  1. This was my first truck. 1994 Ford Bronco. Gramps sold it to me for $3000 after he had to stop driving, but he put ~40000 miles on it and it was his prized possession. He put the brush guard, some big ass tires(I don't think he had any lift kit on it, but he did drive it all around through the woods, so it had a winch). It was 10 years old by the time I got it, but it meant the world. Had to get out and manually put it into 4-wheel drive. Put over 200,000 Miles on it before she died on me...but she died JUST as I was pulling into work, so it was a good death! Gramps didn't have a lot of money, so that was a gift I really appreciated. But THIS...is my favorite vehicle to this day.

  2. Using the Oklahoma court records which show this: https://www.oscn.net/dockets/GetCaseInformation.aspx?db=payne&number=CM-2022-807&cmid=414806 It appears that he was not sentenced to 18 months of probation, but that was the maximum sentence he could have gotten. The judge deferred sentencing (which means it's hanging over Ferrari's head) for 1 year pending the completion of certain financial terms as well as an anger management course and a written apology to the victim. If the terms are completed, the judge would dismiss the time and the case would be over. So it shouldn't be a problem for him to go elsewhere. If he had gotten on probation, it would still be possible thru the interstate compact which allows for things like transfers of probation.

  4. https://deadspin.com/princeton-wrestling-chris-ayers-ncaa-champion-trenton-1850318558 Great article about a great guy and the amazing turnaround at Princeton …never realized he didn’t place in states in high school but won 120 matches and AAed at Lehigh

  5. A mindset that considers empathy and sensitivity, sure. I believe some black men from Detroit can be sensitive to black men from the deep south. I pointed that it sounded racist AF and stand by that. The fact that you doubled-down not reflecting on your poor word choice says enough.

  8. Probably because Princeton alums don't really consider Cornell an ivy league school?

  9. A ) You understand that you are merely showing your interpretation of a very toxic choice from your own mindset, correct? B ) I am a black man who grew up during the most violently racist time in Detroit's history - IN DETROIT. GTFOH

  10. Seriously bad choice of words. Sounds racist AF.

  11. gotta respect an article by a princeton alum about how shocking it is to have a good ivy league wrestling team that literally doesn't mention cornell once

  12. Ok...well, I just don't agree. 16 of Lee's 20 wins this year where TFs or Pins. He was the clear cut Hodge winner up until a historic, top 5 all time upset for Glory to win it(probably top 2-3). 165 was a loaded weight and you can list a bunch of guys at 149, the fact is, Kolodzik had beaten the best of that group numerous times. And if you think it's MORE likely that Glory wins 125 going INTO this years NCAA as it was that Kolodzik going into 2020 or 2021...well...I see it VERY differently.

  13. Anybody have insights into what happened here? Did WWE decide to focus on Logan Paul types instead? Obviously this is great news for the sport and team USA. As a fan, I'm very happy to see this.

  15. Eh, fair enough. I'm just saying they weren't all 1 point matches and I think there's a little revisionist history after just kinda getting by for his 4th vs Van Ness and Murin. He wasn't Spencer Lee, but...I mean, two guys beat the man. I don't know what Dake's look like, but I suspect his was someone similar.

  16. But Yianni's 50 pins need some context as well. In 10 CKLV and 36 combined EIWA and NCAA matches, a total of 46 matches, he has 1 pin over a guy ranked above 90 by wrestlestat. He did pin a whole lot of Ivy wrestlers though.

  22. I was surprised that his eligibility clock hadn't already run out. If Steveson's considering a college return because there's NIL money, he seems like the type that would want to get something that includes his teammates also. That would be a win.

  23. I actually assumed he was coming back to Wrestle in College next year as well...just because he's been talking about it or suggesting he may return, Eggum has said he hoped to have him back and now that he's going to get back to Wrestling...why not Wrestle the 20 matches in College next year, win another Natty and then onto the Olympics? He said he wants to perform in front of big crowds...you don't get bigger crowds in Wrestling than CHA, Bryce Jordan...and then the NCAAs. But, we'll see. I'd imagine he wasn't super focused on school at the end there as he was already making quite a bit of money. But it'd be fun to see!

  25. The gender gap was a pretty large part of the reason behind the changes; https://19thnews.org/2022/03/colleges-admissions-dropping-sat-exam-gender-gap/#:~:text=For SAT critics%2C test-optional,at a disadvantage for years. And if they REALLY gave a shit about equity, they wouldn't use legacy students as any measuring stick.

  26. That's not the reason. It's because rich kids do better than poor kids (across all IQ levels and levels of test prep).

  30. And THAT'S what really matters! In fairness, I doubt they had any clue he'd loss his chance to compete or that he'd be trading no NCAAs instead of 2 more NCAAs.

  35. So basically a tactical nuke then, yeah? Kid already looks like an absolute animal. If he fills out to 6'4/5" and keeps that speed he is going to be lethal at the International level.

  36. I don't know him or the family but for a few very brief interactions, but I have spoke to a close friend of the family with whom he works out with pretty regularly. I guess they're expecting him to be 6'4, maybe 6'5. The Dad is a big guy. I think he's about 6'2 right now. He also looks like he's long arms as well. I think he'll end up looking like a taller, longer Mason Parris, but I've got no clue. He just seems like a kid who's having fun, loves the sport and is an absolute hammer.

  37. Sounds like fake confidence. PSU fans act like there's no competition but they get on the internet and debate for every transfer tooth and nail. Something doesn't line up. Aren't you guys the michael jordans of developing talent? Looks more to me like PSU fans are getting uncomfortable on that mountain top. Heard AJ might be on the way to Iowa and everyone over in Pennsylvania started squirming. "Quick boys, take the forums before they get anyone else!"

  40. I think it was a good interview. Maybe even a really good interview. At the end of the day, as a fan of wrestling, we all have our subjective opinions of what makes for good wrestling and by extension good wrestlers. It is easy to look at records and titles and say who the good wrestlers are. But to me that is superficial. In my opinion, good wrestling is consistently working for pins and getting them. To me the real heart and soul of the sport is more on the mat than on the feet. Yes, neutral is a part of the sport, but I think it is a lesser part. You can totally win matches and titles in the sport with only takedowns and escapes (heck in freestyle you don't even need escapes), but to me you will always be lesser than those who put others on their back. So was there a double standard for asking if Spencer had a bad match that he only won 8-0, while Yianni eeks out 1 point wins all the time? Depends on your point of view. I have been watching college wrestling for the last 20 years (so I don't the 90s and earlier). To me, the top wrestlers are (in no particular order): Askren, Nickal, Ruth, Taylor, Metcalf, and Spencer with Nolf and Retherford right behind. Noticeably absent are the guys with the best record and most titles: Stieber, Yianni, and Dake. But such is the subjectivity of such lists. While Yianni is undoubtedly a very good wrestler, I am not particularly saddened to see him go. He was not, in that sense special. Spencer on the other hand was. I am saddened to see his collegiate career conclude, because he was one of the guys that you just watched with excitement because you knew he was probably going to turn a guy. He freaking took top in that match against Ramos AND turned him for 4 AND rode him out (who the heck does that?). That is the kind of threat the top tier guys have in my mind. And Spencer was elite in that way and Yianni was not. And everyone kind of knew that. That is why people did have different expectations between the two. Is it fair? Meh, who cares. It is an admiration and respect thing, more than a standards or expectation thing. Does that translate to real life pressure? Maybe it does. The fact that he is talking about it kind of shows that it did cross his mind. Good luck to his international career and personal life outside of wrestling. I will miss him at the college level.
