As I recall, ISU didn't have a spot for Gable, so no betrayal. Same with Brands - got passed over for the HC spot for Zalesky. Cael was a different story - pushed out Bobby Douglas, left for better recruiting grounds and cash, and took his ISU recruits with him. That's a true dagger in the back. Cael is better than everyone else at everything and that includes betrayal.4 points

At least one thing they did was not allow a horrific law to go into place that would perpetuate the current border crisis and codify it into law. They stopped other ill conceived bills from moving forward. They passed an immigration bill that would actually reduce illegal immigration. They named new buildings. They brought to light the corruptness of the FBI. Impeached Mayorkis. There's lots of stuff. mspart2 points

Well if we assume (and it may be true) that China was dumping products at 30% under world market price (under our cost) then a 30% tariff might make it fair trade thus allowing US producers to compete and therfore not costing tax payers.2 points

Unless the House objects, which is in R hands. This is why split government is the way to go. Bad ideas don't get through. And this was a BAD idea. Codify what has been going on at the border is no solution. mspart2 points

Aitmukhan hasn't competed below 97kg since worlds last year. Before this thread moved here, other Iranians were commenting on how huge Aitmukhan looked at 97kg at U20s. Seems he took a while to mature physically. That could be why he jumped levels so fast last year--and could mean we won't see him at 92kg again.2 points

Obviously these are subject to change but some other stats I found interesting about team's starting lineups. Oldest teams in terms of experience (I gave 4 years for seniors, 3 for jrs., 2 for so., 1 for fr.) 1. Brown (37 years) - 7 srs, 3 jrs. 2. LIU (35 years) - 7 sr, 2 jr., 1 fr. 2. Well, to take it at what you said, someone has to be given the power to make the decision. Who should that be and who gets to decide on that person? It goes round and round. mspart2 points

125: Lilledahl if he doesn't RS. If he does, the weight is wide open. Why not Ramos? I don't think Richie Figs runs the gauntlet again. 133: Bouzakis. I think he has a chip on his shoulder and ready to break thru. Training with Mendez daily helps make that happen. 141: Mendez: beat Alirez at BTS. Heck of a match. Does it again. 149: Van Ness: comes back better than ever over Henson. 157: Shapiro. 165: Mesenbrink. 174: O'Toole over Haines. Gets revenge, just like he had done to Carr previously. 184: Starocci. Makes history over Keck. Must watch match. 197: Cardenas. Ferrari is everyone's pick but I think it's been too much time off and at this level, results can be in the margins. 285: kerkvliet Way too early. Some alternative picks. I reserve and revel in the right to be wrong.1 point

I think it is not unique, but it is an outlier. For example, a booster recently agreed to pay what is believed to be north of $1mm for the top softball pitcher to transfer to Texas Tech (https://www.on3.com/nil/news/texas-tech-red-raiders-softball-nil-collective-to-pay-nijaree-canady-upwards-of-1-million/) from 2x defending champs, Stanford. But that is a huge outlier for softball. And I think $500k is an outlier for wrestling. BTW, I say agreed above because I saw this story today. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/41438172/matthew-sluka-nil-dispute-unlv-hinges-verbal-offer What is notable is that it is a QB and the verbal offer was only $100k. So far all he has gotten is $3k. So this idea that there are contracts and athletes can sue is not always true.1 point

This isn't rocket science. NONE of us have time to investigate the legitimacy of every conspiracy theory and claim out there. Best thing to do is find a reputable news source that is widely recognized as not being on the fringe, like MSNBC or Fox News. Personally, I go with Reuters and BBC for most of my news. A good sign that they are reputable, without actually looking it up? The stories are a lot more boring, in general, than the distortions that the fringe media provides. Real news typically isn't very exciting or scary. If you're one of those people getting riled up by the news every day, you're probably listening to Fox, MSNBC, or something even worse.1 point

I have been dreaming about a Ghassempour/DT match for years now. In Iran, after DT dominated Yazdani, there was lots of debate about sending Ghassempour instead of Yazdani. I have a hard time predicting the result, but tend towards predicting an upset by Ghassempour against DT. Let's hope the match actually happens. there are a few issues Will the Albanians issue visas to the Iranians this time? Will Sad be allowed by WTT to wrestle Will DT get time off from his job to wrestle If all of the above happens, I hope the brackets work out that we see all three wrestle each other. That would mean all three would have to be on one side of the bracket1 point

Yes this is why the bill did not pass. Would anyone vote FOR a bill like that? It codifies what is already taking place at the border. And general consensus is what is taking place at the border is wrong and needs to be fixed. mspart1 point

WR - Who governs this? Is it a lie when the Federal Government puts it out there? Is it a lie when a think tank puts it out there? Is it a lie when an academic puts it out there? Is it a lie when an individual puts it out there? Who is going to be the one to say this is acceptable and this over here is not acceptable? And this is the problem with constructing such a mechanism. Who is it that makes this determination and what are his/her priorities? Would you have a known liar be that person? Would you have someone known to be a straight shooter be that person? And how do we make sure that type of person is the person with the power to say what is verboten and what is good? Let's think about this with real world things we have lived through. 1) Covid - Those that said having covid was just as good as getting the shot were censored. The fact is that their position is true. So who had the power to censor that truth and call it mis or disinformation? 2) 51 "intelligence" officers wrote a letter saying the Hunter Biden laptop was Russia disinformation. This was held as true by most in the media (excepting the NY Post of course) and all naysayers were censored. The fact is that these 51 people were wrong and knew they were wrong. They spread misinformation that was useful to who? It must have been useful to someone or it would have been called out. Those that called it out were censored. So who had the power to censor the truth and all those that spoke for the truth? You can see that these real world situations should give everyone pause when suggesting that misinformation can be regulated. Sure it can, but who defines what is misinformation and who decides to censor it? You have to be very careful when you pick this person or committee. mspart1 point

Who decides? One man's truth and fact is dubbed by the rich and powerful (i.e. government) as misinformation. Just read nursery rhymes and Aesop's fables to learn about this phenomenon. The child who had the temerity to notice the emperor has no clothes in The Emperor's New Clothes story would certainly have been labelled a purveyor of misinformation if the Emperor and his ministers had the power to silence the child. "Reigning in misinformation" is as terrifying to a free man as "no one should have the means of resisting government authority (i.e. no 2nd amendment)". I am against reigning in misinformation because no amount of misinformation can ever be as dangerous and having the power to reign in misinformation.1 point
