  2. Nolf is the best in my opinion because not only was he a generational talent (4 finals, 3 titles) but he also dominated. It took another even greater year from fellow generational talent Bo Nickal for Nolf to not at least get the senior year bump after Zain wrecked the field the prior two years. Not saying they were not deserving winners, but Nolf will be nothing more than fodder in a decade and that's a damn shame because he was as innovative, daring, dominant, and exciting as it got.

  4. OK, let's get the boring team race stuff out of the way first. Though there is a little gift in there from Wrestlestat to @jajensen09. Christmas comes late to Lincoln. For our bonus content this week I thought we would look at the late season surprises. Who are the highest ranked wrestlers that were unranked in the pre-season (using Intermat)? Take a bow Owen Trephan. The NC State heavyweight will be looking to throw his weight around come tournament time. After going 44-17 across his three freshman years (three? ahh, remember Covid? Those were good times), he is 17-3 this season with a 6 match winning streak. But the Keith "He Cannot Be Killed With Conventional Weapons" Richards Award has to go to Illinois' Michael Carr. The seventh year senior has battled back from a number of injuries to return to wrestling (though at 3-0, I am not sure how full that return is yet). You will notice there are no freshman on the list. I filtered them out as they are typically not seeded in the pre-season. So for our double bonus section let's look at the freshmen that have made the biggest jump since early in the season. While Caleb Henson and Levi Haines have the highest current rank at #8, it is Lachlan McNeil who is the Movingest and Shakingest among Movers and Shakers. Entering the rankings at #26, the Tar Heel has jump 14 spots to #12. No news here as it has been well covered, but I had a number reactions to the fact that PSU has three freshman on this list: Wow, that is some strong recruiting. That is also some damn fine coaching. This does not portend well for wrestling fans suffering under the hegemony of Penn State. This may be a good test of the "PSU outperforms at the NCAA's" phenomena. With this many freshmen this highly ranked can they keep the outperformance in tact?

  5. At my last company we focused on sick prevention through incentives $1000 off insurance by testing / certifying as a non smoker ...BMI below obesity ...blood lab results ...daily exercise ...wellness visits ...flu shots, etc. ...taking health education classes provided by the company, including cooking and nutrition ...dentist twice a year, annual eye exam, health visits to screen from cancer, etc. to catch things early We were self-insured, had a free-to-employee primary physician clinic on site, free chiropractic clinic on-site, and a dirt cheap pharmacy on site. We copied many ideas from "The Innovator's Prescription: A Disruptive Solution for Health Care" written by Clayton Christensen with Jason Hwang and Jerome Grossman. I believe we had evidence that promoting health and wellness reduced the need for costly medical interventions and treatments, and lowered the overall burden of disease and illness.

  9. This is the problem with the entire thread. It’s a bunch of people who don’t know anything at all about EW, ELINT or COMINT, commenting about how we should be shooting something down instead of using it as an opportunity to learn more about communications architecture, TTPs, vulnerabilities and strengths. Luckily, people who actually do this stuff for a living are the ones providing advice, and not a wrestling board. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  23. The 3Rs would be a good start. Your science suggestion would also provide much needed logic and critical thinking skills. I know it sounds negative, but this would require a 179 degree turn for our current school administrations and curriculum. (Notice I am giving the some slight credit.)

  25. From the earlier article "At first glance, the social media posts certainly appear to be cocky and extreme, which they probably are. But that’s Starocci’s brand." Probably? Does it being his "brand" make it better? Not specific to CS but being an amazing NCAA wrestler is great. Doing it without being an a**hole as a person is better. That said, I'm so glad that I wasn't given the opportunity to immortalize all of the stupid things I thought were cool when I was young.

  27. If Sasso were to have spent this last offseason making the appropriate adjustments to go 157 instead of 149 then yes. He would be one if the favorites. If he were to go up now, he would get out-horsed by Robb, O'Conner, and Franek. I hope he goes up next season.

  33. Yes but wish it were 32 and not 33 and I'd be fine with going back to seed 16 drawn the others in at random if it would simplify RPI and decrease the duck incentive.

  35. Yes. I would reward the conference champs of every conference. Because there are 7 conferences. Hypothetically in your scenario for this year you could have a (8)Kerk vs (9)Cassioppi wrestle in the round of 16 followed by the winner taking on (1) Parris in the Quarters. This would make a mockery of the NCAA tournament.

  38. What about the academic students? Shouldn't students at a Harvard or Stanford get NIL deal for helping make those top universities? What about the students in say the top Civil Engineering or Computer Science program, should they get NIL, maybe free food? Most of the commercials they show during a football, basketball etc contest featuring the university are showing academic programs and students. Where do these students featured in such go to collect their coin?

  39. As far as duals go, when it comes to conferences you seed the weight. Only use results from the in-conference duals. Establish some sort of criteria if dual record is tied such as: - H2H of wrestlers entered (current season only) - Overall Winning Percentage (current season only - D1 and same weight) - Coaches Rank

  42. It might increase the MFFs. If you have a binary outcome (top 2 are seeded, the rest are not) then none of the consolation matches matter for seeding purposes and should all be skipped, not just the placement matches. The only wrestlers who will want to wrestle a consolation match are those who think they may be on the bubble. You would also see a lot of conference championship matches forfeited because the initial goal of gaining a seed has been achieved. Of course, most of the first place matches will still be wrestled to improve their seed.

  47. I will go with: Spencer Lee Diakomihalis Brooks RBY Starocci O'Toole Dean I refuse to live in a world where three timers are not most likely to repeat. They will both repeat. And I hope it happens by Lee pinning the field while Diakomihalis takes five 1 point victories. I have the two timers next. For me Brooks is the clear number 3 and I have a hard time separating RBY and Starocci. But Lewis has a title and Fix does not, so there you go. Next come the one timers. O'Toole looks great, but so did David Carr after his first title. Dean's weight has the least separation among the top 8 or so, in my opinion, making it the toughest to show clear separation from the field.
