  6. Suggesting DT and his team's "hearts are hardened" and he hopes they find Jesus is just disrespectful af. He thinks the fact that he had a difficult path and got on the team is proof that God exists? C'mon dude. And then the kicker (paraphrasing) "I hope he actually wants to take the job and isn't doing it just to get the news of him losing to me out of the media". Brooks seems like a good kid, but he's a moron.

  8. You are missing the obvious on purpose. Sinn Fein and it's military group used terror to get political change. Hamas uses terror tactics to destroy people who are Jewish. Sinn Fein's charter did not say eliminate Great Britain or all Protestants. Hamas' charter says they want to eliminate the Jewish state however that must be done. How can you have a political solution with an entity that wants you dead? Sinn Fein was not that way, Hamas is. You are arguing yourself into a very small and tight space that you cannot get out of. You can say all you want that Hamas did wrong on Oct 7 but the rest of what you say supports them. You cannot get out of that little box you have put yourself in. You can't have it both ways. You say Israel has a right to defend itself and Hamas did wrong on Oct 7. But then you say Hamas cannot and should not be eliminated and Israel can't fight a war not of their choosing but of necessity. You can't have it both ways. But yet you try. 2+2 does not equal 5 but you keep saying it does. Your arguments make no sense. They have no logic, but are illogical. mspart

  12. Nini did shore it up, for those who anticipate greatness out of him (keep in mind who you're questioning there... the BIGGEST Illini fan on these boards in @ILLINIWrestlingBlog). Kraisser shores it up a little better and allows further development to take place without the pressure of performance. Win - Win, really

  13. If you go back far enough there were three, and defeated finalists had to wrestle off after the finals against the guys who had lost to the champion. Some finalists wound up not placing, strange as that may seem these days. There were six placewinners through the 60s and most of the 70s; when they first went to six a wrestler had to lose to a finalist in order to wrestle back and there were usually fewer than 32 wrestlers in a bracket -- when Mike Caruso won his first title in 1965 there were just 20 entrants at 123 and the 6th place finisher ended up with a record of 1-3 in the tournament .... his greatest accomplishment may have been drawing Mike as his first opponent. By the late 1970s brackets were usually full and often had five or six pigtail draws (from which the top seeds were not exempt -- Mike Frick went 6-0 both times he won). Full wrestlebacks didn't come in until the 1990s and seeding was spotty -- many worthy wrestlers went 0-1 and barbecue (doesn't have the ring that 0-2 does). Awarding eight places (I'm not sure that the 7th and 8th placers received trophies in the early days; may have just been certificates) seemed more appropriate given the size of the tournament.

  14. I don't know why it repeatedly needs to be said, but the context there was that he turned down an offer (or three) that would have paid him handsomely to go elsewhere to stay home and still be the highest paid college wrestler next year. Both can be true.

  15. Honestly a lot of coaches in-match antics aren’t all that different from theirs, the Brands probably just get more flack because it’s Iowa and there are two of them. Manning, Schwab, Bono a few off the top of my head. Manning might be the worst complainer of them all.

  16. For me, it was being a ref and then a wrestling parent . I got to see what idiots coaches and parents could be, and realized I had been idiot #1 as a coach (but was a pretty calm and relaxed wrestling dad, thankfully). When I returned to coaching, I calmed down significantly.

  17. i'm in the camp of 'i'll believe it when i see it' when it comes to Mesenbrink at 157. it makes a lot of sense line up wise, though. i hope it happens, largely bc it does wonders for maximizing the other kids' opportunities on the roster.

  18. Yep. although there will be support staff (D Ops, perhaps Recruiting Director, perhaps someone to manage CWC) Eric Thompson is definitely going to be considered. (Also i don't think Gwiz is in play. i'm pretty sure he's done coaching.)

  19. and Delaware 1 - CA, DE, HI, IN, KY, NJ *(New England has a regional which is becoming very solid. If you think about it in terms of 1 state championship, it's pretty legit, imo) 2 - MD* NY, PA, TN, TX * (Maryland is a little misleading because they have so many schools that are national prep and the bulk of the better kids go to prep schools) The rest are 3+

  20. Kudos to you for taking on all posters. Here is the big piece of the puzzle you and this board are not addressing. This is a Chess match between the US/Israel vs Iran. Palestine is a pawn on the board. Despite some grandstanding you might see from these nations the truth is the Saudi's, Jordan, & Egypt are also siding with the US & Israel. Palestine's peace will only come with it's divorce from Iran. Look into Jordan and Egypt's refusal to take in any Palestinian refugees. There's a real fear militants would set up shop in their countries launching attacks on Israel from within their own countries causing more chaos. If Israel capitulates Iran will now know that it's blueprint to set up proxies and cause chaos is the recipe for success

  22. There are semantics that can be used for it... Manning whinges... it's like he pisses and moans just to piss and moan sometimes. Bono is a turdbiscuit meathead. Schwab is a champion for the people (and his athletes) - always. The Brands Bros get heated, pissed off, and breath fire. They often don't stop breathing fire until a day or two later. Different levels there. Those levels are also driven by their off-mat personas and antics because, and lets be honest, most people haven't actually watched Manning or Bono or Schwab in a dual setting. You are 100% spot on with a resounding reason being that it is because it's Iowa.

  25. He got the crowd excited in his matches. In his last match, he was down by criteria with :38 to go and gained a body lock that he quickly slipped up the body until it was almost a headlock throw for 4 points. Big match coming up. The four seed is very tough, but I've seen Kamal beat him.

  28. I read his comment. I think myself and Uncle B are pretty much on the same page on that issue. But Iran not being discussed in this conversation is a real failure in understanding the current situation. The latest figures reported (estimated) was $300 million from Iran to Hamas. The idea that peace would come if Israel just packed up and left is nonsensical. Iran is hellbent on creating as much chaos and conflict in the region. Currently the Ayatollah is the root of the problem

And again YOU WERE WRONG BY THE DICTIONARY DEFINITION. No one is gonna think is your getting dunked on if just admit you didn't have a tight grasp on the word.

  40. Yeah, the fact that the winner of Ochir/Zain will have only a little over an hour of rest and will have wrestled one other solid opponent prior to their matchup--while Kudiev wrestles opponents he can finish quickly--is worrisome. I posted estimated start times on another thread, and I will say that the amount of wait between the R32 and the Ochir match gives me some hope for a good, weight-recovered Zain performance in that match. He won't face Ochir until probably close to 8 hours after weigh in, 3 hours after his R32, and maybe 4.5 hours after the Coman R64 match.

  43. I believe he'd still train at the NLWC. You don't just lose those lifelong friendships and bonds because you decide to take one of the top 3, 4 jobs in the sport. If Cael and the kids/young men at the NLWC are who we think they are, they'd 100% be in DT's corner, they'd want him there and to be in his corner.
