  1. LCQ is in Turkey about 2.5 weeks after trials, so our reps won't have a ton of time to travel, setup camp, and acclimate. The tough thing about moving up OTT/WTT is that it already presses up pretty close to NCAAs and our own US LCQ. I like the process now, giving our standing reps first choice of participating in qualifying events. Letting anyone wrestle-off for the spot anytime disrespects our reps and defeats the purpose of having a national team or trials. Things haven't fallen in our favor under the current system this time, but it is what it is. I feel better about the Olympic LCQ taking the top 3 finishers and like our chances of sending someone to Paris at 57 and 65.

  3. Glazier was 9-7 as a sparsely used backup prior to this season. This year he's 16-1 with over 70% of his wins by way of bonus, including an 11-2 major over Silas Allred (probably his best win). He doesn't have many "premium" wins with his win over Allred and Surber from OSU probably being his biggest wins. How good is he? The way I see it, Glazier rode the bench behind Jacob Warner, a 5 time All American (including 2020). A lot of really good wrestlers would've rode the bench behind Warner. I remember getting whipped by a "B" team kid back in HS. I was astonished because I was an All State wrestler myself, how could the B team kid beat me? Because he was B team behind a dominant 3 time state champion, who he wrestled everyday in practice. I didn't feel so bad when that 190 pound B teamer only lost to the 4A State HWT champ 4-3 . That said, Warner was not a super dominant champion or anything, but I think Glazier looks pretty solid, especially considering his close match vs a rusty Ferrari. I think Glazier will finish top 5. What do you guys think?

  4. The problem isn't anything other than the guys that went didn't get the job done. It's that simple. They were both favored to win and had beaten their opponent previously. If other people wanted to try and qualify the spot they should've qualified to even wrestle in the tournament. They should've beat Zane or Nick then they should've qualified for the World Championships last year. Or challenged and beat them and taken their spots. They didn't and that's on them. If you don't want your fate in someone else's hands then make sure it's in yours.

  5. Pan-Ams is the weird federation. The rest do theirs in April except Africa/Oceania end of March. Pan-Am OG should be moved to fit the calendar better like the rest of the world.

  6. Wow, the Big 12 looks pretty strong based on those seedings. The Big 10 is still the granddaddy, but the Big 12 is strong.

  7. Agree top 5. The guy seems to do a lot of important things, which aren't at all flashy, really well. He's persistent and in shape, shoots enough to keep people honest, competent but not amazing on the mat and in scrambles, never gets beaten badly in tie ups....he's just a tough out.

  11. Ultimate bragging rights - seriously? NOW you tell me. I won last year and didn't even brag once. Aw, crap. If I try to brag now, I'll just look desperate. Let this be a lesson to this coming year's winner... brag while you can. Don't wait until the end of the 3rd.

  12. Few fun facts about seeds = placement: 580 times the final place matched the seed The most in a single weight class is 5, which has happened 9x (2017 - 197 is the most recent) 4 = 31x 3 = 94x 2 = 189x 1 = 257x Back when there were only 4 seeds the placements were exact in 1942 @ 155 & 1959 @ 130. It has never happened with more than 4 seeds. The weight with the most seed=places is 177, which has happened 67x. The most times in a year it has happened is 2006 with 25. The least amount of times in a year (with at least 8 seeds) is 2007 with only 9x. Per seed - the number of times it has happened: 401 (1st) 232 (2nd) 137 (3rd) 110 (4th) 68 (5th) 60 (6th) 44 (7th) 34 (8th)

  13. That is not what they cited. They said he was disqualified for interfering with another swimmer. That part of the rule reads: "Any competitor who interferes with another swimmer during a race shall be disqualified from that race, subject to the discretion of the referee." If ever there was a time for discretion it was then.

  14. Well, that means Zane should have wrestled last week and S Lee this week. Looks like Lee is going to the last chance unless something drastic happens. Who goes in place of Nick Lee? This is serious now! Everyone thought this was no big deal. But a big deal it has become. mspart

  15. That is really incredible. Did not have a high school team . Which means he did not have a normal wrestling season. Yet won his state championship.

  16. It is absolutely nuts that Trump is begging everyone for donations at every turn. Take time to consider other billionaires. Forbes Billionaires 2023: The Richest People In The World Not something Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffett, Larry Page, Steve Ballmer, and Mark Zuckerberg would do. Trump begs for money because he's nothing like the previously mentioned people who are extremely successful. It isn't a pretty sight - but the fact is that Trump is a loser.

  27. It occurred after the race was over, including the lane he went into, so kinda, yeah. This seems comparable to the high school “taking down your singlet straps” rule (although at least it’s just a team point and not a DQ). It can be called a lot more than it is even though it’s technically “no judgement allowed”

  29. No changes should be made. The US is in a golden age for freestyle. If it's not broke then don't fix it. Just remember to keep focus on where the wrestlers are from rather than the laundry they are wearing.

  34. Meh. I want better sport. The sport is enhanced by having more high level athletes competing in it. In my mind, we're better off having Gomez rep Mexico then whomever they would put out in normal circumstances. Also, it's not really cheating so much as one might argue a lack of competitive spirit.

  36. it was subtle, but if you pause it right before the feet to back, you'll see a clear circular void appear just above Lee's left kneecap

  37. I mean they both rested during that time. Clearly it was gamesmanship, but too many people acting like he pulled out a gun and shot Lee in the kneecaps. If a fake injury is all it takes to tech our rep, we have bigger problems.
