As of August 7, 2023, President Joe Biden just took his 367th day of vacation in just 2.5 years, which sets a record compared to any other president in recent history. Biden has been on vacation for roughly 40% of his time in office. He is outpacing every single one of his modern predecessors. So he is unique. He's the oldest ever and takes the most vacations ever. I don't get that much. He's figured out the system. Perhaps we only need a 60% President. Pay him/her 60% of what he is currently getting. Obviously we don't need a full time President, he's proving that everyday. mspart2 points

Like I said, Central Planning does love their sheep. When asked, I offered one point. Mspart, you point out another - what is it - who gets to define it? In the school board case, it was actually instigated by the White House. They contacted the School Board Association to contact them. The School Board Assn. has experienced a drop in membership over it. Anybody who uses their head for something besides something to hold their ears apart knows there is no great threat by white supremacists, of which there are few; nor white extremists. If the groups of inner city youngsters who are shooting each other based sometimes on race, sometimes on geography, sometimes on religion or other social traits, but mostly because they have drugs, were accurately identified in the data, the data would tell a different story. If you think Central Planning is going to tell you about real terrorist cells moving about the country after entering through our southern border, even the ones they know of, you need to sign up for CNN+.2 points

I couldn’t imagine living a life where literally every topic is RvD RvD RvD. The anxiety alone would be brutal.1 point

So if you bully and call people names you think it will convince them to read a report (from what appears to be a bias web site) and thus everyone will agree you are correct.1 point

This. Very much this. And the best is when they tell you they are too damn busy, or don’t care enough about it to read ‘it’….but care enough or have enough time to sit with strangers and argue about what ‘it’ says.1 point

Is he doing this or his lawyers doing this? Maybe his lawyers should be thrown in jail, that'll teach em for trying to use legal procedures and arguments.1 point

Secretary Antony Blinken @SecBlinken The United States strongly condemns Russia’s conviction of opposition leader Aleksey Navalny on politically motivated charges. The Kremlin cannot silence the truth. Navalny should be released.1 point

Don't you ever tire of people who don't even read things, yet they can tell you all about what the report or article is saying? It's maddening and tedious to me.1 point

So will UW and UO bring back wrestling? I would applaud that. mspart1 point

If I remember history and I'm not sure I am remembering it well, it was the Big 8 champ vs Pac 8 champ at the Rose Bowl. That was the deal for a lot of the history of the Rose Bowl. That has been lost for the last number of years, but the Pac 8 was a serious conference. Now it is relegated to history. I'm a nostalgic type and just think this is sad. Blame money and airplanes. Can you imagine Big 8 winner traveling all the way to Pasadena back in the day. Miserable. That was the key to Pac 8 success at the Rose Bowl ha ha. mspart1 point

Will Big 10 change names? Big 12? Pac 12. My suggestion for Pac 12 name change is Pac 0. There will be no PAC anymore. It's done. That history is gone. mspart1 point

This is where I stopped reading... JK. In all seriousness, I understand your point and agree that University Presidents/Chancellors care more about academics than athletics and value the research dollars and ability to bring in the best professors as it has the greater chance to improve their academic reputation/ranking. I believe schools have experienced an increase in enrollment when they have had national success in football/basketball so I do think you can make an argument for the 5 star QB, but your point, especially the long term viewpoint remains. Being included in the Big 10 academic alliance is a big deal for them, no question. It is one of the reason any President/chancellor the Big 10 ask to join is going to accept. BUT it is not the sole criteria for the Big 10 conference to invite new members as Stanford would bring more to the table both academically and overall athletic success. It's football that is driving the bus.1 point

If you are familiar with any of our (former) international officials, you may remember the late great Tom Clark, whom could not have a conversation without being a genius, witty smart ass. Most chats included many quips and great lines....a couple of my favortie: Hey next time you're at Lowe's, check out the clearance they have on aisle four......a whole pallet full of go f**k yourself. AND You know what, lets say we go to lunch. I'll buy you a go f**k yourself grouper sandwich1 point

I actually acknowledged that in the post, and issued a pre-rebuttal involving all the new and talented ILLINOIS kids coming into the program. Moreover, I root for all ILLINOIS kids, but my favorites are ILLINI, and Ruth and Byrd are very much ILLINI. Cheers!1 point

Actually you said it doesn’t matter, in answer to someone asking what a smoking tube does. When it does matter, because you can grill shorter cooks and get a nice smoke flavor. Not everything with smoke needs to be hours on end with crisp bark. Grilled chicken breast? Uses a smoke tube. Big cut of grouper fillets, smoke tube is perfect. Just a couple examples of meat you don’t want sitting in a smoker for hours.1 point

... and don't forget coach Ed Ruth. Poeta found a loophole in the NCAA, sent Ruth to Croatia and brought in AOC (no not for coffee service), gives em an extra coach. Ed will be recruiting talent in Croatia and training em up on Mountain Risnjak for two years before ship'n back to Champaign-Urbana. We are calling it Illini Base Camp R.1 point

it is cute that you think universities have anything to do with academics any longer. UNC had to be forced by the Supreme Court to take academics seriously in its admissions policy. Duke?!? The professors and medical staff at Duke "university" have serially beclowned themselves with SJW hoaxes over lacrosse dancers and denying surgery to children due to vaccine naziism. It would take less than 30 seconds to find rampant seriously non-academic policy or practice or utterance from the Wahoos or GaTech trying to chickify their engineers by lowering the standards and grade inflation but I respect my time too much to do so. " . . . take academics seriously" Cute. Tinkerbell and the Tooth Fairy have some money for your next molar, IX Ripe. P.S. I agree with your handle: Title IX is and always has been over-ripe and has always had the stenches of being developed by fermented and addled brains.1 point

Didn't count matches but Okie State RTC has done well in the freestyle offseason. Thompson won U20s, Fix won U23 and gold @ Poland, Plott won U23 and bronze @ Poland. Carroll won U20s and will wrestle later this month. Jacarra won a gold at some tournament. Couple of cats are going to represent team Mexico and Puerto Rico this month. Great to see these results in what's pretty much the first year of the revamped Okie State RTC.1 point

I think a definition of extremism is useful in this discussion. 1. Is a person who bashes in a police car an extremist? 2. Is a person that sets a police precinct on fire an extremist? 3. Is a person that sets buildings in a city an extremist? 4. is a person that speaks up at a school board mtg or city council and is a bit animated an extremist? 5. Is a protester outside an abortion clinic an extremist? 6. Is a protester outside a police station an extremist? Loads of other examples of could be extremists. DOJ put parents on notice for being extremist at school board meetings because of what's going on in schools that is crazy. Voicing concerns or opinions at a school board mtg is not extremist in my opinion. Telling them you are going to injure or kill them is another matter. mspart1 point

Yes. On the west coast, people can go to the beach, the mountains, the desert, a big city, a national park, a boat ride, a big city, a concert, a club, etc. Or they can stay home and enjoy the weather — by skateboarding, rollerblading, playing basketball, swimming, etc. However, in much of the midwest, your options are usually walking aimlessly around Walmart, going to church, or watching sports.1 point
