  1. How about a new business model. When I agree to pay for a new year of Flo I also at that point in time sit down and watch 2 hours of non stop Flo commercials so when it is time to watch wrestling I can actually watch WRESTLING!!

  3. No kidding, I guess getting thrashed by O’Toole daily has made him rise to the occasion, rather than demoralize and fade away. Dude flurries with such intensity and physicality. Fun to watch.

  4. On the old board there were a few of us that believed Poulin was going to end up being solid....and a majority believing he was just an internet sensation with a mohawk. Looking good so far as a freshman.

  8. I remember watching it live with my wife and Villanova grad daughter. We were freaked out. The announcers were initially speculating it came out. Wild stuff. One Villanova story. My dad also graduated from Villanova. My wife and I ran into Jay Wright and his wife at breakfast once. We got talking and his wife asked me if I went to Villanova. I said, "no, but my dad, my daughter, and my money did." Jay laughed at my joke. My daughter was so jealous.

  12. That is scary (eye popping out). Better to be cautious about that one. Steed has been amazing today. I didn't know anything about him going into the weekend.

  15. Being from the Chicagoland area growing up it was the absolute best to go watch midlands and see the "alumni" come and wrestle. I was looking for the guys who won a bunch there....obviously Joe Williams is in a class of his own with 10 titles, but came across this article from 2007. https://intermatwrestle.com/articles/3206/Rev-Rewind-The-Midlands?

  18. And the right thing is to lie and say that there was something preventing him from competing(other than actual competition at the weight class)? Is that the "right thing?"

  19. THANK YOU! Our whole family was saying that. He DEFINITELY pulled the 5-on-2 more than once, not to mention he got shot/driven out multiple times, then took Rich out SIX times, and ended with ZERO stall calls! I mean, what are the refs even doing there?!?!?

  23. For many years, Midlands was the place to wrestle after Christmas. In the early years, there wasn't much international stuff for our top post collegiate wrestlers to compete in, so you had for example in the early 70's, Gable, the Petersons, Behm, Taylor, Hellickson, Fujita, Schalles, Wojociechowski, Yagla, Azevedo, Gonzales and Kemp, all competing there. Because it was THE event back then, many of the top teams came. Having 3 tournaments in the same time frame has diluted all of the tournaments down..the Southern Scuffle, Midlands, and the Iowa whatever you want to call it....I know the "Salute". And there's other factors as well....I don't have time to even think about what coaches are thinking about why or why not to compete, and where to compete.

  27. Covid? may have criminal acts beyond the MoD. What is the source of Covid? How did it spread? Did any players in the event 201 risk-mitigation tabletops in October 2019 have involvement in Covid funding or its release? Was there any mal-intent? Who, what, when, where, why, and how were the Covid mitigation decisions made?

  29. In Indiana, our girl's state starts this weekend (it goes Regionals and then State) Granted its not put on by the IHSAA, rather the IHSGW until it becomes a sanctioned sport (right now it's classified as emerging until it hits a certain number of participants, then the state will sanction it)

  30. Sort of. Freshmen can use them either half of season. First half is before the tenth date of competition. Anyone else needs to use them only during first half and at that would have to prove actual injury.

  31. Athletes could use five competition dates and still maintain redshirt status. True freshman were not allowed to compete unattached in the first semester.

  32. Poulin has looked pretty good thus far. The tourney has been fun for me to watch, tons of young guys that I know and seeing them do well is awesome. We had (3) guys out of our highschool room that competed and are doing pretty well.

  35. The notion that governments should function financially like we all do with our personal finances is just wrong. That worn out argument is used endlessly by would-be politicians lacking insight and creativity. Personal finances are one thing, world finance is a totally different animal. We have separate college majors for Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Statistics, Mathematics, CS, etc. Different fields, rules, scoring systems and goal posts. All difficult. Even if you're a master of one, you likely know very little about the other. Probably where the "stay in your lane" phrase came from. (Although I don't like that phrase - too snarky for me.)

  40. Surtain has been out for awhile glad he’s back. Really would’ve liked all the guys to compete, but I guess I’ll settle watching the 184 bracket as this is probably the battle for the spot with Harman and Hawks.

  41. I stand by my Trump = Flair analogy. My point was Trump's ever-present (but constantly changing...Goodbye Rudy) "legal team" saved his bacon same as Flair's posse did by the same methods. Now that I think about it, I'll even double down. There are even more similarities than I first thought. The more I think about it, the more I like it. I'm gonna give myself a gold star.

  42. As David Allen Coe oft said, "Think about it..." ...what's happened to us when we're now invoking pro rasslin, and ESPECIALLY, Ric Flair as "legitimate discussions."

  43. This reminds me of the old professional wrestler Ric Flair. Whenever he was in danger of losing a match, Flair's buddies would interrupt the match, distracting the referee. During the distraction, Flair would hit his opponent over the head with a chair (or some such nonsense) and Flair would jump on top of him. The now not-distracted ref would see Flair pinning the opponent and declare him the winner. Flair would strut around to the cheering of his adoring fans whooping and telling the world he was the greatest wrestler and lover the world had ever seen. Does anyone else see the comparison? (Trump's "legal team" = Flair's buddies.) Now that I think about it, the one flaw in my comparison is that, as I remember, Flair's fans seemed smarter than Trump's...

  44. Evidence shows that the FBI lied to suppress the Biden laptop story before the 2020 election. There is evidence that Twitter suppressed information damaging the Biden campaign in the 2020 election. There was evidence in the 2016 election that Google influenced results in favor of the Clinton campaign. Google still is unregulated and moderating search suggestions and results in the U.S.A. There are articles about the massive influence of Facebook and the effect it can have on an election. The election hardware used in the 2020 election was proven to be hackable without a trace record in 2006. People openly admit doing whatever it took to vote Trump out of office. People were caught undercover, admitting they were doing whatever they could with propaganda to get Trump voted out of office. People were arrested for buying votes in the 2020 election. Laws were changed in advance of the 2020 election to benefit one party. The winning party refused to allow the opposition to monitor the voting process at specific locations. There were anomalies in the votes in multiple locations. The government stated that this was the 'most secure election in history.' Can that be proven or disproven? All of these statements can be cited. Forgive me for not having them at my fingertips.

  45. Yes, Trump bears responsibility. Trump lost the election. Whether he felt or was hypothetically cheated, he should have done everything he could to ensure a peaceful transfer. There was probably a lot more to the 2020 election and the events leading to the Jan 6th event than the public will ever know. I'd like to know the truth from more people than Trump.

  46. I have not followed this in gory detail but I’ll chime in anyway … One must believe that Bono has compliance advisors that support Wisconsin athletics. He very likely knows exactly what the rules are and the NCAA guidance. I think it highly unlikely that he is ‘confused.’ Those saying this is on Wisconsin staff / admin are, in my opinion, disingenuous. The coach has a lot of say in this and would not be defending Wisconsin’s actions if he felt differently about how it is being handled. Really seems like this is going to burn Bono and WI wrestling. I’m not sure of the facts so can’t take a strong stance on the situation.…. but …. Importantly, the overall buzz and public opinion is really turning against Bono. Ugly reputation hit in the court of public perception.

  48. There’s always been.. neutral to negative opinions about Bono. But they were usually something talked about in van rides or if you knew someone. He also tried really hard to clean up his image at SDSU and left before the cracks showed

  49. It appears that the Scuffle is only taking teams this year. No individual entries allowed. Kind of lame, as it was a good proving ground for RS FR in years past.
