  2. It used to be(and still is) 330 wrestlers but before the recent formula based auto qualification process with 33 wrestlers per weight, some weights might have 35 others 29.

  6. First graph here shows national qualifiers by home state, grouped into three seeding groups. Blue is seeds 1-11. Red is seeds 12-22. Yellow is seeds 23-33. These are the top 18 states in terms of total qualifiers so that the image doesn't get shrunk down too small.

  10. 1933 had five pinfalls in eight weight classes. 1955 also had five pinfalls, but in ten weight classes. But bouts were longer then. For example, one of the 1933 pinfalls occurred at 12:12. In the 10 weight, 7 minute era (1982 to present) the most was two pinfalls in 1987 and again in 2011. The shortening of matches led to a big drop in finals pinfalls. It has been three tournaments without a pinfall in the finals. If there are none this year it will tie the longest streak of tournaments without a pinfall (1974-1977, 1994-1997, 2003-2006).

  12. Jimmy troll thread… He wasn’t beating RBY in 2021 or 2022. He probably never beats Fix either, and never beat Micic after beating him the first time while at Drexel. He wasn’t going to win as a true freshman. His best shot would’ve been this year at 141 if he had redshirted, but then Iowa probably doesn’t have Woods.

  15. Yeah, this is a BRUTAL way to go for any kid, especially a kid with a...legit chance to make a run and maybe get into the finals or semis(I don't remember the bracket off the top of my head...I think he was on Yianni's side as the #9 though). Anyway...yeah, I'd rather see a kid with one more chance. But, he's an All American.

  28. Awesome video! Posted a second time so we can try to improve our estimate of how stupid these people are. Imagine being so stupid you believe the self serving lies of Trump - no evidence required! Then double down on that and throw your life away for it. Anybody on this board still willing to say they believe his election lies? Would you throw your life away for it?

  29. Mark Schultz has a story about wrestling a bear that was chained up at some bar. I think the catch was you would only win if you could pin both of its wrists down at the same time, which is apparently impossible because of how they are built. He felt sad for the bear since he thought the owner abused it.

  30. So inexcusable that the Coalition of the Willing got away with it and kept their olympics medals while finding war across land masses and oceans. Was the rape of the Armenian female soldier excusable to you? Or just the right having the right friends makes wars just.
