  1. Unbelievable, gents. We've made it to our FOURTH year of doing this. This will be our official thread as we start to put together the league. My plan for right now is we will be having a $25 entry fee. We will pay out as follows, team trophies like NCAAs so the top 4 get paid something. We cap the league at 15 players as always. The entry fees should total $375 ($25 x 15 players). 1st Place: $200 2nd Place: $100 3rd Place: $50 4th Place: $25 (money back) HERE ARE LAST YEAR'S ENTRANTS AND THEIR STATUS AS OF NOW @Antitroll2828 @JVStateChamp - confirmed wants to play @Perry - confirmed wants to play Me. The Kid. - confirmed wants to play @flyingcement @lu_alum @RockLobster @Gage @MizzouFan01 - confirmed wants to play @steamboat_charlie @Idaho @MPhillips - he got Biblical in response to the Mark of the Beast going onto the waiting list, so I think he's in @Truzzcat - confirmed wants to play @jajensen09 @nhs67 - confirmed wants to play My policy this year remains the same as last year: Prior year entrants have first dibs, but if I don't hear from you by a certain time (TBD) before the Draft (TBD also but has to be done by Tuesday night before NCAAs, because I fly out Wednesday morning) we will go to the wait list. Also, if you don't pay by that same time given to prior entrants, you lose your spot unless you get it paid before it's filled by someone off the wait list. The draft will be held using these forums and a Zoom call (Zoom was fun last year for those that joined!) to try to make it go as fast as possible. I'll hammer out the draft details in a later post. The rules remain the same: you draft one person per weight class, plus you get one "Wild Card" which can be any weight. The Draft will be snake style. HERE IS OUR CURRENT WAIT LIST, WHICH WILL BE FIRST COME FIRST SERVE @666 @BruceyB

  8. Watching the match i did not have that impression. He was not wrestling for a major or tech but was wrestling to win, else why did he step on the mat, and it was close. You could say exactly the same for Starocci.

I think you said it’s not his job to enforce the law. Your caring is selective and solely politically motivated. Save the rah rah boss.

  13. It's a pretty good comparison, and tough to make a pick between Bassett and Kolat. Both have wide-open styles as high schoolers that leave them exposed, but it doesn't matter, since their offensive output is so high that they overwhem(ed) their opponents. Both are famous for training like absolute madmen. Both dominated PA high school wrestling, making wreckage of past state champs and medalists. Both also had freestyle success. Both cadet world champs. Both had success against college opposition in high school. Kolat took 3rd and 4th at Midlands when it was the best tournament of the year, including taking out NCAA finalist Shawn Charles. Bassett has won a couple smaller college tournaments, including one with Bouzakis in it, and has a freestyle win over NCAA champ Ashnault. Both are human. The main chink in Kolat's armor is his 4-4 draw as a senior to Chris Bono at the Dapper Dan. (He went up a weight at Senior Nationals the next weekend to avenge the loss, but Bono didn't make the finals.) Got thumped at OTTs by Kendall Cross (future gold medalist). Bassett has more chinks -- teched by Kolozik, lost at U20s, split matches with Zepeda -- but also lives in an era where there's more opportunities to find the top competition. In college, Kolat made the national finals as a true freshman, taking out Iowa's undefeated defending champ Troy Steiner in the semis. Bassett's true freshman year? Yet to be seen. Both are trailblazers. The country had never seen a high schooler taking on and beating college-level competition when Kolat did it; now it's more common. But Bo's shown leadership qualities in his own right, albeit more by force of personality. (Kolat was always more of a recluse.) Of course, wrestling's come a long way in the 35 years between the two, not just in technique but in access to information (internet, etc), so I don't doubt that Bassett as a high school junior is ahead of Kolat as a high school junior. But I don't think it's fair to factor that in, as the opposite would be true if they swapped the eras they grew up in. Bottom line? I'd call it a draw.

  16. Its probably within this window of 95 dual meets, note 2 ties. A loss each in 1966 & 1959 seasons but don't know when. If wrestlingstats.com were working we could look up the individual duals to see where the losses occurred and if todays tie criteria would have dictated a win.

  17. On the contrary. The original point of this was made moot when he was confirmed. Then you jump to a conclusion that of course is wrong about what he is drinking at a conference. Who drinks bourbon or whiskey while in a working meeting, especially government representatives? Did you ever think of that? You didn't think to do a little more looking at it. You jumped to your conclusion, and I love to say this, without any evidence at all. You just said it. Bigbrog's attention span is on that. mspart

  18. Roderick's streak had two draws 82-0-2. The longest win streak inside it was only 37. 1958-1959 9-1 (1 win streak) 1959-1960 14-0 (15) 1960-1961 8-0 (23) 1961-1962 12-0 (35) 1962-1963 11-0-1 (win streak snapped 47 unbeaten) 1963-1964 10-0-1 (58 unbeaten) 1964-1965 14-0 (72) 1965-1966 13-1 (unbeaten streak broken at 84) Iowa also had an 84 match unbeaten streak under Brands 83-0-1. Inside that streak there was a 69 match winning streak (3rd longest in D1). 2007-2008 21-1 (14 consecutive wins) 2008-2009 24-0 (38) 2009-2010 23-0 (61) 2010-2011 15-0-1 (Win streak broken at 69, 77 unbeaten) 2011-2012 14-4 (unbeaten streak broken at 84)

  19. Interesting to note that the National Wrestling Hall of Fame bio of Myron Roderick states that his OSU teams once produced 84 consecutive duals without a loss. I guess that means there could have been a tie in there, which makes it different than wins in a row. And that is supported by his overall dual recoerd of 140-10-7.

  20. Just the opposite, Spratley grew up in Eufala, OK and moved to Plano, TX his later years of high school. Jamison grew up in Durant, OK and moved to Plano, TX in his later years of high school. So I would say they are both true Oklahomans!

  25. Why are you posters so dimwitted? Musk was never an electric car making genius. He was part of investment group that bought the Tesla company. Musk isn't remotely close to being a genius. But he was lucky enough to be born rich. And likes to pretend he's far, far smarter than he actually is - something he and Trump have in common.

  26. The only way he isn't dominant is in the "imagine what a five time champ would like sense". He's gonna have the flashiest cred in the history of NCAA wrestling, but is only gonna get brief polite mentions in GOAT discussions.

  34. Ah, yes, because it clearly takes such mental fortitude to dismiss centuries of philosophical inquiry, cultural heritage, and personal solace as nothing more than a crutch for the 'weak.' Your arrogance is only surpassed by your ignorance. It's ironic that a progressive would find people with religious views mentally weak.

  35. So you don't care to back up your "facts"? Then you are correct, we have nothing more to talk about because you are not participating. I am simply asking you to back up your assertions but you can't or won't so they are not true. You don't know what you are talking about but you want everyone to think you do. Put up or shut up. My guess is you'll shut up or keep on yammering on like no one noticed your fraud. mspart
