Can we pause a moment to acknowledge how impressive an achievement this is? I would say this is more impressive than his wrestling achievements. And that is not meant to diminish his wrestling achievements in any way.4 points

Should change the title of this thread to 'Perfect Is The Enemy of Good'. Cutting weight is bane of this sport. Its a tragedy that we still allow it. No one is winning or losing a scholarship at U8 Tulsa Nationals. But I guarantee, someone is running to make weight. Think about that? That should be a crime.2 points

I bet BB respects individuals' chosen pronouns and BB intentionally uses incorrect pronouns as a rhetorical device to illustrate the disagreement with those who do not. He would call them sir if they were Sue.2 points

There are many shades of gray along the spectrum between handing out food, water and blankets, to training paramilitary forces (mujahideen, anti-communist forces), to actively aiding in terrorist plots. This seems to be closer to the first, no? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

That’s part of the delineation i was talking about. I don’t think you can show that Americans support killing civilians, raping girls, decapitating babies, or burning people alive.2 points

It is constitutional crisis if he becomes president. It is the solemn duty of Congress to elect their speaker. Procrastinating won't help, they already know each other - too well. Jordan was slamming talks of some Republicans working with Democrats but maybe they should. Might bring us closer together.1 point

Yes, weight cutting is not recommended, got it It's more so making sure they are on weight as the day goes on... I have 50+ kids on my JV team, it's hard enough to make sure they are all on weight once much less multiple times1 point

UNC, while a step below Stanford, is considered a "public Ivy" and has a very strong pedigree Woods finished his Stanford degree in three years with an academic overload because they cut the program. Anyone from those Stanford classes should be given a very big, very fair asterisk given the circumstances surrounding the program.1 point

It's another day and another conversation with a Big Ten coach and Ryan Holmes. Today, Ryan speaks with Wisconsin head coach Chris Bono. The two talk about how All-Americans Eric Barnett and Dean Hamiti both have a chip on their shoulders after the end of the 2022-23 campaign. Bono also runs through the Badgers lineup and talks about some of the many possibilities in a young Wisconsin starting ten. Also discussed is the plan for Braxton Amos during his Olympic redshirt and how his NCAA tournament ended prematurely due to an injury. For the full interview: Click Here1 point

This feels like we're heading towards madison weight classes. For dual meets, you show up, step on the scale and whichever wrestler weighs closest to that weight you wrestle that opponent on the spot. Obviously, I am being dramatic, but schools have taken steps towards limiting poor weight cuts. I believe doing mat-side weigh-ins is actually going to have a negative impact on people fixating on their weight. Let me check my weight 5 times a day to ensure I am able to wrestle and if I am 1 pound over because I drank an extra Gatorade after my last match I need to run it off before my next.1 point
-
I was irked by all those who were certain that Koll leaving Cornell and then Stanford would result in mass exoduses of wrestlers at each school. But thanks for the warning.1 point

This is like people who claim “Biden gave Iran six billion dollars! They attacked Israel with it!”. Well, no, we released six billion dollars of Iran’s own money to a fund, held in Qatar, and administered by the US Department of the Treasury, that allows them to purchase humanitarian aid supplies as approved by the US. Which, to date, has had $0.00 withdrawn from it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

I used to work for one of the prominent soybean breeders in the US. My roommate’s dad was a pretty well known wheat breeder. IP deal with Quaker. The answer: you take a flower from one plant and mash it into the flower, still on the stem, of another plant. Then you out a tiny little bag around it and mark it with a label, indicating “AB * XY” cross. Seeds result. You plant them, grow them out and take a DNA sample to verify they’re what you wanted. Cross them with each other, multiple generations, and eventually you have enough seed to sell. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk1 point

Congressional Republicans seem hell bent on demonstrating their inability to complete the most basic administrative functions of government, never mind competently doing the people's business. Will their teen-like addiction to drama cost them with voters? Is there and unintended consequence at the ballot box causing moderate voters to walk away from Republican candidates?1 point

There is always a need for legislating and governing. Times change, people change, things change……democracy changes. And each day…..shit happens. Legislating and governing is not automatically synonymous with “big government”1 point

For many, government grinding to a halt is a feature, not a bug. They claim government doesn't work, then they go and break it, and then point at the government and say "see, it doesn't work."1 point
-
Historically, I have been of the same view. Less action from the government costs me less money. The new dynamic now, though, is the silliness that is very serious of the debt limit and voting to fund the government. All it does is create unnecessary drama and cost tax payers money. It is all very Dwight Schrute Doomsday Device-y.1 point

Guys. He’s clearly trying to “preach” a very.. questionable viewpoint.. by pretending to have a “discussion”. Stop giving him the attention he wants.. Besides.. if he actually wanted to.. and more importantly was actually doing things to help wrestling… He wouldn’t be so ignorant of the bureaucracy and financial realities on the ground. instead he’s spewing his bitterness to women and posting wiki excerpts about colleges. Dont give him the attention he’s clearly desperate for1 point

No, really. Who do you suggest weigh in the individuals? That is a minimum of six more volunteers or officials for most tournaments. For that matter, where are we getting six scales? How do we know they are all calibrated the same? If someone misses on a scale on mat 1, do they get to try on mat 2-6 scales?1 point
-
I’ve been around the sport for almost 30 years at this point and I’ve heard “matside weigh ins” thrown around since I got started. Not once have I ever seen it. I ask this openly to the board, how can something solve a problem when we have next to no tangible practice or data to support it. I hear people clamoring for it, but where does it actually occur?1 point
