Truax to Penn State. Will wrestle 184 while Brooks moves up to 197. Just like 95% of us predicted. Someone put out a watch on @BlacknGold. He might need some help...4 points

I'm really taken aback by how significant some of these changes are. I think they are almost all very good. But I am just surprised that so much progress is being attempted all at once. Not opposed to it - just didn't expect it.3 points

The 5 count for stalling starts when you touch the ankle, including when riding on top. Stalrocci defiantly going to retire fosho now.3 points

I'll offer a theory out of left field that they saw baseball, the National Pastime, realize it had to make fundamental changes, which are working, and took that as a message for a sport with similar problems in terms of an aging fan base.2 points

Interesting… we called it the Oklahoma. Apparently, it’s an equal opportunity ride2 points

As an aside, Spey is a dipshit and seems to be well out of touch. Perhaps BnG is Spey?2 points

Negative side of the Covid year imo. Guys like Bernie wouldn’t leave if they didn’t have the additional year after completing undergrad. Makes sense to move on for grad school, but it makes for bad optics for smaller programs.2 points

He’d never have been even looked at by PSU if he wasn’t coached up by Sioredas for 4 years. shrug. at this point I think most upper level coaches see the end result and just are trying to win as much as they can before it all comes crashing down2 points

I actually don’t hate most of the rules. Though I do think the 5 sec rule for ankle hooks is unnecessary if refs are calling stalling for not attempting turns2 points

Love almost all of this. The 3 point take down is long overdue. We'll no longer see tie matches where an escape and riding time equals a takedown, which often sent boring matches into OT. Wish they had kept the 4 point near fall. I think we all understand there is a big difference between two seconds of exposure and four seconds of exposure. If a change was going to be made, why not just three points for a two second exposure so that takedowns and near falls earned the same reward? The new riding time rule will be probably just turn some regular decisions into major decisions.2 points

It doesn't mean anything. Even that trial date is malleable, they get moved all the time. Now, for the record, I don't practice in Oklahoma, obviously, but for example here in Florida, trial dates move in cycles. We have Pre-Trial hearings that have an "assigned" Trial Term, so the court dockets show a case that is set for a April 19 pre-trial date and also set for trial on the next trial term in May. However, especially post-COVID shutdowns with a big backlog of cases, the odds of a case actually going to trial that quickly after the Pre-Trial date would be astronomically low UNLESS the Defendant insisted and demanded his right to a speedy trial. It's neutral, at least under Florida criminal practice. It's noteworthy, though, that the docket seems to show that the trial was set by the Ferrari's request, so it's possible he intends to fight this all the way out...or he could be playacting trying to get a good deal.2 points

There's always a segment of the wrestling community that says, "Well, wrestling isn't for wusses!" to justify stuff. Let me ask you guys a different question, "How many world team members use moves that way?" For example, Sarah Hildebrandt is the QUEEN of the front headlock. She scores from there quite reliably. She doesn't run that move for head to mat contact. In fact, I've never seen a match of hers that had anything remotely similar to Mortimer's match. Do we see a lot of 'hard crossfaces from left field' from Dake or Taylor of Burroughs? Does Lee or Suriano regularly choke out their opponents with hard guys yelling from the stands, "protect ur neck, yo!" at their opponents? . . . It seems like that in the long run, the further you get in this sport, the less you see of this stuff...because it isn't necessary and is likely counterproductive. It's rookie level shit.1 point

Not trying to rain on your parade here but seeing as Truax visited Penn State earlier this week it would seem more likely he's headed to PSU than ASU.1 point

I’m not saying what you say I’m saying. Here is what I’m saying … a move whose sole purpose is to threaten or cause injury so as to get a wrestler to release a grip is not ok. I’m being very specific. on top of that, let’s be more specific — a move whose sole purpose is to threaten or cause a head injury so as to get a wrestler to release a grip, is not ok. I don’t care if the potentially injured wrestler could figure out a way to defend. We are talking about intent and potential harm. This is not hard. And I don’t care if people were trained to do this. Head injuries are a big deal. The sport is doing more to prevent them. A move SPECIFICALLY designed to cause a head injury if the defending wrestler isn’t quick or wise enough to defend it —- is NOT ok. This is pretty simple.1 point

Are Garrison Dendy (149) and David Harper (197) a package deal? They both went to Baylor (TN) and we’re somewhat of high legal recruits. It seems Ike they both committed to Wyoming together and both are in the portal together. I’m curious to see where they may land1 point

I expect Facundo to hit his stride soon and just had some bad mojo at NCAA's this year. Every program will have some boneheaded fans who are overly critical of wrestling below seed and early expectations.1 point

John Wise played football Western Illinois, missed wrestling so became Illinois hwt and AA'd. I remember him saying after coming back to wrestling how much harder wrestling was than football. Believe he is to be inducted into Illinois Wrestling HOF on Sunday. https://www.patriots.com/news/returning-to-gridiron-wrestler-made-wise-decision-1457711 point
