Ah yes, Pat, it's the girlfriend of a THWC member, who happens to vote for one political party, that is the problem here. It's definitely not the fault of the person who was attempting to wrestle for (counts on fingers) his fourth different school. Truth be told, I'm amazed that that woman had the stones to put that out there. Good on her.5 points

Not an AJ fan in the slightest. In fact, the opposite. I think he deserves every bit of bad karma he gets. That being said, UNC just had a basketball player arrested for sexual misconduct a month ago, they have a 70+ y/o Bill Belichick running the FB program while dating a 24ish year old, and who knows how many FB players have had legal issues. So to say AJ bring "too much baggage" seems hypocritical.5 points

It is being reported that Admin doesn't want someone with his baggage on campus, representing their school. If true, I don't think this article helped his standing at UNC. https://www.dailytarheel.com/article/2025/04/sp-sports-aj-ferrari3 points

I am going to go out on a limb and say that one person did not cause this entire sequence of events. The person quoted may be the face of the anti-Focus movement on campus, but no way is she the only reason. Use your noggins folks, don't go down the Minnow rabbit hole. Actually, let me correct myself. One person did cause this entire sequence of events: AJ Ferrari. Actions have consequences and they can last a very, very long time both positive and negative.3 points

It was insanely funny. But... "I was high on the Raneys until they didn't pick Iowa" is an insanely stupid take.2 points

https://jonathanturley.org/2025/05/29/liberation-day-meets-deliberation-day-court-strikes-down-trump-tariffs-in-the-midst-of-trade-negotiations/ On Wednesday, President Donald Trump’s “Liberation Day” collided with deliberation day in the courts, and it did not go well. The Court of International Trade ruled that the President lacks the authority to impose his massive tariffs worldwide. But all is not lost for Trump’s tariffs. The three-judge panel held that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977 (IEEPA) does not give the president “such unbounded authority.” While some have criticized the court as a “judicial coup,” it is a well-reasoned and good-faith decision from judges appointed by Presidents Ronald Reagan, Barack Obama, and Trump. While the court, in my view, should have issued a stay pending appeal, a wide array of experts have questioned the authority under the IEEPA, which is designed to address a national emergency. The authority does not mention tariffs and has never been used for tariffs. There’s a good chance the Supreme Court upholds the ruling. The Trump administration is now appealing and pushing for a stay to prevent this ruling from having a disruptive impact on the nearly completed array of trade deals. Rejecting Trump’s authority under IEEPA does not mean he lacks all authority for tariffs. The administration is correct in arguing that Congress has repeatedly deferred to presidents on tariffs, granting them sweeping authority. For example, the ruling does not affect Trump’s “sector tariffs” under the Trade Expansion Act, which impose 25% levies on steel, aluminum, and auto imports. Likewise, the court acknowledged that Trump has the authority under Section 122 of the Trade Act to impose tariffs of up to 15% for 150 days to address “fundamental international payment problems,” including trade deficits. After conducting further investigation into these problems, he can then impose long-term tariffs under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962. Interestingly, Turley is not the Trump apologist some of you on here think. He writes based on facts on data available. He says the court's decision is well reasoned and in good faith. The court did not say Trump can't levy tariffs as he writes. As noted, they said he could. Just not in the way he did most of them. See bolded and underlined section. mspart2 points

Maybe some adults are going to show up and balance a budget. The House punted. Trump is not leading on this. Raising the debt ceiling only gives the politicians a new short term target of over spending to hit. Let's hope some senators can actually be big boys and girls and make the decisions necessary to stop stealing from our grandchildren. Can't those kids (born and unborn) get a federal judge somewhere to put out a cease and desist deficit spending injunction on the grounds of Taxation without Representation since those kids can't vote?2 points

They have some wrestling alums with very deep pockets. The Milwaukee Tools guy for instance, and that guy likes to give to wrestling. Lots of former wrestlers work for them. (And check out Dake's truck at some point) Didn't he take the ACTs about 5 years ago? Who cares at this point.2 points

No clue if these “reports” are true, but the difference between AJ is that any revenue he brings in would be a blip compared to a basketball player. And I’m not really a Belichick fan but I don’t think it’s fair to lump him in with sexual misconduct. If anyone is being taken advantage of in that relationship it’s him.2 points

Two years younger than "freshman phenom" Josh Barr!! Freshman Barr is actually older than his junior teammate Levi Haines. Barr certainly earned his last name because he is old enough to legally enter a bar as a freshman. He is a very religious young man, so doubtful he partakes in the same libations as fellow Michagander Braeden Davis.2 points

How many has VTech lost this year? As an NC State guy, I should be a little happy... but I like to keep the ACC strong and my wife is a former Hokie. (Not to mention Tony Robie's recent selfless act)2 points

Yes, Hassan Yazdani is technically correct. Cherat is a place in Mazandaran that I believe his parents or grandparents are from and it would not really be used when referring to him in Iran. But I do think it's cool that @Husker_Du calls him Cherati, lol.2 points

I literally can't read any of it but I'm sure it's cherry picked. You could add the Sinai Peninsula but that would show the land they up for peace, just like Gaza and the West Bank. You leftists amuse me with your blinders. When you attack someone with the intention of taking their land you don't get to cry foul when they take yours as a buffer.1 point

Biden didn't put anybody on any terror watch lists. That said, if the dept. of Homeland Security did put anyone on such a list SOLELY for nonviolent, anti-COVID mandate advocacy during the Biden administration, then yes, that's absolutely alarming, and fascist. Given Fox News' credibility, however, I suspect those supposedly added to watch lists for their beliefs alone, were actually added for other, specific links to domestic terrorism. Not that past Democratic administrations have been always bastions of anti-fascism, of course, but the current administration's open embrace of fascism is existentially terrifying.1 point
