  3. While raising my 5 children 35 years ago we lived in town 150 yards from the police department. The fire department was 100 yards away. I didn't feel the need to have a gun then. I have since moved to the country. Times have changed. If I had a gun ( when my children were young) I would done exactly what my father did when I was a child. Instruct them on how to safely use a gun. Instruct them on how dangerous a gun can be. I would safely store the gun. There is a lot of responsibility as a parent when you own guns. I take gun safety very seriously as all gun owners should.

  6. The irony of your post is amazing. I doubt Coach Sanderson would appreciate the idea that he allows "them" to thrive. Do "they" have to ask him for permission to improve? Your inherent racism is showing.

  8. Best strategy is to never read the comments. There are always going to be idiots in the world whether they are truly racists or just ding-dongs who enjoy being trolls. They are the type of people who are way more likely to post something in the replies, so while the count of 4 ignorant posts out of 28 is truly a sad ratio, I would like to think the % of idiots is way less the 1% in both wrestling fans and the entire population.

  9. Back to the actual topic and question from the OP... Does the cop have a legal responsibility to take a bullet for a student? No. Is the cop less than heroic for not being willing to take a bullet? Yes. Is the cop a "coward?' That depends on your perspective. We mostly all think we will be hero's when the situation calls us to be. But the reality is that we won't really know until that situation occurs. Putting yourself between a shooter and civilians. Rushing into a burning building engulfed with smoke to save people who may or may not even be there - or a cat. Crawling across a frozen lake to save a drowning person - or a dog. Heroes are AWESOME. But not everyone is a hero. A lot of good people aren't heroes - but it doesn't make them cowards.

  10. This is a good example of how most people understand this preposterous ruling. If each state followed suit it would be chaotic. How supposedly intelligent people can study law, and be considered good enough to make it to the bench, only to churn out this kind of partisan garbage is what destroys the people’s confidence in the institutions of our civilization.

  12. Checking the HATER METER for Keegan O'Toole. And, and, and, it's empty. He's a stud. Congrats to stupid Missouri for coming out strong in every match, looking for takedowns and mostly getting them. The bright spots for the ILLINI were the two true freshmen, Kannon Webster and Chris Moore. Coach Poeta said at intermission that his guys were "respecting them too much." As usual, he was right. Great production, Jim Gibbons and David Taylor did a fantastic job, no buffering, high resolution cameras, good replays at the end of matches, no commercials during the broadcast. Zero complaints from me about the show they put on. This is how we grow the sport. I hate Missouri. #FREEJORDAN! .

  14. Winners expect to win before the contest starts; losers don't. Any individual becomes what he or she thinks about most. If you want to be a champion, that thought must dominate your life. But most importantly, winners dwell on the rewards of winning; losers dwell on the penalties of failure. Cradles are the most powerful pinning combination known to man Winners Pin to Win These All-Americans are listed in descending order by the number of days won.

  15. The bicameral legislature exists specificly to prevent the majority rule and give the minority a say. It is a fundamental element of our representative democracy. Always has been. This is not a MAGA invention. This is an always and everywhere thing.

  18. I have considered it. It is likely because this happens very rarely. I live in a very different situation than you. I live in a densely populated suburb of Chicago. Several of my children live in Chicago. I used to live in Chicago. But none of us have ever had a home invader. You used the word when, not if, you have a home invader. I am curious why that is. One more question. If you live in a community that has a lot of guns, all of whose owners know how to use them, a lot of dogs, and a large influx of military families, all of which serve as a deterrent to unscrupulous idiots AND owning a gun increases the risk of a loved one being injured or killed by that gun, wouldn't you be better off not owning a gun and allowing the communal deterrence be your protection?

  19. To answer your question as I have stated this was act of a coward. No I have not risked my life with the added element of having to take someone else’s. I have risked to save children (run into a fire) But neither your nor my examples relate here, as I have not contracted and received compensation for the specific purpose of protecting those children, nor am I a trained police officer. Entering into something that you knew involved inherent risk, which in this case up to and includes loss of life, and you accept your end of that agreement, but at the most critical time you back away from the primary function you are there for……I mean, that’s not at all a similar question to what you are asking.

  20. Wow. That is a lot to digest. I keep it simple. Get long and get loud. The vast majority of my investments are in index funds. My first job out of college was managing index funds and I never looked back. The book I was given to read at that time, and it still makes sense today, is Winning the Loser's Game. As I pointed out to my children, if you had bought an S&P 500 Index fund, and reinvested dividends, with the worst possible timing in the past 35 years, February 19, 2020, you would now be +48.6% or +10.9% annualized. As a matter of fact if you had done this on the five worst timed days in the past 35 years (2/19/20, 8/11/08, 3/19/02, 1/6/09, and 5/21/01) your investments would be +10.9%, +10.9%, +8.7%, +13.7%, and +7.9% annualized, respectively. The point being that if you are a long term investor then it does not matter what price you buy at, it only matters that you buy.

  24. Even after omitting half the teams in the dual, that is a better hype video than anything I have ever seen at the NCAA level for wrestling. You want to grow fans in 2023? This is how. Dana White may be an S-tier scumbag but he is a scumbag with an international audience and wrestling would be keen to take notes.

  25. Incorrect. It is textualist/originalist to read and interpret the entire Amendment, as well as anything else that would explain the writer’s intent. At the time it was written it was perfectly understood that it pertained to the Civil War. The men affected by it were well known to have been associated with the Southern war effort. They didn’t, nor could they, deny it. Even so, enough controversy arose that Congress found it necessary to write a statute the next year. A statute that the Colorado court ignored. I believe that when the Supreme Court deals with this case it’ll be said to be textualist/originalist, and will go against the Colorado court, and you.

  28. The original questionn wasn’t does the cop have a legal obligation, the question was SHOULD. My opinion is yes because you signed a contract and accepted compensation for the specific, detailed purpose of protecting those children. Is he a coward because he had a weapon and a signed contract for compensation to protect those children, but did nothing while those unarmed people inside were slaughtered….yes he is a coward.

  29. My opinion is that UFC provides the best production of college wrestling that I have seen. Great commentators, graphics on screen of the individual match scores, riding time, team score, and match time. The stream goes world wide bringing in a whole new audience of fans. These streams are viewed by thousands of viewers. There are several camera views of the action and they put on a show. I love the most valuable wrestler belt for each dual. They offered a 3 month subscription before the season where you paid $9.99 for one month and got 2 additional months for free.

  30. Can someone please explain why we need UFC pass to watch this? Shouldnt sub to Flo, Espn+ and that StoneFlipper thing really be enough!? Why isn't there a GWN and IWB streaming pass. What's the point in holding the dual halfway in the Lou if you're not gonna stream it on something real fans subscribe to? Guess I'll be watching another episode of Corner Gas tomorrow evening.

  31. Interesting history of your self-execution theory: “Jefferson Davis contended in 1868 that Section Three was self-executing and barred his treason prosecution, and Chief Justice Salmon P. Chase agreed with those arguments as a circuit judge presiding over the proceedings in Virginia.[8] But shortly thereafter, the Chief Justice issued the first opinion on Section Three and held that the text was not self-executing in Virginia and—in the absence of congressional action—did not apply to a Black criminal defendant there.[9] Following these inconsistent rulings, Congress enacted a Section Three enforcement statute and federal prosecutors brought many actions to oust ineligible officials, including half of the Tennessee Supreme Court.” https://constitutionalcommentary.lib.umn.edu/article/amnesty-and-section-three-of-the-fourteenth-amendment/

  33. Unless you really dig Gardner-Webb or Sacred Heart, the big dual on Thursday is ILLINOIS against Missouri. It will be streamed on UFC Fight Pass. We've posted a preview at The ILLINI Wrestling Blog and Forum and Beyond. Some pre-dual questions for the Mizzou posters here: 1. I watched the Missouri/Air Force dual on Sunday. Peyton Mocco rolled his ankle and had to take injury time to get his ankle taped up. Is he ready to go against the ILLINI? Has he been able to practice since that dual? If we're going to bet six figures on the ILLINI, we have a right to know. It's in the Second Amendment. 2. Same question for Zach Elam, except it was his knee. Mocco and Elam are supposed to face Ruth and Luffman, making them the two marquee matchups. Will they happen? 3. Missouri came out quickly and aggressively in that dual, and in the matches I watched, the Tiger wrestlers were in on takedowns either off the whistle or within :20. Has that been the case for y'all this year, or was it the competition? 4. This question is for everybody: It is our first time using UFC Fight Pass. Is there anything we need to know about that streaming service? Good stream/bad stream? On time? Announcers? Casting to other devices? Easy to cancel? 5. Again, a question for everybody: Should athletic departments start putting out injury reports for wrestling matches? Below is a picture of Ben Askren in an argument with my wife. You can see me in the background yelling at him before running inside the camper and locking the door.

  34. Bailey was obviously pissed off he couldn't do anything. Arujau could have been a little nicer, I suppose, but this is wrestling. If you aren't tough you won't make it. That said, seeing those asshats in the comments is sad.

  36. We learn more about Illinois injury situation from IWB than from the team itself (or any team that matter). This information is vital for people planning around the event in anticipation of a certain matchup.

  38. I appreciate all that flo does on a macro level as they let me watch wrestling from all over the world for a very reasonable price. those guys are traveling all over the place and my guess is that the accommodations are not top shelf. That said, what i find truly annoying is the fact that the matches in progress where you go to change mats are 30-40 seconds ahead of the match on the big screen. you invariably see score changes that have yet to occur before moving back up to see them “live” on the big screen. I am not a tech guy so dont have any suggestions but it really is bothersome.

  46. "The question echoes in the crowd's roar: 'What moves will you make with this acclaim?'" "As much as people do not like you sometimes, they still turn their heads to watch." "There are a lot of haters out there. Those rat bastards that don't like the way that we compete. I don't know what to say. I feel sorry for them, man." These All-Americans draw attention. Their score? A triumph, counted in the roars of profile views, descending in a sorted order. Qualifiers were ready to grapple with the mat of publicity, laying their profile bare for all to see.
