  1. Made a post in another thread and made me want to check something. Woods was outscored 34-6 in second periods between the open and trials. On the other hand, he outscored his opponents between those two events 61-3 in the first. We may have our very own American Musuakaev.

  2. Clearly you don't hang out with very many Ds. https://www.newsweek.com/what-top-democrats-said-then-now-about-joe-bidens-decline-2073468 What Top Democrats Said Then, And Now, About Joe Biden's Decline Published May 16, 2025 at 5:33 PM EDT Updated May 16, 2025 at 5:34 PM EDT ... Josh Shapiro Shapiro, the popular Pennsylvania governor, transitioned from publicly dismissing any concerns about Biden's cognitive abilities during the 2024 election cycle to later asserting he had privately voiced concerns to Biden about his shortcomings during the same period. n an interview with Politico published on May 14, Shapiro said: "I can tell you that I was very frank with the president during his campaign about what I saw were some of the shortcomings. I was very honest with him in a private setting about that." What he said in 2024: Speaking with Politico last August, when asked directly if he had concerns about Biden's cognitive decline, Shapiro responded confidently: "Not at all, and I've been in regular contact with the president." Pete Buttigieg The former transportation secretary transitioned from staunchly defending President Biden's mental acuity during the 2024 campaign to acknowledging, post-election, that Biden's decision to run for a second term may have been a misstep for the Democratic Party. Post-election: During a town hall event in Iowa on May 13, Buttigieg reflected on Biden's 2024 campaign, stating, "Maybe, you know, right now, with the benefit of hindsight, I think most people would agree that is the case," when asked if Democrats would have been better off without Biden as the nominee. He added, "We're also not in a position to wallow in hindsight. We've got to get ready for some fundamental tests of the future of this country and this party." What he said in 2024: In a July 2 interview with Spectrum News, post-debate, Buttigieg defended President Biden's capabilities, describing him as a "focused and disciplined leader." He emphasized Biden's effectiveness, stating, "Every time I needed something from him from the West Wing I got it." Rep. Ro Khanna Khanna, a progressive California lawmaker, went from strongly defending Biden's cognitive fitness in mid-2024, emphasizing personal interactions to back his claims, to openly stating later that it was a mistake for Biden to run again, calling it "painfully obvious" Biden should not have sought re-election. Post-election: In a statement shared with the Washington Post on May 14, Khanna said: "In my few interactions at public events, I found [Biden] coherent and proud of his record, but it is now painfully obvious he should not have run. We should have had an open primary. We must acknowledge this truth to regain trust with the American people." What he said in 2024: Speaking with CNN in mid-2024, responding to speculation about Biden's cognitive health, Khanna said: "I've seen the president twice in the past two weeks... He's completely mentally sharp." Sen. Chris Murphy The junior senator from Connecticut transitioned from defending Biden's mental sharpness in early 2024 to explicitly acknowledging Biden experienced cognitive decline after the election, highlighting it as a key factor in Democrats' defeat. Post-election: In an interview with Politico published on May 14, Murphy said: "There's no doubt that former President Biden suffered cognitive decline in office. The debate is whether it compromised his ability to act as chief executive... clearly, in retrospect, we should have done something different." What he said in 2024: On CBS's Face the Nation on February 11, 2024, Murphy confidently remarked: "Joe Biden is the only person who's beaten Donald Trump... I know that he is ready for this campaign." Sen. Elizabeth Warren Warren also transitioned from a steadfast defender of President Biden's mental acuity during the 2024 campaign to a more nuanced stance post-election, acknowledging the complexities surrounding his cognitive fitness. Post-election: In an interview on the Talk Easy podcast with Sam Fragoso, released on April 20, Warren was asked if she regretted asserting Biden's sharpness. She responded, "I said what I believed to be true." When pressed on whether she observed any decline from 2021 to 2024, she stated, "Not when I said that." She elaborated, "He was sharp. He was on his feet. I saw him at live events. I had meetings with him a couple of times." Fragoso then challenged that "on his feet" was faint praise and Warren conceded, "Fair enough. Fair enough. Look, the question is what are we going to do now?" What she said in 2024: In multiple appearances throughout early and mid-2024, Warren publicly defended President Biden's mental fitness. For instance, during a July 2024 interview, she stated, "The man is sharp. The man knows what he's talking about. He does the job." She consistently emphasized her confidence in his capabilities, dismissing concerns about his age and cognitive health George Clooney Clooney transitioned from strongly defending Biden's cognitive fitness in October 2023, to publicly expressing deep concerns about Biden's mental acuity and urging him not to run in a high-profile July 2024 op-ed, and finally acknowledging after the election a specific troubling encounter with Biden—an event that occurred before he published his piece that helped lead to Biden's exit from the race. Post-election: In a statement provided to the Washington Post on May 14, Clooney confirmed: "The anecdote described in the book about the former president not recognizing me is unfortunately accurate... In hindsight, I have to acknowledge the episode troubled me more than I let on at the time." What he said in July 2024 (Op-ed, written after the incident above): In a widely discussed op-ed published in The New York Times on July 10, 2024—written after the debate and incident in which Biden failed to recognize him—Clooney wrote: "I love Joe Biden—as a senator, as vice president, and as president. I consider him a friend, and I believe in him. Believe in his character. Believe in his morals. But the one battle he cannot win is the fight against time. None of us can. It's devastating to say it, but the Joe Biden I was with three weeks ago at the fundraiser was not the Joe 'big F-ing deal' Biden of 2010. He wasn't even the Joe Biden of 2020. He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate." David Axelrod Axelrod, a longtime Obama adviser, initially questioned Biden's wisdom in continuing his campaign in November 2023, issuing a notably cool statement on the president's decision to run the following year. But after the election loss, he significantly sharpened his criticism, openly confirming Biden's cognitive decline and labeling Biden's decision to run again "irresponsible." Post-election: In a conversation with NPR's Morning Edition on May 14, Axelrod said: "It was an irresponsible decision on [Biden's] part, and frankly, on his family's part... They adapted his schedule to his declining condition. The anecdotes [in the book] are troubling." What he said in 2023: Axelrod posted on X (formerly Twitter) on November 5, 2023, following weak Biden poll numbers: "Only @JoeBiden can make this decision. If he continues to run, he will be the nominee... What he needs to decide is whether that is wise; whether it's in his best interest or the country's." You can read the rest. There may have been some local Ds that were worried but no elected D was concerned. mspart

  5. I wrote this in another thread but if I’m Dake, it’s a sumo match. Yes, that makes me feel dirty. Dake can beat Zahid if he can keep it close the first three minutes and scores some 1pt moves in the second period. Zahid was falling apart at the end of their previous match. His tank continues to be very suspect. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. Part of Trump's strategy is to deal in a high volume of lies to keep everyone chasing their tails while he is on to the next set of lies. Did he every get the cat and dog crisis in Ohio taken care of? He must have since he doesn't bring it up anymore.

  7. My understanding is that they are following established procedure. If Snyder were to not give it a go, Zilmer wins by forfeit. Zilmer earned that spot, just as Snyder earned his own spot. If they were to change the established procedure at this point, they would be opening themselves up to litigation and hard feelings from Z. They can change it for next quad (maybe even next year), but my guess is they are stuck with this system for the time being. (I made it through the whole post without saying "withdraws" or "pulls out.")

  8. John C. Calhoun was a horrible person who was a political giant in the first half of the 19th century. There is much to despise about him, but this 1828 quote sounds eerily familiar: “Our government is deeply disordered; its credit is impaired; its debt increasing; its expenditures extravagant and wasteful; its disbursements without efficient accountability; and its taxes (for duties are but taxes) enormous, unequal, and oppressive to the great producing classes of the country.” - John C. Calhoun I'm not looking at this from a left/right perspective. I'm noting that many Americans were complaining about the same stuff 200 years ago.

  20. There are many ways to look at how a match order should go... - Aura/Prestige - Poundage - Potential Excitement - Actual Excitement - Points scored - Theoretical Drama - Actual Drama Generally speaking Aura/Prestige is the criteria that will be looked at the most for match order. There is no other option than Valencia - Dake at 86 KG, in that regards. There just isn't. - There are exceptions such as the POTUS intending to swoop in after the first match. After that, Poundage is generally the one most used, because it has typically always been that way. That puts us at Captain America Jr - Hilger at 125 KG as the final match. I am oddly okay with it being this way. I don't think it would be the final match of the day. I still think that 86 KG will be the final match of the day, as the most likely scenario due to it being Best of Three (92 KG has a decent chance as well). If we are talking Potential Excitement, we're looking at ending on Johnny D - Duke at 70 KG. You have Brute Force Youth against the scrambling ability of Johnny D, who is up at 70 KG for only the second time ever (the first being the Open). Duke, a HS Senior just beat the 149lb and 157lb NCAA Champions at WTT. That's fckn nuts, guys. If we are talking Actual Excitement, we're looking at Mesenbrink-Carr at 74 KG, despite it being a blow-out (expected by me), their matches are always fire. If we are talking about Points Scored, I don't see a way we don't end at Vito - Jax at 61 KG. This has 25.5 as a total match points Vegas line per match (I might have made that up). If you were to look at Theoretical Drama, then Thiccclay-Barr at 92 KG should be the final match. Barr has made a living this season on breaking people. Thiccclay is unbreakable. What if during Match 2, Thiccclay fades and Barr steals it? That makes Match 3 EXTREMELY interesting. Historically speaking there has been hours between Match 1 and Match 2, but they start the Match 3s immediately after the Match 2s complete. If we are talking about Snyder... I mean Actual Drama, then it's Snyder - ZIllmer at 97 KG.

  22. This is my best guess at who our team will be and I'm assuming Snyder finds a way to wrestle... Does anyone think a high schooler is going to punch their ticket onto the team? 57- Lee / Lilledahl = Lee in 2 although lilledahl gives him a run on his feet and they are somewhat close but Spencer's top game wins him the matches 61- Vito / Forrest = Vito in 3 and im going to say Forrest sneaks one out because of his funkiness and the Vito wins aren't close 65- McKenna / Woods = McKenna in 3 but Woods' recent improvement continues the upward trajectory 70- Yianni / Duke = Yianni in 2 fun matches because all of Yianni's matches are fun plus I think Duke might have a little emotion in this one given he grew up wrestling probably idolizing Yianni a bit as a fellow NY'er 74- MM / Carr = MM in 2 blow outs 79- Wick / Haines = Haines in 2 just because of his offense 86- Valencia / Dake = Dake in 3 although I could see Valencia nabbing the first one and just not having the gas tank to go 3 bouts in the day with Dake but who knows... this could be a toss up 92- Hidlay / Barr = Hidlay in 2 since it seems like his time and he's going to be the savvy vet but wouldn't be shocked by the opposite result 97- Snyder / Zilmer = Snyder in 3, he drops one due to recent distractions... 125- Hendrickson / Hillger = Hendrickson in 2 and continues his heater without being in a whole lot of danger of losing either match

  39. As a casual gamer I've thought this for a while now. Wrestling is perfectly set up to translate to common gaming mechanics. Movement, button combinations for offense/defense, combos, power-ups, character stats, skill trees... not to mention gameplay modes like Season, head-to-head, tourneys, time trials, etc. It'd be difficult to develop from a software perspective, and would need gamers/developers/wrestling experts, but if it was done well it could be REALLY cool.

  44. 57- Lee / Lilledahl = Lee in 2 by domination me thinks. His defense is elite and when he scores his top game is suffocating. 61- Vito / Forrest = Vito in 2. It's all a mental game with Vito, and his health of course. When he is on his game he is one of the best wrestlers in the world. 65- McKenna / Woods = McKenna in 2. His experience will be the edge, only way I see Woods winning is if he runs away with it early. 70- Yianni / Duke = Yianni in 2. Again with these NY guys its mental. If he blocks out the noise, Yianni coasts to 2 wins. He's savvy, experienced, and every bit as strong as Duke is and then some. 74- MM / Carr = MM in 2. Carr has not looked great but he's game planning for one guy and that's tough to bet against. That being said that one guy is Mitchell Mesenbrink who will, with this win, start his streak of multiple world team representations. 79- Wick / Haines = Wick in 3. Eh. 86- Valencia / Dake = Dake in 2. Been a huge fan of Valencia since he was in HS and wouldn't mind being wrong here but Dake is inevitable and will get his way. 92- Hidlay / Barr = Hidlay in 2. Josh Barr is a second half athlete. I just wanted to say that. I've seen someone call Trent a "little Yazdani". I'll take him. 97- Snyder / Zilmer = Snyder in 2. Just wrestle. 125- Hendrickson / Hillger = Capt. America in 2. Mustache, no stache, Hulk smash, Lakers in 5.
