To be clear: Spencer Lee will also have to have had the best tournament of his life to win Gold. This is about medalling, not winning gold, and I think 25% is about spot on. It is convenient to forget that Spencer Lee had to come back to beat Wanhou Zou of China via 10-9 Decision. The same Zou that got destroyed by the other semi-final winner Aman of India via 10-0 Tech a few months ago at Zagrab. The same Zou that got destroyed at last years Worlds via 10-0 Tech to Arsen Hartyunyan of Armenia. Two times in the last six or so months that someone teched him without allowing him to score a point on him... yet Spencer had to come back to win 10-9. Chill out with the 'Guaranteed Gold' shit.3 points

-Snyder and Dake are near locks (2) - Zain is wrestling in the toughest or one of the toughest weight classes. Will depend on his draw, his weight management, etc (25%) - Brooks may be the best at his weight but being his first major Senior international tournament someone like Kurugliev can bounce him from the tournament (25%) -Spence like Brooks may be the best but like Zain he's in a loaded weight class (25%) -Parris for gold in Paris seems like destiny. (25%) O/U to medal at 6 weights 3.5 *** I believe this might be a team that might even be better than our 2020 Oly team and it's by no means crazy to think we medal at every weight and bring back a lot of Gold3 points

Can't overstate how impressive a performance this was from Zain. Brutal, especially when we know he's cutting a ton. Wow.3 points

We're starting back up, Zain going to be the 2nd match on mat B3 points

Some folks seem to be worried by Lee's match against Zou, but there are a lot of positives to take away from that and perhaps better for him than easily teching his way through the tournament. He was getting worked early and was able to adjust mid-match to take the lead. And despite obviously being gassed, he wrestled smart and held on through the final flurry. He also has the best transitions to turns we have seen from a US wrestler in a very long time. I'm so used to watching our guys not even make half assed attempts to turn, and Lee is locking up leg laces and trap arm guts before his opponents even hit the mat. His ability to end matches quickly is a huge asset. If he can continue to improve his cardio and not get injured during training, he is absolutely a gold medal threat.3 points

Zain delivered some pain in Turkey with his bow and arrow. I bet none of the international guys have seen or FELT Zain's bow and arrow. He's showing how folkstyle can influence freestyle.2 points

don't tell me you actually believe this. 1) they are terrorists 2) they are currently taking all the humantarian aid and giving the civilians little of it and/or selling it to them 3) did the Palestinian groups stop being terrorists in a) Syria b) Kuwait c) Lebanon 4) no other (Arab/Muslim) nation will take them in because they know they'll never stop 5) they are terrorists2 points

Agree on the last point. Keep in mind at WC’s last year, Stevan Micic went on an impressive run and won gold. If Micic can do it, Spencer Lee absolutely can too.2 points

Each one of our guys is a medal threat. Zain was a giant against most of the guys he faced and seems to have his weight under control. Its going to take a stud to beat him, if he doesn't make the final, I wouldn't be surprized if he wrestles for a medal. He has to be among the favorites. Muza has to be the favorite, depending on his tank, the tank doesn't seem to be a prob for Zain,, Nick Lee gave the Iranian a descent match, and Zain is more solid than Nick. I also think Zain matches up well with Dudaev. Top 3. Spencer had a close match with Zhou, and after the 4, Spencer beat him up until the last exchange and he wasn't close to getting turned, then destroyed the field he spent about 10 minutes on the mat and most of that was against Zhou. I think Spencer will beat him up if they wrestle again. Spencer top 3 Dake is on a mission, I don't see him losing until possibly the final where he could face Sidakov, their first match came down to the final exchange. I expect silver or gold. Brooks top 3 in my opinion. He underhooks like Yaz and may be just as strong and has a better tank. Brooks top 3 Snyder is never out of medal contention. Top 3 Parris has proven he can hang with the best and only seems to be improving. He is 1-0 againt Zare, it was 2019, but who knows if he can hang with him now, they haven't wrestled since to my knowledge. He lost to Geno multi WC 8-6 at worlds and beat everyone else. To say he doesn't have a chance to medal is disingenuous. top 3. The opinions expressed are my own, if you don't like it I don't care.2 points

I think all six MFS athletes are capable of medaling. A solid performance would be four medals.2 points

Can't we all just agree that if any of the rest of us had a 1.9 GPA we'd also struggle with math and putting facts together. C'mon let's give Joe a break. However, by Biden’s own admission, he did not last long on the team that year, quitting after the fall season to focus on his studies after earning a dismal 1.9 grade point average.2 points

I think Ochir may be Zains worst matchup aside from maybe dudaev I like his style against Amouzad and musakaev a lot.2 points

Will not work. This is isn't like the IRA. Iran isn't NORAID. Iran is a geopolitical foe to Israel that will continue to fill the pockets of Hamas leaders to do their bidding. And we haven't even scratched the surface on the Qatar issue2 points

I'm not betting on Micic to win ANY matches after making 57kg unless they move the weigh ins and 57 bracket to Serbia.2 points

I'm a PSU fan and I find Basch hard to take. His questions are more multi-paragraph dissertations than actual questions. And his constant name dropping is painful.2 points

You don't support hamas you just have the bizarre idea that we should leave then in power and give them things till they become nice. The IRA comparison doesn't hold water because the combatants in this conflict are openly genocidal according to you (one is according to me). And what was the ratio of combatant to civilian causalities in that conflict? Was the IRA using its own children as shields?2 points

Unfortunately, it would be inhumane and cost too much to make Greco wrestlers compete on a metallic spiked mat floating over a bottomless labyrinth2 points

I mean when someone starts tapdancing this hard or peculiarly about adhd meds, it is because the ice is thinner than anybody actually knew. Also, skeptical eye detective finds it odd that said tapdancing is also on the dude with the most built body at all of NCAA’s. Taylor made the same Calavita special bump(hence that killer two car garage hairline), hard to believe he’s the only one. Our primary flaw as american fans is our complete lack of relative perspective. Yes, those big bad eastern europeans and russians would gladly juice to the gills, but our homegrown farm boys get ‘em with patriotism and hard work. Was he actually a lifeguard on a beach? If so, saving 6 people does not seem outlandish. A friend of mine would lifeguard in the summers and said they had to go out and save people all the time.1 point

The whole Boise State situation never made much sense to me. I'm in the process of writing up a journal on the success the non-Power 5 schools have had at NCAAs since 2000. Boise was a staple in the top 25 really until the program got cut, with a few top 10 finishes. Not allowing the program to continue even with self-funding is asinine. Hopefully the program makes a comeback sooner than later.1 point

Wrestling is a net expense; former wrestlers do not appear to be as attractive to schools as former lacrosse players (a sport that is expanding); wrestling makes compliance with Title 9 more difficult; and nobody at ND seems to want a wrestling team. Those are big barriers!1 point

Boise State President and AD wanted baseball.... dropped wrestling, added baseball and never competed in even one season of baseball. The president retired, then very soon after became a board member and editorial staff at the local newspaper, which is owns a lot of papers in Idaho. Guess what you never saw in the news after that? WHen the program was dropped, they send an assistant to the wrestling room with recruits on campus to give the news to Mendoza that the program was cut. This was shortly after they brought in a new staff as well. The AD and president refused to have any meeting with the wrestling staff even after they proposed to self fund after two years.1 point

Marquette was privately funded as well. The ND situation had to do with NCAA violations that occurred with their wrestling program. The NCAA wanted to use this as an excuse to probe the whole athletic department, particularly one program, the school panicked and dropped wrestling to get the NCAA off their back. Some one closer to the situation might know better than I, but the story was the schools convinced the widow of the man who had endowed the program to sign the money over to the university to be used as the university saw fit. Pretty low down tactics. I was in college when this happened. ND was in the West Region at the time.1 point

No, the only question is whether AB had a TUE prior to the test. If not, then he would have had an AAF (Adverse Analytic Finding). All this is, of course, speculation. The actual second question is whether all testing and notification protocols along with appropriate sanctions were followed.1 point

I think this is about preference. I prefer folkstyle wrestling over freestyle and greco. Just like I prefer College Football over Pro football. I prefer a well marbled steak cooked on a grill over a hamburger at McDonalds. It doesn't matter to me what your preferences are. You are a grown man you will have different preferences.1 point
