  5. He doesn’t look like an easily scouted, one trick pony sort of guy. As long as he can get out from bottom, his neutral offense will take him pretty far. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. Definitely non-Olympic ONLY this year in October. Four weights for all three styles. And this definitely only happened once before--in 2016. In 2020 there was obviously nothing--neither Olympics nor Worlds--so in 2021 they did both the Olympics plus a 10-weight Worlds to make up for it. Before 2016, there were always 7+ weights in freestyle and Greco at the Olympics, so nothing like this was deemed necessary.

  10. Another one that I haven't noticed mentioned and is similar in breadth of sports skills is Jim Brown. Was arguable the best football player (runner at least) and was considered even better at Lacrosse. I believe some rules changes came about because of him. The Premiere Lacrosse League has an award in his name. At Syracuse he also played Basketball (9th round draft pick) and ran track. At 230+ he ran a sub 4.5 40.

  11. Funny how the article didn't mention how his grades were. Forgot, that doesn't matter. Honestly, why do we even bother to pretend that these are student-athletes?

  17. Yep... 24/7 open portal....NIL guaranteed.... No eligibility requirements for "student" athletes.... As I have said, they will wrestle two periods for one team, transfer to the opposing school between the 2nd and 3rd, and then defeat themselves in overtime.

  21. There should be no connection in a blind justice system on who appointed the judge and their ability to follow the law. We are certainly getting the idea of biased judges only in the last few years. Ds make a big deal out of more R appointed judges on the SCOTUS than D appointed. But the SCOTUS has not always decided in a conservative leaning way. In some cases, the count is unanimous. The judge in the classified documents case does not want to have any issue with Trump's current proceedings, and necessarily needs to have clarified a host of items as noted in the article I posted. To me that is a judge not jumping to conclusions but deliberating on the efficacy of the evidence as now there have been stories of fabrication that were withheld in the briefs concerning the case as just one of the concerning areas of inquiry in the pretrial motions. Should we rush to convict or should we get the underlying story correct first? If you read the article I posted, you would see that the DOJ has done a shoddy job on this and the judge is calling them out on that. mspart

  23. If the prosecution has failed to prove the allegation, then the judge has that prerogative. It is called a directed verdict. The judge can declare that the prosecution has not come close to prove the case. All of the prosecution witnesses say Trump didn't do what the prosecution say he did. Cohen is a pathological liar and admitted larcenist and perjurer. How has the prosecution proved their case? They haven't is the answer. The judge could say he is making a directed verdict for such a farce of a trial or he can let it go to the jury. In this case, the judge has repeatedly ruled for the prosecution and against the defense so he will let it go to the jury I believe. The closing arguments will be very interesting to hear if indeed it does get that far. mspart

  24. TJ Hepburn could’ve been a D1 AA ,maybe a finalist , he was 3rd in sr nationals only losing to Jamal Parks who then put it on Molinaro in the finals ,he was always talented enough to wrestle D1 but didn’t have the grades and went Juco for a year where he took 2nd then went 3rd, 2nd ,1st at D2 nationals . His senior year he made the midlands finals and lost to then 2x ncaa champ Kyle Dake 4-0 , he won the Wyoming open multiple times and beat a lot of D1 guys over the years. Whatever level he wrestled at he was going to rise to the top .

  25. Yeah, I was under the impression that Amos was moving to HWT to go the Kyle Snyder route. Wrestle folk at 230 and cut down to 213 for Greco/FS.

  26. To an extent. A few years ago he had teched Nick Lee in FS. Fast forward to now, Nick Lee just beat him at OTT. So has he progressed, yes of course. But maybe not at the same rate as someone in an elite training room.

  27. Isn't that a possibility at every school, regardless of if they get a new coach or not? Unless you win the national title, there's always a chance your coaching staff will recruit over you (whether that means stud high school kids or transfer portal). It's part of the game. It's the coaches job to win, literally. If you don't do that, they'll find someone who will.

  30. Yep...... window closed. That's why I hate this timeline .... lots of guys get put in bad positions. I am not sure when the portal opens again but it will be Fall/Winter. If I understand the new rules correctly, he could transfer anyway, enroll, then hit the portal when it opens to be immediately eligible to actually compete attached. NIL deal should be in place no matter what since it's not the school handing it out. He could also go in the portal Fall/Winter then officially transfer at the semester. He may have to compete unattached at opens in the beginning.

  32. I am a big fan of Joey Davis - always was and always will be. That said, his senior year - in which he won at 184lbs, he scraped by in a 4-2 Decision victory over a ~0.500 wrestler from Penn who was also coming up fro 174lbs. Add in that despite him having a good size advantage on Alex Dieringer at the ASC, Dieringer dominated - dare I say destroyed - him. His Junior year he did beat Ottinger (CMU starter, multiple time NQ, Mark Martin (OSU starter, multiple time NQ) and Wilps (Pittsburgh starter who placed 7th that year) at 174lbs, so maybe 184 wasn't the optimal weight for him. So if he isn't going to be a good example of those who could succeed from D2 to D1 then I don't know who would be. There are many examples to pool from. Unfortunately there are going to be more D2/D3 guys who don't find the same success than do, and there are going to be many more guys who don't find success at the D1 level that do at the D2/D3 level. There is a reason D1 is considered the highest level. Edit: Isaiah White is a good example, but I think he is an exception. Particularly because he was supposed to go the D1 route and couldn't academically make it, so his 'pit stop' was to fix those issues.

  36. The obvious, and unquestioned, greatest athlete is Zambian, Nanu. After being seen outrunning a cheetah in his home country, he came to the United States and singlehandedly won the NCAA track and Field Tournament in 1973. Though it was touch and go due to his rough start (he fell/slid backward on his first long jump attempt and his first javelin attempt went backward), following a key coaching adjustment he won the 440, high jump, javelin, shot put, pole vault, discuss, long jump, and another track event in just 2 minutes and 9 seconds.

  37. I didn't call the Heritage Foundationa liberal rag. I know they a conservative think tank, who reported on cases of conservative fraud (very few I may add in comparison.) . I said "Imagine a liberal rag reporting on liberal voter fraud." It just doesn't happen, it is white washed like Hillary's emails. The rest you can figure out for yourself.

  41. Here's the list. PA has had 90 wrestlers win 125 individual NCAA Division I titles. Within the list of 90 PA NCAA titlists, 33 guys compiled 40 NCAA Division I titles - but never won a PIAA HS championship. Some on the list were National Prep champs. The National Prep list includes Prep titles by Ed Ruth (who transferred to Blair Academy for his SR year), but it does not include Pat Santoro (who won a National Prep title during a post-grad year at Blair prior to enrolling at Pitt).

  42. The greatest example is Bruce Baumgartner - never won the state title in NJ but won NCAAs (3X finalist) and became one of the greatest heavyweights ever in FS. Also I believe both Keith Gavin and Pat Santoro would qualify.
