After the Stanford dual, Ethan said that 149 was a 1 year deal. However, if you are offered a bag of money to stay at 149, you may make that sacrifice and stay down. The reason he went down was because we had two good 157 in CJ Hamblin and Stiles and we were struggling at 149 with injuries. Stiles was actually losing to Hamblin in the Orange/Black wrestle-off and had to come back and get the win in OT. So everyone decided with the team lineup and the landscape of 149, that Stiles should go down. 149 was very tough cut for him to make. His first time down he was up on Gabe Willochell by 6 or 7 points and gassed hard and lost. After that he seemed to manage it ok.4 points

He never has. But I think as some point you have to start the blue chipper, given as McCrone has done nothing with two NCAA trips.3 points

If Iowa lands the Raney brothers that will give them 2 top 5 wrestlers, 3 top 10 wrestlers, and 4 top 15. Each of these would be the most at Iowa under Brands. Iowa's previous best in a single season was 1 top 5 recruit, 2 top 10 recruits, and 3 top 15 recruits.2 points

A pretty reliable insider at Panthernation.com (hilariously bad site in terms of functionality) has stated that Keck to the Cowboy RTC is a done deal, basically. Roper was the reason Keck stayed at UNI the entire time2 points

He went to Nebraska out of HS. Was in the 40s on the Big Board. Willie had him as 165. He wrestled 157 his redshirt year but couldn't beat out Taylor or Lovett and then transferred to OSU and started the year at 157 before cutting down to 149 and becoming an AA. It didn't sound like he was a 149 long term but with Chittum, Cannon and now Stiles at 149-165, its not a bad problem to have. I forgot Chittum greyshirted at Iowa and could still take a redshirt2 points

Pretty sure rv lives in a 14 million CNY house in China hence the "red." He's just upset with Trump about how the 150% tariff is going to affect his dupe trinket business.2 points

For those in the back who are having difficulty with comprehension: - Tom was appointed HC at Iowa on April 5th, 2006. - Terry officially joined the Iowa Staff on October 1st, 2008 as an Assistant. Any recruit before October 1st, 2008 was not a TnT recruit. That is what Ionel is trying to say here (I think?).2 points

If it's "already priced in" then it didn't happen as this is nothing but a normal correction. It would have to tank at least 50% (think 08) to be a "rv the sky is falling" event.2 points

tangent - there's a pretty good book called Four Days to Glory that follows Borschel and Dan Leclere through their senior HS seasons. Think it gets into the recruitment class stuff at the end, but been a while since I picked it up.2 points

Maybe you were referring to other wrestlers (I think Bulgaria does have at least two or more caucasian wrestlers), but the other half of the famous duo, Novikov, is slavic not caucasian. He is a relatively rare ukranian transfer. Bulgaria probably has a stronger local wrestling culture (due to their past as the crown princes of greco and sold freestylers) that can throw its weight around and stick up for itself more than other transfer havens like Poland, Serbia, or Azerbaijan. So this might be a one off. But 75% of Euro freestyle gold and silver medalists being Russians in disguise, well that's not what wrestling's leadership wants.1 point

Brands 2005 class at VT was #2 Metcalf, #19 Borschel, #24 Slaton, and #40 LeClere. Total 6 AA finishes, 3 titles. Zalesky had a decent class at Iowa in 2005. #11 Morningstar, Keddy (NR), Erikson (NR), Dennis (NR). Total 9 AA finishes, 0 titles. Sanderson may have had the best class in 2005 too. #4 Sanderson, #5 Mueller, #10 Varner, #13 Gallick, Zabriskie (NR), Fanthorpe (NR). Total 12 AA finishes, 3 titles.1 point

At what point do yall realize that: 1) you’re not going to change each others minds, even if you go on wasting your time continuing this on to 24 or so pages 2) you don’t know not half, at best, about this case that you think or pretend you know 3) it’s time to move on to the next endless topic, where the only thing that matters is what ‘your guy’ says or thinks so that you can just follow right along.1 point

If we are being honest, it is most likely because viewers are hoping for at least a high-level breakdown of dominance stats + guys returning in the respective brackets rather than doing their own research. I may have statistically lived a few years over half my life but I was still wearing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tighty whiteys when this tourney was wrestled. ETA: That is absolutely not saying anyone should provide those stats. I am only pointing out a potential reason (busy and/or lazy).1 point

I didn’t indicate I was good or bad with his decision. I indicated what El Salvador does with him is El Salvador business. We didn’t put him in prison. We didn’t say put him in a hell hole. We just kicked him out. back to my emotion and riding any and every immigration issue the same way. Look at the rhetoric. The title of this thread = trumps concentration camp. This isn’t run by Trump. sample news article headline: Trump sends super nice undocumented father of 18 defo not gang member dad of the year to Hell hole prison. bla. bla. bla. rinse. repeat. should there be push outs in folkstyle. No. 100% no.1 point

So I'm confused, what in the heck are you even arguing about...you said the SCOTUS said we had to return him, which you then say it isn't what the SCOTUS said, they you said we should ask to have him returned, but we did provide a plane, and then you said we didn't ask. Then you said Bukele should send him back because the District Court said Trump should send him back, but then you said no Bukele doesn't have to send him back, but should send him back if Trump asks...again even though we sent a plane. Then you backtrack even more and say, "Well Bukele shouldn't have said to smuggle him into the US because it wouldn't be smuggling....so AGAIN, what is your stance....should we or shouldn't we get the gang member back? Or is it you just want to complain about every little thing Trump does no matter what??1 point

I'm not sure how hard it is to understand that while someone can most certainly go around saying they support terrorists (without materially providing support) as it is protected by the first amendment; however, you can't block access to people from going places, you can't vandalize property, you can't take over buildings, you can't set up encampments on campus, and you also are held to a certain behavioral expectation especially when on a private college campus. I bet if RV spewed his rhetoric at his job he would be fired on the spot. As for government support for colleges, I am fine with whatever the past/current/future President/Congress finds acceptable to give grants to as long as it is based on merit and the purpose is to better the students and the country...and am fine if they choose to no longer give grants. Just like elections have consequences, behavior has consequences, including college administrations behavior.1 point

The guy is the only one batting 100% this offseason thus far. If he has mentioned it, it has happened. Miller -> VTech more than a week before anyone else actually realized it was a thing. McNeil -> Michigan more than a week before anyone else actually realized it was a thing. Stewart -> NC State? Would make 3 for 3 when most of the wrestling world was like "This doesn't make much sense" or "This doesn't make as much sense as something else."1 point

None of these things are a violation of due process. You can whine and cry about them or disagree with them, but the people got hearings in front of judges and the judges made rulings, and then appeals happened, etc. etc. That is due process, which the immigrants in question were denied.1 point

Wrestling will always be a sport with more lightweights than heavyweights. If you weigh under 165 as an 18+ year old, wrestling is one of the only sports you can realistically compete in at a D1 level; anyone who weighs more than that has way more options and therefore is more likely to end up playing another sport. Also, people tend to be similar in size and stature to their parents, and lots of wrestling parents/former wrestlers are short, so their kids can only get so heavy based on frame restrictions.1 point

I didn't put words in your mouth, I just assumed you got confused, since I was talking about pardons, which is not at all relative to those convicted in the BLM riots. It's okay.1 point
-
I'm sorry if I caused confusion, there were no pardons for those rightfully convicted in the 2020 BLM riots. Again, sorry to cause confusion. The proper question to be asking is... is breaking the law on private property different than breaking the law on public property. But I realize that doesn't get us all tingly inside.1 point
-
Haven’t seen anything about it yet, but if I were to take a guess, they may have learned that even if they end up in jail they would be pardoned. Someone set a precedent…1 point
