The only relationship between taxes and deficit and debt is a positive one. I mean "positive" in the mathematical correlation sense and not in the sense of "a good thing". The government collects more tax revenue than it ever has before yet the deficit/debt is accelerating. Therefore, until those in charge behave as if deficits, inflation, etc. matter by passing only balanced budgets then I don't care about it either. Arguing about whether 1 trillion or 1.2 trillion annual deficit is "more ethical" is ludicrous and I will not engage with those "eminent Econ 101 geniuses" stating that it does. If the budget is balanced then I am completely comfortable with paying my fair share of the federal taxes - about 1/330,000.000 of the total amount required. But the government has broken faith and now the only rational response is to keep as much as my own money as I can and to keep supporting whomever wants to let me keep it the easiest. This is a form of game theory. If you know the other side is playing by different rules then the only rational response for survival is to modify your behavior first. Econ 101 has nothing to do with it, obviously. This is a matter of human nature, power politics, and control. So, First - Balanced budget, Fed Government revenue capped at 15% of GDP, 0% inflation target. THEN we can talk about whom to tax and how to tax them to secure the necessary revenue. But you leftie econ geniuses who think "give the government the money and shut up" is a valid economic theory should tender a proposal. So, if we aren't talking about economics but about electoral politics two strategies are emerging: One side is trying to give people others people's money via housing credits, loan forgiveness, etc (i.e. raising gov spending). The other side is proposing to let you keep more of your own money via targeted tax relief (i.e. lowering gov revenue). Both are playing con games that don't matter until we have . . . wait for it . . . Balanced budget, Fed Government revenue capped at 15% of GDP, 0% inflation target.4 points

This is really good. Maybe America will wake up and realize the country is more important your personal feelings. Voting your feelings gets you a Venezuela or North Korea. Maybe a couple more wars. Wide open borders. Every city will be a Springfield OHIO.2 points

He's long had this reputation and Askren has also talked about the kid being an instigator. And lets also keep an eye on his future teammate, PJ Duke. Duke is a stu and strong like bull, but I've seen at least a couple instances of wrestling/cheapshotting after whistles and out of bounds. Hopefully these are isolated instances. Kid is very very good.2 points

Another current (today) example. Decided to watch the noon top of the hour news to see how the latest info presented. Using the Hulu start over feature makes it easy to view multiple news channels. CNN was hosted by Amanpour and had a guest. Within 3 to 5 minutes (there was way more than 3 to 5 minutes of new news to cover) she asked the guest if we had a gun problem. The guest pushed back she was not dettered. Now ask yourself why would she go there, is it to keep her viewers triggered (pun intended)? But what new law do we need? If the rifle were actually a fully automatic AK47 then that would be illegal for most everyone to possess. Given the serial number was filed off it would be illegal for any to purchase or possess this rifle. Given Routh is a convicted felon it is illegal for him to purchase or possess any firearm. Fortunately it is not a AK47 but a SKS else the barrel might not have been extending thru the fence. Maybe we need a new law that says it is illegal to poke a rifle barrel from the public side more than 1" thru the private side of a golf course exterior fence. Yeah that would've stopped him. Oh and referring to the Butler attempt she used the phrase "get him," like sure this is what the MSM is thinking and hoping but I'm shocked any said it out loud. She had lots of things to talk about why did she go back to the old everyday talking points?2 points

the way some people talk you shouldn't compete if your not automatically on the team. I really respect Zach Sanders because he competed for a long time and never got anywhere internationally, and some dufus on twitter told him he should quit, and his response was just "why?"1 point

Nobody, including Biden, wants to deal with the crying that would happen from either raising taxes or cutting spending. There is all this talk about how nobody can afford groceries, yet many people (who are not rich at all) are shelling out thousands for Taylor swift tickets and designer bags, overpriced uber eats delivery, a million different streaming services, etc. I don't buy at all that things are difficult right now for the middle class-in fact I think we are spending out of control and selling out future generations so people today can live beyond their means.1 point

He absolutely needs to keep competing. The guy is great to have on the ladder. Fix is almost always the runner-up in pretty much every tournament that he enters, so he's an ideal alternate. If something happens with the starter and they need to put Fix in, he's very likely going to at least bring home a silver medal.1 point

For his Alpha Certification the weight class he weighed in at was 165lbs. What that means is that he weighed in between 157.1 - 165.0. See above. He was legitimately already weighinf 165.0 or less whenever Penn State did their Alpha Certifications.1 point

\ The Democratcy Ambassador (i.e. the STAZI snitch on your neighbor who thinks unapproved thoughts) page from the despicable Michigan Secretary of State is beclowning her own organization with pictures of patriots displaying the American flag in an, um, unAmerican manner. Probably just pathetic ignorance rather than willful disrespect but unfortunate nevertheless.1 point

Interesting concept, a budget surplus. How do we get there? Spend less than you bring in. Current formula is to spend way more than they bring in. mspart1 point

The push happened after Messenbrink, for the umpteenth time, decided to continue wrestling after they were out of bounds or after the whistle had blown. He does this all the time not just with JB. It's super annoying and deserved a head shove imo.1 point

Whiting at 165, I doubt it will be necessary but I don’t doubt he can make it. Not sure on Roberts, just heard he has a hurt shoulder. We’ll be much better off if it’s not serious. I think if they felt that Salazar was for sure going to handle Nelson, Salazar would’ve been named a captain. Instead it’s Askey and Vombaur. Salazar is still able to transfer in season as long as he does it before wrestling attached. I think that wrestle off is much closer than people anticipate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

It's complicated. The Jordan comparison is interesting. I do think that Burroughs has some similar uber-competitive traits which are a big part of his success, and that that includes using perceived slights as motivation. I'll also say that I'm not a giant Burroughs fan, I was rooting for Marsteller, whose travails I find compelling. And I'm not crazy about some things about Burroughs -- the head clubbing, not a gracious loser, etc. I also disagree with the notion that he is the GOAT over John Smith. But nothing he does is anywhere near being outside of a normal and acceptable range in the extraordinarily competitive and high stakes world he inhabits. To boo him or show anything but the highest respect for his achievements and for his life is bizarre to me. He is not a complete jackass like Michael Jordan, who has no ability to control himself even years after retiring from competition (someone mentioned cringing at Burroughs statement about Starocci's knee; if you want to cringe yourself into a seizure watch and try to make your way to the end of the absolute embarrassment that is Jordan's Hall of Fame speech). He has always been completely candid about the zero sum game that is competition for the one spot on a world team, and he makes no bones about his view that he has to beat people on the mat to provide for his family (he's an earnest family man). This to me is way more valuable to the fan to hear than platitudes. He trains like hell, he fights through major injuries, and he supplements his physical skills with as good a mental game as there is in sports. Plus he's further contributed to the sport as a knowledgeable, insightful, and well-expressed announcer who can adapt to a range of broadcast partners from Jim Gibbons to Cormier. And I have no way of knowing for sure, but it's possible that his success in the early 2010s helped contribute to a surge of top wrestlers of color in recent years. If he wants to be a little ungracious and not stay above the fray with Messenbrink's antics (a guy I love watching wrestle) and be a little over the top in his interview with the it's me vs the entire institution of Penn State wrestling when it was mainly one guy who was way over the line, I got no problem with that if it helped produce the viewing pleasure of the clinic that Burroughs put on this weekend at age 36 against a strong field.1 point

Hardly. He lolly gagged his azz out of the car. He was a belligerent punk from second 0 of the stop. I posted a vid from a side angle showing him getting out as slowly as he humanly could. Those that will disagree…. Will disagree. The cop was also in the wrong too….. but to exonerate this entitled punk is wrong too. If he wasn’t in the nfl this wouldn’t even be on the local news.1 point

He was not complying with the order to exit the vehicle. He delayed as much as reasonably possible while talking on a cell phone. He was non-compliant for that duration. When the doors were opened, he put his leg out of the door. But made no effort to get out in any way. None. Watch the video again. He wasn't using his leg to stand up, he was using it as leverage to remain in the vehicle. (Ask any wrestler, without the leg as a point of support, it would have been easy for the police to pull him out.) One officer decided enough was enough, and yanked him out despite his non-compliance. That was not a easy task, this was a fit top NFL player... who then responded, in shock, "Damn..." Watch it again. It's not difficult to see. Hill was not voluntarily exiting the vehicle. He was trying his best to stay in the vehicle and delay.1 point

Get over this one. A crime is committed when someone breaks the law. Those that do so are criminals. Try to use your lawyer schmawyer bullshit to try to misdirect the simple words of the english language into lawyer speak. Doesn't change a single thing when we aren't in court.1 point

Not really. He is a big time pro football player. He is late to get to the football stadium. He really doesn't have time for this frivolous stuff. So he told the officer just give my ticket and bro don't knock on my window like that. Maybe he will learn something from all this. Maybe the policeman could learn something also. There have been a good number of cops who have been shot at stops like this over the last several years.1 point

Impaired thinking might cause one to reflect that pointing out that a hostile media makes no similar claim that Mark Penn is in any way connected to, or working for, Donald Trump, as approval of the media. It’s quite the opposite. It’s saying your own teammates aren’t saying what you say. Mark Penn is a dedicated democrat, but he’s more honest than most.1 point

Mark Penn calls for investigation Mark Penn, former advisor to Bill and Hillary Clinton, has also called for an internal investigation by ABC News into the perceived bias of the debate moderators. Penn suggested an independent review of the moderators' texts and emails to determine if there was any effort to "rig the outcome" of the debate. He criticised the media coverage as "laughable" and highlighted the need for impartiality in future debates. https://www.msn.com/en-in/news/world/debate-fallout-trump-accuses-abc-news-of-bias-as-harris-campaign-pushes-for-rematch-mark-penn-calls-for-investigation/ar-AA1quaxP1 point
