "technically." And you can't credibly "insinuate" that they have had portal transfers on their team; it's a binary, easily ascertainable statement. And, again, Pyles never said that. This is all about Ryan being in his fifis about something. I believe the saying is "hit dog gonna holler."

  11. The new tally for the student loan forgiveness !53 Billion dollars. Buying should be illegal. As a private citizen running for president can I go around and offer to pay off car loans or mortgages if you elect me.? Where in the real world can you get an unsecured loan for 120,000 dollars, with no credit, pay (a minimal low amount) on the loan for 25 years? When you got the loan, you had a non-existent credit rating. After 25 years you still owe 70,000 dollars and the bank says we are going forgive your loan and this won't affect your credit. Biden just gave out another 7.4 billion dollars yesterday. Whether Biden wins or loses this will be the most corrupt election ever.

Why did it take two centuries for India to gain its freedom in relation to the USA? What impact did the American Revolution have on British colonism and how it managed others like India? What impact did the USA have on India gaining its freedom?

  19. I was really under the belief he had one more good season left in him as the head coach. The team still looks decent, doesn't have the headache of Ferrari anymore, and had Scott riding shotgun to help take on some of that daily coaching grind. In true "Cowboy" fashion he just decides to ride off into the sunset of the off season rather than taking one last farewell tour. Still one heck of a career as a competitor and coach.

  23. It's not Askren's wrestling knowledge that would sink him. A major D1 wrestling program requires a guy who can not only coach and attract talent, but also knows how to win the favor of the alumni and get donations. Sad, but true. Askren doesn't have the discipline required to control his big mouth, it would be one idiotic controversy after another.

  30. That's plenty tough enough. And you made my point for me. Just like the operating room surgeon, you wear a mask to do your job. Not because it is comfortable. Anyone whining about wearing a thin easy mask to help each other out needs a swift kick in the ass.

  35. I listened to this just now, and disagree with the representation in this thread. Ryan was being weaselly and assigning statements to Pyles that Pyles never said. There might be some merit to a discussion as to the value of Pyles' original statement that ruffled Ryan's feathers, but on the points of discussion here, Pyles was right, Ryan was wrong. I think Pyles did ask something about this but Ryan demurred. Also, Pyles gave him the opportunity to make clear his vague allusions to other programs and how they handle it vs. Ohio States "beliefs."

  39. The US of A. The end of black enslavement in America. The removal of the wehrmacht from Western and Eastern Europe. I know those things are only about 250, 160, and 80 years old so it is kind of early to tell if they will last. But each was gotten when the good guys wielded not only the barrels of guns but also the high velocity projectiles emanating from the ends of those barrels. Asking the British parliament and monarchy, asking the slaveholders, and asking the wehrmacht to see the light was spectacularly unsuccessful. Maybe no one said the magic word. Please.

  40. Essentially Pyles tweeted that all the top teams are involved in the portal. Someone replied and said not tOSU. Pyles said that's wrong. Tom Ryan took that as Pyles saying tOSU is doing shady things and basically called Pyles out for it.

  41. Slightly off topic but got me thinking, ‘86 started a bad run for Iowa at 118, particularly by their standards. No qualifier in ‘86, Regan seeded 5 but DNP in ‘87, then 3 years of Steve Martin = DNP in ‘88, 7th in ‘89, and DNP IN ‘90. 5 years and best to show is a 7th place. Abysmal during Gable era. Zap got it back on track the next 3.

  43. Its not a free market. We cannot be trusted to regulate ourselves. Hence why the laws had to be passed in the first place. 12hour days. Children laboring in mines and mills. Can you say with a straight face that companies wouldn’t(and in Arkansas they have relaxed child labor laws already) angle to get back to those days for the sake of profit? We work to provide for our families and loved ones. We work to protect what we’ve built and to grow it to ensure our lineage. Power and influence begets power and influence. Its not easily relinquished once given/taken. Ask any dictator in history. Power is not peacefully transferred after violently acquired. Companies do this on a regular basis. Buying smaller competitors so as to limit competition, retain market share, or maintain profit margins. https://www.everycrsreport.com/reports/RL32844.html#:~:text=The%20Commerce%20Clause%20of%20the,persons%20outside%20of%20that%20state. Congress can regulate commerce. If someone doesn’t like the law they can challenge it. But I imagine it was and survived. https://www.enzuzo.com/blog/biggest-compliance-fines A few of the many things that happen in a ‘quasi-free’ market despite laws to regulate these actions. If there were not laws to combat this behavior would it be better or worse? https://www.statista.com/statistics/224577/hsbcs-profit/ HSBC fine $1.256B for aiding Iran, Cuba, Libya, Sudan, and Burma launder money. In 2012 alone they made $15.33B in profits. Was it a big enough fine in your opinion? Also, if there weren’t laws on the books and agencies to investigate and hold them to account, would any light be shone onto their misdeeds or is protecting $15B+ in profits a large motivator to keep things covered up?

  44. Off the top of your head. What are the different things that need to be figured out before moving from one side of a state, say California, to the other? Lets say you had a child between 2 and 5 or between 5 and 17. Lets try to list the areas of concern(this is by no means an exhaustive list): Where to move, town/city which area is best most affordable best schools, job prospects house or apartment rent or buy Rent: what do we need, what can we afford, need to fill out applications, put down deposits, pet or no pet, do we rent now, is there a penalty for leaving early, do we still need to pay out the rest of our lease Buy: where, how much, set up financing, put down an offer, offer accepted(far from a lock today), set up closing, sign paperwork, wait for however long before the sellers move out, can take months, do I own my house now, need to sell it, put it on the market, how long can we afford to wait for it to sell, Do I/we have job prospects there? Apply online, maybe interview online(if it’s a restaurant job, that might not be possible until you arrive in person, that might add some stress to the move) Do we have family that can help cover costs or offer a place to stay while we settle? School Daycare; cost, location, availability, Public school: enrollment, what paperwork needs to be filled out, can it be done online? Transfer records/grades/classes Private school: if this is an option, reach out to start the process, pay the app fee, get accepted, pay the tuition *I have a feeling your first instinct will be to poke holes into each area that a restaurant employee might(and that is going to carry a lot of weight I imagine) not typically fall within. But the point is its not as easy as you might want it to be to make your suggestion possible. * The move: Moving our stuff, by car or by truck. Can we afford a truck on a restaurant employee salary. Move furniture and appliances or sell them to raise money and save on moving cost. Will we be able to move right in to wherever we have found to live? Will we need to stay in a hotel/motel to transition to a new place? Now lets imagine its to another state. What other things might we need to consider now that the move has gone from, say 100-200 miles, to 500+, how to arrange all these things while working a fast food job and trying desperately to feed your family and better your situation. While these obstacles can be overcome. It does take quite a bit of time and energy to check all the boxes off the list before confidently making a decision so momentous for your family. This task is made that much more herculean with fewer resources to pull from. As might be the case of someone you suggested to ‘just move’ as an employee of a fast food restaurant making, up until recently, $15.50/hour. Seems as if your comment, ‘just move’ is overlooking all the things that actually go into moving. Especially if you have a family, even a small one. You’ll probably come back with, what you think is a funny quip that renders my point moot, while also not addressing the gaping holes in your idea. I know using the word ‘privilege’ sends you into a white-hot rage so I doubt you’re even reading anymore if you’ve made it this far in the first place. But that your first thought/suggestion is something so myopic and ignorant yet not at all surprising coming from you in your place of PRIVILEGE! Other issue Math: 59 stores at $15.50/hour with, let’s say 30 full time employees = $57,064,800 in yearly wages alone 68 stores at $20/hour = $99,008000, nearly double From a corporate perspective, that would be a lot of the bottom that needs to be made up by just 8 or 9 stores. By making those cuts you save $40m+ in wages alone, not to mention maintenance of 8 or 9 buildings. Maybe you lose out on 4/17s of previous year’s profit but if its as much or less than $44m, you’ve just increased your profits from having to pay people more for the same job. Execs don’t need to take a pay cut and probably get bonuses. Investors get their checks. Its win/win for everyone except for the 240-270 people that now don’t have a job. Upside, they can just move.

  47. I have been reluctant to respond to some of the comments on here. Many of you have different thoughts on this matter. My grandfather served in combat World war 1. My father served in combat in World War 2 and passed away at the age 41 . 5 of my Uncles also served in World War 2 .All of them passed away from Huntington's Korea at he age of 40 to 43. My older brother passed away at the age of 18, 3 weeks after he had enlisted in the Navy. I had 7 cousins who served, most of them in combat. One of them after serving in Vietnam was killed 3 weeks after returning home in a car accident. The driver ran a stop sign. My son and 3 son in laws have served in combat. On was injured with an I.E.D but made it home. 2 are still actively serving. My daughter in-law served in the Army. I'm not telling you what you should do as an American that is your decision. But I for one will stand for the National Anthem with a ( sense of pride and sadness) knowing the sacrifices of these men and women and their families have gone through. Side note. None of these men or women expected recognition or special honors for their service. They are very humble and unassuming. The last 12 words of the National Anthem have a special meaning to me.

  48. Just a reminder that Pat Downey Jr. aka BlueDragons owes $100 to a Champaign, IL women's and children's shelter for losing a bet. I matched his outstanding gift in good faith and maybe that scumbag family can come through because better late than never to do the right thing. If he does show up (he won't) then I hope he gets a rematch with Aaron Brooks round one and the tech fall limit is raised to 100 points.
