If you go to the school board meeting and read from one of these good books and are told to stop because of the explicit sexual nature of what you are reading, that is a sign it should not be in the school. If it is not appropriate to read out loud in a public meeting it is not age appropriate for minors. mspart3 points

This was an insider comment and nod to a member. Wrestleknownothing posts analytics about who is going to be an all american and who will win. He seems like a good guy other than that love for swimming. The point is that most everything discussed on the wrestling side relates to winning. Who won the starting spot. Who is the goat. Who will be an all american. Who will pin the most people. Who sucks at coaching winners. Who recruits the best winners. What mindset does the winningess coach teach. How much money will winners be paid to transfer schools to help that school win more. The spladle sure was an embarrasing way to lose. Wow his gas tank made him lose. Wow look at how his motor helps him win. He wins because he is aggressive. How can that guy lose when he squats 600 pounds? Can you believe that high school winner beat those college winners? That winner is a character loser. Etc, etc. winning is discussed around the water cooler. Since you do no care about winning, what compells you to this particular wrestling forum?3 points

i don't know for sure what Mason is doing. I think he visited RU this week. all signs point to him going there but who knows. regardless i'm happy for him. he's a really good kid. There's not much left on either the 2024 or 2025 Board. Marcus Blaze is the big one left (2025 #3) and it's down to PSU and tOSU.2 points

The words are in the dictionary. Lies Wrong. I judge everyone. Let's be clear, I called you and anyone disrespectful of the anthem a jerk because they are jerkish jerks that jerkishly jerkoff to disrespecful jerks. I like this. Some truth. Keep going. I don't want the government taking my money to help people that do not want to be helped, and do not want the opportunity to help themself. Whatever lifestyle those people are, I don't support my tax dollars going to them and I don't want to be their friend. I don't want my money going to people with illegal activities or for activities that violate the golden rule, such as the people chanting "Death to America." They only way they should get money from me is if I choose to give to them. And sometimes I do... More lies. Remind me again how this relates to my youth baseball team reflecting on how they can get better so that umpires do not determine the game's outcome? How does this relate to PA? How widespread was that view? And I guess it was a good thing enough of those personally accountable self-rightous bible thumpers supported desegregation.2 points

Swimming might be cheap to add when you already have a facility, but it’s not a cheap sport to maintain. Numerous ADs have told me they’d rather have a low-maintenance small roster team than a comparable roster size with a pool to manage. As we also know with D1 accounting practices, the math doesn’t always work like it should.2 points

I don't understand the bracketing that Flo has for 65KG. Below is their bracket. I think this is dumb. To make the top semifinal a wrestler must be best of 3 wrestlers. This is the case for either quarterfinal that feeds into it. To make the bottom semifinal you must either be Zain Retherford or the top wrestler out of 6 guys. This makes no sense. It makes the bracket unbalanced and the 4 seed more advantageous than the 2 or 3 seeds. It would make more sense to give Retherford his own semi spot and then distribute the 12 wrestlers equally to feed into the other three semi spots. This would make either semifinalist the top wrestler out of 4 instead of two semis being feed by small brackets with 3 wrestlers each and the other semi having 2x as many guys. I would probably do it something like this Here I've made Retherford/the guy with the bye to the semi as the defacto 1 seed distributed the other wrestlers according to their seeds. If there is something in the procedures that favours the actual 1 seed over the guy with a bye to the semifinals I'd switch Retherford with Lee's quarter bracket. This would give the 1 seed Lee the most advantageous semifinal position avoiding both the two seed, Diakomihalis, and the wrestler with the bye, Retherford, until the finals. It would look like this I can't figure out why they do it that way. I thought they would have realized how stupid it was to do it like this the last time after they looked at the 74kg bracket. Totally unbalanced. Nolf had to win only one match to make the finals the same as Dake who had the bye. Meanwhile All the wrestlers on the bottom like the two and three seeds would have to win 3.1 point

How many spots out of 6 do Penn State or Nittany Lion Wrestling Club guys (including recruits and former wrestlers) take? 57 KG - Gilman, Nico, Lliledahl 65 KG - Zain, Lee, Bartlett 74 KG - Dake, Nolf, Cenzo, Haines, Mesenbrink, Facundo 86 KG - DT, Brooks, Starocci, Dean, Mirasola 97 KG - Snyder 125 KG - Kerk1 point

No one was actually against Starocci until he mouthed off to JB and bumped to 86. That's the only universe where people cheer for a piece of trash like Downey.1 point

Guys... Beerfest is basically a re-enactment of the summer after my True Frosh year and the happenings of the University of Michigan wrestling team. We inspired greatness. You wouldn't believe where the bit about Das Bewt came from... or more importantly... whom it is inspired by.1 point

You would be happy to know that a world class athlete got stomped then! Carlin Isles was the most prolific rugby sevens player until his own Sadulaev showed up... on Team USA (Perry Baker) and before being a world class athlete he was just some dude who came close at track OTT. Barely ran a 8:15 beer mile and can still rip a sub-11 hundred. Luckily he enjoyed his man of the match honors and had a sip of the boot when all the track n00bs were confused post-race.1 point

My buddy is #2 in the beer mile world for rankings! Stinkin' Canadian like that Vecchiomania holds the record. Last year world champs were hold in Chicago and this year in Windsor, Canada (Detroit plus a passport). Let's just say I'm a fan and avid supporter on, off, and philanthropically of the beer mile.1 point

for you - I'll buy you one before weight in - and another one after Impressive feat by the way. We once did a beer mile back in high school - you gather around a track on a saturday with a cooler of beers. and you drink one beer at the beginning, and then another as you finish each lap. I puked during lap three, but finished the mile under seven minutes (not great, but I was nearly drunk by the end)1 point

That offer stand for anyone? I once won a bet by eating three brats before swimming a 200 fly without puking.1 point

There would be byes, but they would be less messed up than they are now. Below is the consolation bracket from 74kg in 2021. There were 8 wrestlers in the bracket. The championship bracket had three wrestlers on the top and 5 on the bottom including Dake who had a bye to the semis. The consolation bracket contained the 6 wrestlers who lost before the final with two on the top and 4 on the bottom. If I were to draw them up it would look something like this Championship Nolf 1 Nolf bye 7 Nolf Gantt 10 2 Gantt Joseph Nolf Massa 12 3 Massa bye 8 Wick bye 4 Wick Wick Dake Marsteller 5 Marsteller bye 9 Marsteller bye 11 6 Carr Carr Dake Dake and the consolation would look something like this Bye (missing quarter) Joseph Joseph (loser 1/2) Carr Carr (loser 9) Carr Wick Bye (loser 3/4) Wick (loser 10) Marsteller Marsteller (Loser 11) Massa (loser 8) Massa Marsteller bye (loser 5/6) Massa Gantt (loser 7) Gantt Bye (missing R16) The entries missing due to the matches eliminated to accommodate the semifinal bye are in bold. You can see there is one on the top and another on the other side making the backet balanced. Brackets were filled out progressing wrestlers, but what I think their seeds were for illustration purposes. These matches never happened.1 point

BJJ>Wrestling is not a given. BJJ doesn't work nearly as well when you're on cement, when the other guy can headbutt you from your guard, when you can get kicked and kneed while you're on the ground, and a number of other things. The BJJ practiced in competition has less direct application to a real fight than wrestling does, because the advantage of being on top in a real fight is much bigger than the advantage of being on top in a grappling competition. BJJ also loses some effectiveness if you don't walk around in real life wearing a Gi.1 point

From working in media for the past 30+ years, I can tell you the three most popular sports in the Olympics are swimming, gymnastics and track and field - nothing else is even close, not USA basketball or whatever your personal preference. But, understand even these sports are under roster pressure. The US swimming roster is capped this year at 26 men and 26 women. In the pool, there are 14 individual events for men and women, three relays for men and women and one mixed relay. In addition, there is a 10K open water race for both men and women. While the US can enter up to two swimmers per race, only the trials winner in each race automatically qualifies in each race, and runners up are reliant on super swimmers like Michael Phelps to win multiple events at trials so that they can go to the games. (Of note, my son has swam against one of the favorites in the 200 back this summer in MD; he is one those racers who, if he doesn't win the trials, will need to help to get to the games as he doesn't have a realistic chance to make the games in another race.) So, while the IOC wants more swimming events, they don't want any more athletes at the games - even for the most popular sports. I do believe you will see the IOC/World Aquatics add the 50 Breast, Fly and Back as well as additional relays (200 Free, 800 Medley, more mixed gender races) for future games. But, I won't be surprised if they continue to further limit the number of swimmers even the US can bring.1 point

Is this NLWC or PSU wrestlers? You can't count both. Hall and Suriano are not NLWC wrestlers; Gillman, Dake and Snyder were not PSU wrestlers. I think NLWC gets the upper 4 weights.1 point

I am not replying to you but to some of the other posters on here. That particular mask blocks particles 3 micron and larger. They are useless against Covid. The Covid 19 virus is .07 microns. The N95 mask which no one gave us to wear blocks particles .3 microns and larger. Better but still not very effective. Remember the covid 19 is .07 microns. the hair on your head is 70 microns in diameter to give you an idea how small the covid 19 is. Then you have all the gaps around the mask because it is a poor fit on your face. But if makes you feel better to wear a mask ,wear it.1 point

3 feels like the absolute bare minimum 6 seems aggressive so I'm going to go with 4 thinking that lee gets it done at 57 and Yianni or Alirez at 65 and hedging that if zain or lee does it at 65 then Kerk wont at heavy.1 point

ahh ... but save it from what? See there is some intrigue.1 point

I don’t get how we can’t get a full 10 weights, they’re already doing the event, paying for venue, promotion(?), mats, referees, TV/streaming, etc. the cost of adding weights is much less than the cost of adding a new sport or whatever’s1 point
