  1. I posted a vid from a news show called meet the press that aired in 2008 where they were accusing him of giving hunter jobs via some fin services company with a 6 figure salary and taking a ton of campaign contributions in exchange for helping pass a bill for said company. Let’s say he’s likely been doing it forever. Let’s also likely say politics are corrupt af and it takes place across both parties at state local and federal way more than us civilians think.

  3. i could always understand people not liking Trump, but i could never grasp how people, smart people, denied that Biden was crooked af and that his brain was melted. as for Tapper - he lied the entire time, denying what all rational human beings could plainly see, and then when his side lost, he wrote a book..... telling all rational human beings what we already knew. can't make it up.

  4. That is what I will never understand...why does this bother people so much?? I don't practice any sort of religion, but I couldn't care less if someone else does and talks about it. I certainly wouldn't care enough about it to question who they are as a person because of it. Guess I am just not as perfect as some on here and can overly criticize people they have never met because God and religion is super important to them. I have a thought...maybe some of you should just mute your tv's or fast forward through clips whenever someone is being interviewed post match??

  8. You're not wrong - but the trick is what new spending do we NOT introduce and what spending do we CUT/LIMIT? I'll start: NOT introduce new spending The ultra-expensive 'Golden Dome' that is mostly in the idea phase with budget killing costs for years to come (We don't have to kill it - but it can wait. We can't afford more defense dept contracts right now.) CUT tax breaks to the wealthy - let them pay their fair share of taxes SALT - It's a tax break that primarily benefits the wealthy. New tax breaks - No more breaks for the very wealthy. Let them tighten their belt just like everyone else NOT CUT the things that were promised to be not touched during the Presidential campaign Social Security - don't touch it. This was a clear mandate from the voters and a presidential promise. Medicaid - don't touch it. This was a promise by the president that he should keep If you think there's a good reason you can't keep your promises, be honest and tell the country. Good people don't make promises and then pretend they didn't when it suits them. Tell the truth. I'll add something more - some of which I've already mentioned in an earlier post: The White House has been clear that the ongoing tariff problems are going to be painful and could last a while before it starts to pay off. What they haven't said is that it could backfire and become a huge problem. The US citizens have been asked to tighten their belts, limit doll count for their kids, and be ready to feel some pain. The White House has also been clear about telling corporate America to be ready and accept the pain. Walmart most recently being told by the WH to 'eat' the added cost the tarrifs cost rather than raise prices to reflect them. The White House needs to tighten their belts, limit their expenses and be ready to feel some pain, too. Politicians aren't better than citizens - it's time they stop acting like they are. Boeing is on contract to build the next gen AF-1 ... full stop. Leave it alone. No more spending CUT Military parade for ~$90 million Redecorating the Oval Office with 24k gold? Seriously? We don't need that right now either. "Read the room"... or in this case "Read the country" CUT every single piece of non-essential luxury spending the WH has planned Regular Americans are tightening our belts. You have no legitimate excuse not to.

  19. You know...through all the stupid things he's done, I could make a bit of a defense for him IF he was going to take the money he got from the tariffs and then...of course, stop lying about the deals he's getting done(about half the things he got done in the Middle East are...years in the works, had nothing to do with him and were negotiated under Biden and given he actually did some things, there was really had ZERO need to lie about them)...but, if he was going to take the tariffs and use that to DIRECTLY attack the deficit, they'd still be a net negative and a bad idea, but I could understand the agenda. Instead, they're going add trillions to the debt. You are getting what you voted for.

  23. To be honest, i didn't see her pushing or shoving people, but she was getting pushed and shoved. So while I don't disagree with Little, I think this will tame the way Ds want to do their oversight. As Jonathan Turley says: The problem with the oversight claim is that McIver’s status as a member of Congress does not allow her access into closed federal facilities. Congress can subpoena the Executive Branch or secure court orders for access. However, members do not have immunity from criminal laws in unilaterally forcing their way into any federal office or agency. If that were the case, Rep. Alexandria Ocacio-Cortez would not have posted images of herself crying at the fence of an immigrant facility, she could have climbed over the fence in the name of oversight. Conversely, Republicans in the Biden Administration could have simply pushed their way into the Justice Department to seek the files on the influence-peddling scandal. So Congress has a right to oversight, but not to force their way in to gain oversight. There is a big difference there. Like I said, this shows the DOJ is ready to prosecute this and Ds should heed this. They probably won't and look like even bigger jerks than they look now to the American people. That's on them. mspart

  24. I will ask the question I have not seen asked. Does it matter that Moody's downgraded the US to Aa1? After all they are the third of three major rating agencies to do this, and the first one did it 14 years ago. And it is not like it affects anyone's ability to hold US government debt. And with the ability to print money it is not like a default is likely either (though for brinksmanship reasons it is sometimes threatened). So what does it really matter? If your answer is that it will make the cost of borrowing higher, that isn't true either. In 2011 interest rates on treasuries went down after S&P downgraded. If you are a corporate issuer it would be true, but the official rating of US government debt does not have any meaningful impact on demand for the securities, so rates are not affected by the rating. For sovereign credits ratings are mostly a trailing indicator. Moody's is just confirming what we all already know. Debt is too high, and the latest budget proposal only adds to the problem.

  26. With the USA's struggles at 65kg over the past twenty years and the revolving door that is USA reps at the weight, I went back year by year to 2006 and looked found every medalist in Worlds and Olympics. During this span, 12 wrestlers have represented the red white and blue. 6 of them were 1 time reps. 4 have represented the USA twice. Zain has been the man on three separate occasions, and Metcalf leads the pack with 4 trips to the World Championships. This made me wonder if other countries have had a similar lack of continuity with their representatives, as well as similar struggles to place at the worlds most competitive weight class. Here are the most to least medals by country since 2006. 1. Russia: 12 total medals from 8 different wrestlers. 4 gold, 2 silver, 6 bronze 2. Japan: 6 medals from 3 different wrestlers. 4 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze 3. India: 6 medals from two different wrestlers. 1 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze 4. Iran: 5 medals from 3 different wrestlers. 1 gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze 5: Georgia: 5 medals from 2 different wrestlers. 1 gold, 1 silver, 3 bronze 6. Cuba: 5 medals from 2 different wrestlers. 1 silver, 4 bronze 7. Hungary: 3 medals from Muszukajev. 1 gold, 2 bronze 8. Azerbaijan: 3 medals from two different wrestlers. 3 silver 9. Mongolia: 3 medals from two different wrestlers. 3 bronze 10. Turkey: 2 gold medals from Sahin. 11: USA: 1 gold from Zadick, 1 silver from Diakomihalis. 12. Italy: Chamizo 1 gold, 1 bronze / Armenia: 1 gold and 1 bronze. 13: Ukraine, Navruzov, Kazakhstan, Puerto Rico all with 1 silver and 1 bronze each. 14. Poland with 1 silver. 15. Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, and Albania with 1 bronze each. Some other interesting notes that I discovered during this research include.. No wrestler has won 3 golds at 65kg, and only three have claimed 2. Otuguru for Japan, Romonov for Russia, and Sahin for Turkey. Only Tushishvili of Georgia, Lopez of Cuba, Punia of India, Romonov, Muszukajev, and Yonemitsu have medaled 3 times at the weight. Only Tushishvili and Punia have earned four medals with 1 silver and 3 bronze respectively, and no one has 5 medals. Of the 40 medalists over the past 20 years, exactly 20 of those wrestlers earned just 1 medal at the weight class. I spent far too much time putting this together (I'm sure someone better with excel could have done it much faster than I) and maybe @Wrestleknownothing can create an interesting graphic from this information if it suits his interest. Nevertheless, if you actually take the time to read this, I'd love to for you to share any takeaways you might have from the information, how it pertains to USA wrestling, or just the landscape of 65kg as a whole.

  30. That ignores a whole lot of stuff. In spite of the fact that their average finish was third....read that again....their average finish was third.....across ten guys, it is only "underperformance" because their average seed was 2.6 AND they could do no better than finish first in any weight. I will go out on a limb here and say that no team will ever have an average seed of 2.6 or better AND outperform that seed with six or more wrestlers. The highest average seed to ever outperform their seed is 2024 PSU which was seeded 4.0 on average and finished 3.6 on average. Of course, to do that they needed the prohibitive favorite to get injured, forfeit two matches, and get seeded 9th so that there were 8 potential slots of improvement. Let's say Starocci was seeded first instead. Then they would have had an average seed of 3.2 and an average finish of 3.6 for an identical -0.4 performance as 2025.

  34. I would say that folk hinders wrestlers in the lower weight classes more. Stylistically most sports diverge more in the lower weight classes just due to physics. At heavyweight, there are less scrambles and less freestyle exposures. At heavyweight, in folk style, you are much more likely to give up a TD if you take a bad shot than at the lower weights, so big boys are more strategic naturally. Snyder, Gable etc look very similar in freestyle and folk with the biggest difference being the pushout. It may be a better question to ask why we are successful at 57 kg than why we are unsuccessful at 65. That might just be it is a less competitive weight class, or something else.

  36. This is definitely true, but I also think there is a lot to be said for having the freedom from pressure to develop, refine, and hone new technique and gameplans in the space between major competition. Our wrestlers have very little of that compared to their international competition. They spend much of their senior careers competing as if it were just an extension of the college schedule and at the college wrestling pace. Internationally, their competitors plan, pace and prepare for continental qualifiers and worlds as if it were a boxing or MMA event. Long runway, much better load management, and more free time away from the mental strain. It also doesn’t help that we have such a folkstyle-adjacent freestyle mindset. Prepping to beat american freestyle competition is very different from prepping for the styles of the rest of the world. Wrestlers who innovate succeed. Despite complete overhaul of folkstyle techniques 3x over in the past 15 years, we are still really rudimentary in freestyle. Our par terre has gotten worse since the advent of the push out, and I think Dake and molinaro are the only wrestlers in 20 years who had a reliable chest wrap, head pinch or crotch lift. I generally root for NLWC guys, but they suuuck in par terre. They don’t even try. Cael wasn’t any good there, and his style flows down through the team. They are wizards on the feet, and liabilities to themselves when attempting any turns. I bag on the brands a lot for folkstyle stagnation, but Tom’s iconic olympics throw was off an opportunistic leg defense neutral exposure throw. They have the most complete freestyle knowhow, and are why our 57kg guys have the best par terre of the whole team year in and year out.

  39. Red Viking has one thing right. The deficit is still going to be there (even though he never complained under Biden) and that is not good. He wants to tax his way out of it while increasing spending. That doesn't work. What is the current spending level? $6.8 Trillion. What is proposed spending level? It should not be more than $6.8 Trillion. What is projected treasure receipts? This year $5.2 Trillion. That means they need to cut 30% of the proposed spending to make ends meet. Or they could cut 15% this year, and let income grow the next year. Then cut another 15% the next year and we are balanced. No auto increases in the budget. Hold to current levels and cut that to meet the projected amount of income. Then Moodys will be happy and we will be on the way to better fiscal discipline. mspart

  42. The United States is a Religious Freedom-focused country. Some choose to exercise that via christianity. But let’s not conflate a collection of individual choices with the structural intent of the country. I heard a story about this guy, he walked into a bagel shop, ordered an onion bagel with extra strawberry cream cheese. He sits down and starts yelling at all the customers who come in “This is an Onion Bagel and Strawberry Cream Cheese Shop!” while sitting in front of 30 racks of different bagels and 20 flavors of cream cheese. Some people really want to make it their business what sorts of bagels other people eat. But it never will be. Just let people eat their bagels in peace. Everyone is staring down a long work day and a crappy commute, the bagel just helps make it a bit better.

  45. WA high school wrestling has been pretty good for a while now. Not only do they not have a D1 team, they only have a couple JC wrestling programs and they are very underfunded and barely surviving. They have zero NAIA, D2 and D3 programs. With a large city like Seattle and many schools throughout the state, you would think it's a no brainer...unfortunately the colleges are not wrestling friendly. A lot of people have tried to change that, but it hasn't happened.
