  1. Great to see this. Any time an academy can get someone of this quality on their staff it’s a big gain for them. Spent two years wrestling at USNA as a wrestling room dummy in the mid 70s, but had HOF’er Ed Peery as HC and Captain Lloyd Keaser as AC as he prepped for the 76 Olympics. Only way for academies to compete is initial recruiting and coaching. Obviously no transfers coming in, and can’t imagine how they can utilize NIL to recruit - all we have to recruit is Top Gun 1 and 2.

  4. Here we go AGAIN!! Your "logic" has to work both ways...that is where you are so blind! The truly bad guys (Humas) are responsible for the current situation...you continually trying to paint a different picture is flawed on so many levels. Let's stick with your logic...shouldn't all Israel's be blinded by rage and want to kill Humas??

  7. The idea that the Jews and Arabs would live in peace if the Palestinians weren’t displaced in 48 is dead wrong. This issue exists because Islam will not tolerate Jews living on what they think is Muslim land. There has been much worse displacement/killing of various Arab/Muslim groups to each other over the years and the same sort of dynamic between those groups is not like what exists between Israel and the Palestinians.

  9. Yet, you only apply international law to one side there UB. And you fail to actually assign blame. If Hamas did not do Oct 7, this would not be happening. Yes, you remember, the butchering of 1100 Israelis, some in the most heinous fashion. If Hamas did not kill the Israelis, Hamas would not be at actual war with Israel. The fact that they use the Gazans as human shields (also against international law, but ignored by sympathists) is what gets a lot of those folks killed. When Israel says evacuate and Hamas says don't, then Hamas has the blame, not the Israelis. Israel has tried to avoid innocents to the greatest extent possible. Yet it is not enough for Hamas nor their sympathizers. This is 100% the fault of Hamas. It doesn't matter how many they recruit because all of Hamas has targets on their backs as well they should. mspart

  32. Definitely a fair question, and it's actually much worse than I would've even guessed digging into it a little. Looking just at seed/place difference, NC State was at -22 in this year's tourney. This is the worst mark in the last 10 years of the tournament (possibly all time, but I stopped looking after 10 years). Beyond that, NC State was last place in this metric each of the past 3 seasons (-22 in 2024, -11 in 2023, -11 in 2022). Obvious conclusions here are that they're either being overseeded, or completely falling apart at the end of the year. Probably a bit of both but I would lean more towards the latter.

  35. I don't think there's a clear cut #2 at all. WrestleStat currently projects Oklahoma State as a solid #2, which I think is fair. And that's with Spratley/Hughes/Jamison/Williams scoring 7 team points between them--which I think is very low. Ohio State has a lot of upside up and down the lineup, but Mendez can't do better than he did last year, and I'd venture to say the same about Welsh. Feldman could take another step up so that shouldn't be ignored. Iowa with Parco and Brands could get to around that 70 point mark. With Ferrari even more. I wouldn't count out NC State either. If Trumble emerges as a contender they could have 7 or 8 AA's and a finalist or two.
    1 point
  36. I have to see Carroll compete at 197 before I call him an AA lock although I think he has tremendous upside at that weight and it would not surprise me a bit to see him as a high AA.

  37. Nope, not good for the sport. Fans want to watch the top competitors. Fans want good duals. Cael is managing things and winning, but the fans are losing. Some of his guys have fewer matches in a season that guys did in the 1940's.

  38. We know he's athletic... probably the most athletic heavyweight we have had this millennium. That said, what does that mean for top speed? He could run a ~4.7s 40, but a ~6s 3 cone drill and that would tell us a lot more about position. Those are elite EDGE numbers. If he does that with a 12 rep bench, then he isn't a DE, he's potentially an OLB... but then he would need higher top end speed, so undesirable there. This is all conjecture, mind you. I don't know any of his stats aside for height/weight, and it is likely that we never will.

  46. Another one that I haven't noticed mentioned and is similar in breadth of sports skills is Jim Brown. Was arguable the best football player (runner at least) and was considered even better at Lacrosse. I believe some rules changes came about because of him. The Premiere Lacrosse League has an award in his name. At Syracuse he also played Basketball (9th round draft pick) and ran track. At 230+ he ran a sub 4.5 40.
