  1. For me.....46th NCAA Championship dating back to 1972 (Maryland).....this will be 40 in a row, dating back to 1985 (Oklahoma City)....before I retired, it was a vacation, today.....it's still a vacation....lol. Some day I plan on being the last man standing....oh, and by the way, I can prove I've been to each of those NCAA's!!!

  2. There was already whisperings about Williams when DT arrived. The sad part about this is that despite his problems last year, having DT come in with strict policies, he chose to do this again. Hopefully he can get things straightened out and get to another school down the road. We have seen others succeed.

  4. I am a relatively new fan of wrestling. I don't find one any easier to explain to someone than the other. In folk you can watch two guys roll around for 40 seconds and there are no points scored because they are both holding on to a foot. Or as others have said here is a lace and the match is now over. Neither is made for the uninitiated. Just embrace that they are different and enjoy both (or all three).

  5. 1986 is when many people formed the opinion that Trump could do what the government could not. https://www.nytimes.com/1986/11/15/nyregion/about-new-york-pssst-here-s-a-secret-trump-rebuilds-ice-rink.html Donald J. Trump refurbished the Central Park -skating rink two and a half months ahead of his own speedy six-month schedule and $750,000 below his own projected $3 million budget, having taken over the project after the city spent six years and $12 million unsuccessfully trying to get the job done. ... ''He built the most fabulous rink I have ever seen,'' said Vera Banchet, watching her daughter skate. ''I saw Trump on TV again last night. If I may say so, he is not one to hide his light under a bushel.'' ... At the opening a few potential mayoral candidates showed up to wonder aloud why the city couldn't do the job. ... ''I don't really care about Trump's ego or the attention he's grabbing,'' said George Rinaldi, a skater at the rink, who echoed the sentiments of many others. ''It's a great rink and he is a great man. Anybody who can get anything done right and done on time in New York is a bona fide hero. He should get a ticker-tape parade.''

  6. Tax Cuts: Lowered taxes for businesses and individuals. Deregulation: Reduced regulations for businesses, which helped stimulate economic activity and job creation. USMCA: Updated NAFTA to benefit U.S. workers, especially in manufacturing and agriculture. Energy Independence: Expanded domestic oil and gas production, making the U.S. a net energy exporter. Opportunity Zones: Created tax incentives for investing in low-income areas. Trade Policies and Tariffs: Imposed tariffs to protect U.S. industries.

  9. If there are no skeletons in her closet that come out, or some unexpected event that will force her to have to be more forthcoming I think it will work. Perhaps a debate with Trump could be damaging if she really gaffes.

  10. for the kids who are pictured on the right hand side of this forum, who have just signed up to be miserable and malnourished for the next 4-5 years of their lives? I was young and dumb and thought I would win NCAAs and got smacked down by reality, just as most of these guys will. Poor guys. Don't tell em.

  13. I am confused...why are some of you complaining that Trump didn't execute on some of his campaign promises but also complained about what his campaign promises were??? Did you like them or not?? And as people mentioned...remove Trump from the equation...the way our government works is there are checks and balances so a President can't come in and unilateral make changes and policy. So all this dictator/tyrant/etc. talk no matter who is running is just silly.

  14. Checks and balances prevented Trump from getting the wall done.

  15. Energy affects every aspect of our economy. So being energy (gas ,oil, natural gas, solar and nuclear) independent is very beneficial for our economy. From the farm to the grocery store. From the forest to local lumber yard. From the manufacturer to the local store. It all requires lots of Energy. Plentiful low-cost fuel is essential to a thriving economy. Getting the border secure would help our economy in about 50 ways. Giving incentives to bring industry back to America would greatly help our economy. Getting rid of unnecessary, burdensome regulations on businesses would greatly help our economy. Trump understands that. Trump was doing all that during his 4 years.

  16. Nothing like broadcasting rare bad behavior from our wrestlers. It certainly promotes the brand and helps us grow, NOT. Meanwhile 99% of our wrestlers live right and do the right things. That’s what I want to hear more about. Do the right thing and delete the thread.

  19. Agree. Anyone who saw that match knows how bad that review was. As someone who watched the tournament from start to finish, I did not think there were many truly awful calls, but this one was the absolute worst. I assumed Zhamalov's challenge was pure desperation and he had no chance of winning it, given Valiev did not even back up on the final exchange, he merely circled to hold center while Zhamalov fired off a wild last attempt. Review officials gifted Zhamalov that win.

  25. I'd argue that the 2020 (aka 2021) men's freestyle Olympic team was our best in modern memory. Six weights, five medals: Gold (Taylor, Gable), Silver (Snyder), Bronze (Gilman, Dake). That's a medal in over 83% the weights, and that's with Russia completing (under the Olympic banner) along with all the former Soviet republics. That's a far higher percentage than the '72 team (83% vs 60%), and even a higher percentage of gold medals (33% vs 30%), and that's with only a single Soviet bloc competitor. The '92 team had the same percentages as the '72 team, so the same comments apply. And remember we didn't even qualify 65kg in '20, so of the actual competitors, we were 5-for-5 in medals.

  26. Definitely remembered the "72 Munich Olympics on ABC... I was totally blown away w/ the amount of US bouts they showed. Other than the USSR, the US FS team had a whale of a tournament!. Flo has archived a lot of those bouts that ABC broadcast back then. Also remembered the '92 Barcelona Olympics as well... watched on cable thru the Olympic Triplecast (Red/white/ blue channels... purchase was required, of course.) I was able to watch all of the GR as well as the FS... had them recorded on VHS. Alas, they're gone. Good memories! D3

  27. Kamala and Donald are not good people; they are politicians. John Kruk was no athlete, he was a ball player! But John could hit a baseball. The Donald can get things done. I'm voting FOR the Trump Republican Platform (link) Seal the border and stop the migrant invasion Carry out the largest deportation operation in American history End inflation, and make America affordable again Make America the dominant energy producer in the world, by far! STOP OUTSOURCING, AND TURN THE UNITED STATES INTO A MANUFACTURING SUPERPOWER Large tax cuts for workers, and no tax on tips! Defend our constitution, our bill of rights, and our fundamental freedoms, including freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the right to keep and bear arms Prevent world war three, restore peace in Europe and in the middle east, and build a great iron dome missile defense shield over our entire country -- all made in America End the weaponization of government against the American people Stop the migrant crime epidemic, demolish the foreign drug cartels, crush gang violence, and lock up violent offenders Rebuild our cities, including Washington DC, making them safe, clean, and beautiful again. Strengthen and modernize our military, making it, without question, the strongest and most powerful in the world Keep the U.S. dollar as the world's reserve currency Fight for and protect social security and medicare with no cuts, including no changes to the retirement age Cancel the electric vehicle mandate and cut costly and burdensome regulations Cut federal funding for any school pushing critical race theory, radical gender ideology, and other inappropriate racial, sexual, or political content on our children Keep men out of women's sports Deport pro-hamas radicals and make our college campuses safe and patriotic again Secure our elections, including same day voting, voter identification, paper ballots, and proof of citizenship Unite our country by bringing it to new and record levels of success There are potential Democrat platform items that may interest me... waiting for Kamala to provide policies. Stop interfering with other countries, stop spending money we don't have, prioritize helping needy US citizens before spending a dollar on non citizens, stop illegal immigration, increase legal immigration, defer state law on abortion, treat marijuana the same as alcohol with law consideration, ban congress from trading individual company stocks, make college education affordable, provide accountability behind benefits... RFK JRs has some good polices (link) but no chance to win. If Kamala came out with identical policies as Trump, I'd vote for the person that has a proven track record of getting things done and playing hardball in negotiations. That's Trump.

  30. I tend to agree with this take Rasta...when it was Biden and Trump and after Trump got shot I thought man this is over and Trump will run away with this. But when Biden stepped down and they threw Kamala out there I first thought it won't matter because I personally think she is not good...but after thinking about it and seeing the response...I thought those voting for Trump because of Biden's decline are going to switch back to Kamala, even if she isn't that good...she's neither Trump nor Biden. Going to be a close race and if Trump keeps attacking it may be his downfall.

  31. Honest question. If you know a particular person has evolved into almost everything he says is bullshit, why do you then believe him when he says "I'm going to do this" in regard to policy. If you know a person is completely full of shit, why does that not come into play when they are saying something to try to earn your vote. Especially if a person says he is going to do one thing to a very large group of middle class americans, but then says a completely different thing to smaller groups of a different finanical demographic. I guess my question is, how do you decipher that, he is definitely lying about these nine things.....but telling us the truth about that one thing?

  36. Sick Soviet team as well. Most decorated freestyle wrestler in history at +100 kg capping his career off with a 7 year undefeated streak. Absolute monster Ivan Yarygin who pinned everyone in his gold run that tournament . Levan was in the beginning of his 5 year unbeaten run. Big Dagestan contingent as well.

  37. Related question-would it be too late for the Republicans to now switch in Desantis or Haley in for Trump? I'm pretty sure they would win if they did this. Kind of like playing an Uno reverse card.

  38. Such people are not worthy of consideration BB. In all the lead up to where we are now, it started with someone doesn't feel safe or is uncomfortable because of something that was said. They need their own rooms to go to to unwind. They need to not have anyone contrary to their opinions on campus to share another opinion. Now we have TPT saying that that same logic should not, cannot, must not be used for those feeling uncomfortable or unsafe when using the wrong bathroom. Sorry TPT, you can't have it both ways. It is either right or wrong to make all people feel uncomfortable or not feel safe. Which is it? mspart

  44. Day 1 Amouzad (literally made Zain and musuakev look like they were nowhere near his level I dont think he can function on 2 day weigh ins at 65kg any longer he needs to go up) Zhamolov (the quarterfinal fiasco was terrible I sort of throw out the valiev match though just because they are both elite and have been wrestling each other often for a decade so that match was always going to be weird but he just absolutely dismantled Kadi and Takatani as well as beat salk rather comfortably a guy who had previously had his number) Mijan (no reason in my mind he could not win 6 people just cannot move him or handle his par tear) Azarpira (if he gets a gas tank I dont think anyone is beating him hes only 22) Kiyooka (best leg attacks to a lace out of anyone in the tournament regardless of weight) Ramazonov (not because I think he was even the best guy at his weight or even the second-best guy but this man really had no business medaling here his best result in a big tournament prior was silver at 79kg at the euros in 2020 and he did the damn thing regardless of yaz's health or brooks mental lapse he took advantage of the opportunity)

  45. I cannot give it to Zhamalov - I think he is an amazing wrestler and love watching his matches but he should not have even been in the finals. What they did to the Albanian/Russian in the QFs was a disgrace and I still can't believe they got away with that. Kyooke gets my vote for Mens FS although I could also see Tad as the OW

  46. X and other social media platforms spread way more false information than CNN and Fox combined. Add to that images are easily faked to dupe every Boomer out there that then shares the posts to everyone. Social media platforms are notorious for promoting posts that drive engagement, good and bad. It is well known that they push the controversial political stuff over your dog's birthday pics.

  47. To Never Trumpers. Why do people with questionable character argue that strong character is more important than the immediate benefits of sound policies? The rhetoric from some 'Never Trumpers' often reveals character flaws that are arguably worse than those of Trump.

  48. JB is great. And a a+ ambassador for the sport. Did anyone catch the comment about his dad giving him a gold necklace was like a wrestler bearing their flag ? I may have butchered it just walked in the room from doing some summer cleaning but I swear I heard him talking about gold necklaces.....and it may have been an apt comparison but it seemed rather strange.
