Maybe you can read the arresting officer Capt. Jamie Keever press release. Then you read should Jacob Parsons press release. Don't take my word for it. There is a lot of false information out there as I stated in my earlier in my post. It was a misdemeanor, and he was let go on bond.3 points

Yep... I have a hard time believing he can make that weight, let alone make it and perform at a high level. If he was able to safely do it and maintain an average gas tank, I agree, he could be a problem for people. His double jumped levels last year. He was a two round wrestler as it was. He didn't horribly tank matches by disintegrating in the 3rd, but you could definitely see the drop off. I hope he does well and gets on the podium. Good kid with a little funk and can be chippy. Looking forward to seeing this.3 points

Our country is called the United States for a reason. Not the United Individuals. Without the Constitution, the Senate, and the Electoral college many states would not have joined the Union. The only protection the less populated states have at all against mob tyranny is the Constitution, the Electoral College, and the Senate. Any move to modify any of those items should also come with a commensurate ability to leave the union without sanction due to a change of the terms of the contract upon which those states joined the union. If we are going to make a modification how about 1 state, 1 vote. It seems to work for the United Nations. Or, we can do the European Union Style - 55% of the countries or 65% of the population to pass something. So 28 states can carry any legislation and, presumably, the presidency.3 points

Greetings All, Meandering about and trying to figure out how and what and where and it got me thinking... both Oklahoma and Illinois could be sneaky good this year. Providing the coaching staffs do what is needed to help everyone make that next step (or more) and stay healthy - they both have the potential to have ten national qualifiers (each). How would this dual shake out? How do some of the guys who are changing weights perform? Wrestlestat has it as Illinois 19 - Oklahoma 12 however, at first appearance it appears every match could be a toss-up. https://www.wrestlestat.com/compare/perma/754/oklahoma-vs-illinois 125 - Lorenzo, OU VS Attasauov, ILL 133 - Belton, OU VS Byrd, ILL 141 - Schwartz, OU VS Pucino, ILL 149 - McDougald, OU VS Webster, ILL 157 - Wiley, OU VS Kraisser, ILL 165 - Picklo, OU VS Scoles, ILL 174 - Sax, OU VS Brawnagel, ILL 184 - Parker, OU VS Ruth, ILL 197 - Bradley, OU VS Brawnagel, ILL 285 - Mora, OU VS Luffman, ILL If this match were to go 30-0 either way, the result would surprise me, yes however, I could see any one of these twenty guys defeating their counterpart in a tightly pitched match. "Oh, no. Webster is a class above McDougald" Yes. I agree. McDougald beat Watters (WVU) last year convincingly. Ergo, this could be a match. "Schwartz is way better than Pucino." I also agree. The results given show that they are comparable against comparable opponents. Ergo, a match between them could be tightly pitched, were they to rematch. What are everyone else's thoughts on this dual? Every match would be a grind and I am for that. Especially since I don't see any 1-1 OT type matches here.2 points

It isn't hard. DOJ survey says crime is up., FBI says crime is down with major crime centers not reporting. Apparently it takes a rocket scientist to figure out the crime is up. mspart2 points

You cannot play the moral high ground on this when you are a PSU fan. Their hands are as dirty as anyone in the country. Who do you think Rob Koll's comment in the OP was directed towards? Some random folks from Happy Valley?2 points

The scholarship athletes not being allowed to compete cannot be accurate. That is an absolute legal shit storm brewing if true.2 points

Funny I have the same opinion on these two specific teams going into this season. I think both teams have a lot of potential but also a lot of question marks. Both teams have guys that didn't compete last year, moved up/down in weight, and/or it's their first year with the team. I'm excited to see Byrd back, I think he is a top 3 caliber wrestler. Also excited for Attasauov and Webster to take the mat. Additionally, I think the Braunagel brothers should definitely be in the All-American discussion for this year. As for this dual, I would think that Illinois would be the safer bet considering all the question marks OU has right now. Can Belton, Picklo, and Hill be healthy moving down a weight? Is Mosha fully healthy? Can Wiley and McDougald breakthrough and be consistent? Both of them have impressive wins with head-scratching losses. We also don't know what kind of shape/level Lorenzo and Parker are at since we didn't see them wrestle at all last year. Either way, I'm excited to see these teams in action this year!2 points

Facts say otherwise on attendance. Based on your post history, you don’t seem to like wrestling very much. I hope you find joy in another sport.2 points

"I do not have "special knowledge" but if the scholly guys return and keep the money without being on the team it is no longer an athletic scholarship" They offer this as cover, IMO. I cannot speak from authority. Speculation only. What a sh1tty position to put these guys in. Make them choose between having their education paid for or being able to wrestle.1 point

https://thehill.com/homenews/media/4931278-trump-claims-venezuelan-gangs-aurora/ Republican vice presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance (Ohio) and ABC News’s Martha Raddatz argued Sunday over former President Trump’s claims of Venezuelan gangs in a Colorado city. Raddatz asked Vance when he joined “This Week” if he supports Trump’s remarks about the gangs’ presence in Aurora, even after the Republican mayor said they were “grossly exaggerated” claims that have hurt the city. “Well, Martha, you just said the mayor said they were exaggerated. That means there’s gotta be some element of truth here,” Vance said. “What we’re hearing, of course, Martha, is that people are terrified by what has happened with some of these Venezuelan gangs,” Vance said Sunday. Raddatz interrupted Vance. “I’m going to stop you,” she repeated. “The incidents were limited to a handful of apartment complexes, and the mayor said our dedicated police officers have acted on those concerns. A handful of problems.” “Martha, do you hear yourself?” Vance questioned. “Only a handful of apartment complexes in America were taken over by Venezuelan gangs and Donald Trump is the problem? And not Kamala Harris’s open border?” Vance continued, noting that Americans are “so fed up with what’s going on, and they have every right to be.” So Raddatz is saying that if only a handful of apartment complexes are taken over by illegal immigrant gangs, that this is not a problem. Let's see what she says when armed gangs of illegal aliens takes over her domicile. She probably won't be quite so understanding. Vance hit the nail on the head with this one. He eviscerated both Raddatz and Harris in one blow. One other observation, why is it that media folks think they have to argue with candidates. They are there to ask questions their readers or listeners want to hear answers to. But they have taken on the mantle of arguing with these guys. There is something wrong with that. mspart1 point

I think the hoax part was that an armed militia threatened FEMA (which was the headline for several major news outlets), which obviously didn't happen. Just a stupid idiot acting on his own but quickly realized he was the one being an a-hole and not FEMA.1 point

Pfizer's vaccine received final approval in 2021 and Moderna in 2022. Neither are being used under an emergency authorization. All vaccine makers have immunity from lawsuits even after approval because we do not want them to pull vaccines from the market. It looks like the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program pays out the most per million doses to people with injuries that may have been caused by the Tetanus vaccine.1 point

People support Trump typically because they think he is an outsider and going to shake up the establishment in Washington. That's what demagogues do. Obama was more mainstream, unless you think he's an outside because of his skin color. I suppose plenty of racists think that.1 point

Certainly wouldn't have been outside on a kayak in 100mph. For where I'm at most of the high water came after the heaviest of the winds. That would be for a situation where....you hear about people busting through their attic and sitting on their roofs....well that's where I'll be floating.1 point

Yianni is from a different era. Kids get paid nowadays, this is change your life money for many of these kids, and will completely overhaul the old narrative for what it meant to be a college athlete (broken and retired coaching at a high school because your dreams didn't pan out.) Now it can be independent small landlord and entrepreneur...that's an amazing shift. Go pursue the kids coaches, do your thing!1 point

I talked to Alex Tirapelle about the Stanford situation just a short time ago. He is still emotional about what happened. I would suggest that Campbell coaches and the person leading the alumni charge against this disaster contact him where he is coaching now: American University. Not only is he whip smart, but he's also been through this particular situation. Yes, I know that the endowments are different and there is likely no Shane Griffith at Campbell right now, but there was more to that in saving Cardinal wrestling.1 point

I don't know about their other social media accounts, but I saw so many ******* hilarious tweets from their Twitter account, that I up and followed them. Best in the country on Twitter. This is awful, and I hope the athletes sue. I can't imagine scholarship athletes told that they can't wrestle for their team. It sounds impossible.1 point

I don't understand how they can justify this part. Obviously we disagree with all of it. But the cutting from 9 to 3 scholarships, the admin can "justify" by saying they need to save money for other sports etc. But the other part. How can that be justified to anyone with a brain?1 point

I know it sucks to see, but the numbers don't really lie. They are a large program (~50 kids), right? Since they opted in, they will be forced to reduce down to 30 as a cap. They would still be bringing in less to the school even if they had zero scholarships for wrestling. I fear this is not the last of this.1 point
-
I am fairly close to the program. I am just an alumni, fan, and live close by the school. Buies Creek is a VERY small town. Take away the students and professors and it is at best a 1000 or so population. A couple of small businesses. All that being said, it takes a lot of hustle to make it. From what I am hearing the revenue sharing is all consuming. Football and mbball is sucking all of the air out of the room. The school has not done a good job of budgeting and are "belt tightening." They are fighting for any money they can to maintain the glamor sports. Wrestling doesn't draw well, has a large roster, and had 9 schollys. (Had already given back .5 schollys) So wrestling has to shrink. Shrink roster and shrink scholarships. I do not understand the math and it has not be explained fully to me. 45 on the roster minus 9 scholarships = 36 paying students. If the roster is cut to 25-30 with 3 schollys you have 22-27 paying, meaning a net loss of income.(???) But I feel (IMO) it is revenue sharing and balancing men and women's scholarships, and the number of participants. All while trying to increase scholarships for football and men's bball. It is a sorry state of affairs in The Creek. A big knot in my stomach. I feel helpless. I have no idea what the answer is. Local fundraising is tough. There are not any Ashton Kutcher's around to save the day. I am grateful the program was not cut completely, but I do not feel much better. CU has (had) a very solid program. Then the rug pull. Sickening. I am telling you, you do not want this feeling. Go watch your favorite team, donate, and be an active supporter, but even that may not be enough.1 point

So I did some figuring. Campbell cost $56,151.00 to go there (With everything). They have 45 kids on their roster. If they give every wrestler 20% (which is what it would be if they handed out all the scholarship money). The University brings in roughly 2 million with the wrestling teams numbers alone after scholarships. With a school budget that is at 278 million and endownment of a little over 200 million. Their Football team has had four winning seasons since 2008 (which I think is when they started the football program) and they play NCAA I-AA which is a money drainer. They played North Carolina last year. So they probably got paid 500 K to get their ass kicked. Their Basketball team made the NCAA tournament in 1992. None since as a matter of fact since joining the NCAA DI in 1978 550-757. But sure, cut scholarships from the program that has won you 6 of the last 9 conference championships. That has produced All-Americans. Now, if you are a kid that goes there to wrestle and they are cutting scholarships and the cost is that much. Plus their graduation rate is 56% at Campbell are you staying after this?1 point
