Soldano pins Rogotzke. That was fun. Think if they wrestle 10 times, it’ll end in a pin by either side every time.3 points

Looks like he’s getting ready to transfer to Greece/CKWC3 points

30 seconds top/bottom 30 seconds top/bottom 1:00 neutral All three periods get wrestled to completion. No sudden victory. Riding time will determine the outcome in a tie after the 1:00 neutral. If riding time is going to be the decider you at least have a chance, after knowing that, to do something. Without sudden victory refs can call stalling without ending the match. Overtime would always be a 9:00 min match barring a pin.3 points

Wouldn't it be fun if Surber beat Rocky and Doucet takes Zach to TB and wins by 1 sec riding time just to please the OT fans?3 points

Shane isn’t there because he’s a hype guy - he’s there because he works his butt off and earned the right to be the lead guy. He’s always “on” and his hype isn’t a schtick. Hype guys don’t do research and appreciate action like Shane does. He’s excitable and has a nearly unmatched passion for the sport.3 points

Beau Bartlett just beat Mendez, lost to Nick Lee on criteria 10-10, and has very recent wins over Pletcher, Kolodzik and McKenna. The kid isn’t flashy at all but he’s a gamer and he wins. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

While we are all bitching, I'm here to complain that my buddy again narrowly missed making the olympic team yesterday because Team USA and their stupid goddamn blatant money grab known as the olympic team trials decided to put on a marathon in FLORIDA that didn't end until after NOON. Everyone dropped like flies and now we may only send two reps on the men's side because of the complex and difficult global selection process that was blatantly ***ducking** ignored and the women's side produced unexpected results to say the least via picking terrible race conditions. The athlete's issues were straight up ignored because they wanted some sweet money from NBC/Peacock. It would be the equivalent of having to weigh in at 65kg in order to compete at 74kg. ***ducking** travesty. End rant but I needed to complain outside my running bubble, please resume complaining about the Pan Am $ham.2 points

I admire your dedication to this cause. I'm going for insulting Iowa 77 times this season. So far I'm at 284 insults, so I might have overshot the mark a bit. They've just given us too much ammo.2 points

If the Dems end up with control of all three branches and Biden as a lame duck President it’s over. - unlawful immigrants will all be given citizenship - the Supreme Court will be stacked - DC and Puerto Rico will become states - the process of eliminating the electoral college will begin2 points

Hearing Sparks ‘guest’ on FRL helped me understand his personality outside the broadcast scene and brought me around to him even more. Seems like a good guy on top of being an intelligent and vocal advocate for wrestlers and the sport of wrestling.2 points

Along those lines, in the 1980 NCAA tournament, one of the 177 semi-final bouts was between Dave Allen of Iowa State and Benny Hill of Tennessee. If I'm not dating myself enough by remembering when Tennessee had a wrestling team, it's by remembering when I used to watch Dave Allen at Large and the Benny Hill Show (with Jane Leeves, later Daphne on Frasier, as one of Hill's Angels) on my local PBS channel. Wednesday nights after 10, I think. One of the commentators called the bout the battle of the English comedians, although Allen was, in fact, Irish.2 points

Use data and think critically. The Republican party is dead. The US has been on the path of a one-party state and will succeed by 2044. Who is the primary voter for the Republican party? White Christians Who do nonwhites vote for? Democrats Nonwhites provide 40% of the Democratic vote Nonwhites provide less than 20% of the Republican vote How has the population of white people changed in the USA from the original 13 colonies to 2020? What is the nonwhite demographic that is increasing in the USA? How is the apportionment of seats in the House of Representatives computed? The number of people regardless of citizenship. What can the House of Representatives do? Pass bills, spend money, impeach, etc. Are there bills proposing to allow noncitizens to vote? Yes. How long does it take for an illegal immigrant to become a citizen and vote? Depends. It can be immediate with amnesty, while other paths take years. Children of illegals are immediate citizens and can vote on their 18th birthday. Illegal immigrants have multiple children. Does the ordinary public citizen support illegal immigration? No, because it redistributes wealth from them to illegals. Who benefits from illegal immigration? The immigrant and the immigrant's employer of cheap labor. What is the likely reason for the mass increase in illegal immigration from those in power? To stay in power and profit How long will it take for Democrats to gain a permanent voting majority? 20 years. Most likely less. Are white and black citizens losing political influence? Yes, rapidly to Hispanic people. Does Biden want to secure a one-party state? Biden's string pullers do. I think the ref on Friday was confusing “reaction time” with “continuous movement.” Davis kept moving so for some reason he was considering it all as one “reaction” when clearly it wasn’t. I just skimmed through the match thread on BWI and I am impressed that I did not see one person that actually thought it shouldn’t have been a TD.2 points
-
Please don’t tell me you like Jeff Byers then. I much prefer Sparks. And if it’s Sparks’ excitement you don’t like, then liking Byers doesn’t make sense as the dude is basically always screaming. I don’t hate it, but I’m surprised at the number of people that think he’s one of the best announcers ever.2 points
-
I would say there was an obvious inconsistency at '25 and '41. They gave reaction time at '25 but not at '41. If you're going to give Davis the TD, Bartlett shouldn't have gotten one...IMO. I'd love to see an independent ref reviewing the call at the Conference Tourneys and of course the NCAAs. Not the same ref who made the call...the guy who's more inclined to go with the call on the Mat...a ref who doesn't have a bias.2 points

I dropped mine as well, thought about adding back for Feb mainly for this match but can't tell that Flo has anything else worthwhile for the month, did I mention Flo sucks? This meet should be on ESPN! But alas, I have pickleball at 1pm will look forward to results and wait to watch on the YouTube.2 points

1 second of riding time difference is absurd given how imprecisely the end of riding time is determined. It is like dragging out the chains to impose a phony perception of precision in footballl games. There are so many sources of measurement error but we will just pretend them away and use an index card between the ball and stick to decide first down. Theater.2 points

I love it tbh. The green shirts are also sick. I guess you hate the military? /s I love the military. Served. Dad served. Grandfather served. Uncles served. Great uncles served. Father in law served. Niece served. Son is active duty. Even wanted Michigan to beat Iowa. And those singlets were mother-fugly!! Loving the military does not require losing the ability to see.1 point

Because he's a play-by-play guy, he's not an analyst. They are two different roles. The color commentator goes into the weeds with technique, nuance. That's not what the lead broadcaster's role is. Shane's knowledge on the sport is more than the basic "down and distance" type of thing, but he's also not going to throw things at you that drown out the important things - the action on the mat. I will whole-heartedly agree with you on one point though - we aren't the target market. Hell, I'm fortunate enough to be a voice at the NCAA championships and I know most of the fans in the building know more about the sport from a technical point of view than I do - but my role isn't to explain the sport to people. It's "down and distance" with a sprinkling of stats, history and nuggets of information. I live in the weeds with the stats and records, but I don't with the technical parts of the sport. Those of us on the boards usually fall under the umbrella of "we already know about what we're watching" so you're right there. We aren't the target demo. I've spent a lot of time on the broadcast side for a number of sports - the guy leading the broadcast is going to focus on leading the broadcast and setting up the analyst. Too much inside baseball for a niche sport like wrestling would turn more viewers away than it would bring them in. We'd still watch, but that's about it.1 point
