  4. Yes BS detector on that headline. I couldn't vet it when the story broke. I assume condoms are part of and not the entire package of the funding. However it is documented that the USAID spent $60M in contraceptives and condoms globally, with 89% of funds directed to Africa, 9% Asia and 2% to Latin America. As a U.S. Government agency, USAID receives its funding from Congress. https://www.usaid.gov/sites/default/files/2024-09/C-and-C-FY2023.pdf And the ridiculous government spending is reality... its sad we have to consider this might be true. This is the government that spent $28 million on licensing fees for a lush green camouflage pattern for the Afghan National Army uniforms. (a desert place!) $2M to create holograms of dead comedians... $3M for shrimp to run on a treadmill... $5M on how to ride a bike...

  8. She was already agitated before her questioning began. Is it too much to ask that the Senators, the most august quorum of legislators in the world, act like it? Probing questions are fine. Screeching is very unprofessional. Same with gotcha questions. Just asking for them to be serious. mspart

  10. I'm responding to this. I'm not attempting to shift anyone's conversation or narrative with my last comment. I don't want to hear people deflect from the context of criminal illegal entry with callouts to the difference between a visa overstay and illegal entry. I'm satisfied with the transparency on deporting illegal aliens. I like how the government is communicating their priority and progress. First: Violent Criminals and Threats to National Security Second: Recently Arrived Illegal Crossers Third: Visa Overstays and Other Immigration Violators With collateral enforcement across for violators encountered. ---- I 100% support legal immigration and streamlining it. If I'm king and you are already in the country illegally, your current immigration request is auto declined. Go to the backend of the legal request line, and remain outside of the USA while you do. I know there are exceptions to this... grey areas... but its largely black and white and is effectively being addressed in broad strokes.

  17. It's a hard read, man. McCarthy thought punctuation was optional, plus he uses words that were pretty obscure even a hundred years ago sometimes! Great book, but honestly I can't recommend it unless you have a serious commitment to it. It's literally hard to read. But Judge Holden's monologues were all legendary.

  21. Athletes competing in both football and wrestling used to be common. I think it fell by the wayside in the mid-1970s; Iowa (I think just before Gable took over as HC) allowed Greg Stevens (NCAA 2nd) and John Bowlsby (3rd) to play football in 1975 and both were injured and missed the 1975-76 season. Wrestling coaches took notice.

  28. But they have always said they base it on “total resume,” and that the resume is constantly changing as the season goes on. That’s exactly what happened last year with Jack Maida when he dropped like 10 spots or something without wrestling, because guys he had beaten took a bunch of losses (which I agreed with). So pretty much same situation here. I think this was an oversight and they will correct it (as long as Block doesn’t beat Beau Bartlett).

  30. I was gonna try to give them some benefit of the doubt and say “maybe the guys below him have no resume either.” But it didn’t take long to prove that theory wrong. The guy one spot below him - Dylan Cedeno of UVA - is 7-0 with wins over #20 (Scott), #28 (Hanna), and #30 (Miranda). Zero reason for Block to be above him. They have to be giving him credit for Rhodes’ win over Tagg, but even that when combined with the losses shouldn’t put him above Cedeno. The next guy, Jayden Scott of UNC, has wins over #13 (Schwartz) and #26 (Treanor), and has only lost to guys in the top 20. You got something against the ACC, @Jon_Kozak ?

  37. You're being delusional. Let me repeat. Cartels are business enterprises. They have one goal, "make money." Wars are expensive. They do not have the funds or the backing to run a military campaign. Within in hours the US would strike their production sites leading to pure chaos within their structure. They would be financially bled out.

  38. From what I can tell, the 300K number comes from an Inspector General Report in 2024. It appears, to me, that what happened was a lot of unaccompanied minors were released to sponsors in the US without a scheduled court date. So they are living in the US but are not working their way through any kind of process to either become a permanent resident or be deported. YMMV on how much difference you see between "missing" and "unmonitored" in this context. "Located" also seems pretty ambiguous. I can't find much on this beyond the TV hit that Faulkner did stating Tom Homan told her as much. How are they defining it? Based on how I interpret the IG report, "located" could mean we sent a notice to appear to the address given when they were released. It could be something more than that. It is good these kids are being located and make their way through the system. Hopefully there are other reforms to improve communication between DHS and HHS to prevent the ball dropping like this in the future. Here is the PDF IG report: https://www.oig.dhs.gov/sites/default/files/assets/2024-08/OIG-24-46-Aug24.pdf

  41. It was the year of our lord 2021 and no 197 had separated from the pack to lead the tribe to the promised land. The false prophet known as Buchanan was the favorite going into the season against the babe swaddled in orange and black freshman cloth. But lo he was defeated many times for the babe fired on all pistols and brought forth a six hunnid sixty five pound deadlift baby. And now the prophecy is doomed to repeat itself for 197 is the forbidden wasteland of unrecognized heavyweight talent.

Like 20% hair cut to achieve objectives. Something based on results to increase or decrease the allocations for the current and future years. Show me where the money went, show me what it accomplished, fully auditable... There is a reason this will take manpower to go through the risks and mitigations...

  44. you're allowed to talk about Jesus just like you're allowed to talk about the weather...or anything, for that matter. here' my two cents... a lot of wrestlers - particularly good ones, particularly on good teams that have a proven track record - subscribe to religion or a 'religious way' not because of the allegories or stories, but because wrestling is tough both mentally and physically and in pursuit of being the best you can be, making the right decisions is crucial. i.e. - you want to be good, do the right things. and it works. or at least doesn't hurt. just a theory.

It was a revival convention held in the parking lot of a local fine dining restaurant and when they found him in a glassy eyed trance repeating himself in ancient tongues "Yo quiero Taco Bell.
