The government is so good at helping through lies that the government (FBI) will lie to itself (FISA court) and the government charged with prosecuting crime (federal courts and prosecutors) will do nothing to stop it! Then the government (congress) will pass a law extending and further enabling the further lying by government to government to "help" citizens even more. Gotta love all this help. We certainly are paying enough of our life's precious energy for it.5 points

Saturday is going to involve a LOT of sitting around in the first couple of rounds for Lee and Zain. As we speak, almost 6 hours into the event, they are just now wrestling the Round of 16 matches for some of the weights of Greco. And freestyle matches take longer than Greco. Historically, freestyle matches take about 9 minutes per match over a day for these events. Using that as our marker, estimated local and US ET for their matches on Saturday are below. These are ESTIMATES. Obviously some mats go faster or slower than planned. And these projected times will eat into the scheduled women's 3rd place matches at 4:45pm, so they may have to make time adjustments based on how long things are going today with Greco. Spencer Lee: Weigh-in: 7:45 to 8:15am (12:45 to 1:15am ET) R32: 10am (3am) R16: 2pm (7am) QF: 4:30pm (9:30am) Semi-finals session starts at 6pm (11am) Zain Retherford: Weigh-in: 7:45 to 8:15am (12:45 to 1:15am ET) R64: 11:20am (4:20am) R32: 12:50pm (5:50am) R16: 3:50pm (8:50am) QF: 5:20pm (10:20pm) Semi-finals session starts at 6pm (11am)3 points

Not to play devil's advocate or anything on the 174lb matchup, but Facundo is something like 8-0 on Hamiti, albeit all results are in MFS. The only 157lber that is smashing Parco is Mesenbrink. Haines isn't going 157 and Kasak and SVN would have competitive matches with him. He would outright beat Sealey. Alirez beats Kasak at 149 and the match with SVN is absolutely a match. Not sure SVN would chase him down. You're disrespecting Alirez here. Cannon has already beaten Nagao. Nagao seems to have regressed since Minny, so not sure why you think he easily wins there? Spratley is absolutely in that match with Lilledahl. It isn't a blowout by any means. Bartlett is the Lewan of 141lbs... he is winning that match 3-1 or 4-1... most likely in OT. Pindrickson under the tutelage of DT and with a healthy knee makes that a match. Especially if DT gets Gwiazdowski on staff... the guy who just exposed Kerk at OTT (Bradley doesn't win that match if he doesn't see how Gwiazdowski exposed he can't chain wrestle). Starocci destroys at whatever weight. Plott-Barr is a match. Fish is going to make a leap with the new training envorinment. I still think Monster Mes makes minced meat of my man Fish there, though. I was deliberately all over to be deliberately all over.3 points

Fun fact: David Taylor is Stiebers lone loss in high school as a freshman (DT was a soph). Also, this isn't the "other OSU" but THE OSU. Don't believe it? Look at the .edu email addresses for all of the supposed "OSU" schools: Oklahoma State: @okstate.edu Oregon State: @oregonstate.edu Ohio State: @osu.edu I arrest my case.3 points

Not really needed now is it? OSU vs PSU 125: Spratley v Lilledahl 133: Hughes v Nagao 141: Alirez v Bartlett 149: Williams v SVN 157: Mesenbrink v Kasak 165: Haines v Sealey 174: Hamiti v Facundo 184: Plott v Barr 197: Carroll v bumb knee Starocci 285: Steveson v Kerk I see 5 NCs for the Pokes and only 1 maybe 2 for the nit-lions.3 points

I wrote about the transfer portal and NIL. It’s on d3wrestle.com but focuses on DI and the changes to the sport. https://www.d3wrestle.com/college-wrestling-and-the-transfer-portal/2 points

thanks for finally admitting what we all already know. the muslim world wants to eviscerate Israel and the only thing stopping them is the US. if you would have said that on page 1, you could have saved us 35 pages and hours of banging our heads against the wall.2 points

If it wasn’t for the US Israel would already be gone.2 points

Did Hamas warn Israel they were about to attack and to leave the area? NO Did Hamas target military targets or civilian targets specifically? Civilian Did Hamas allow aid to come to help the poor Israelis suffering? NO Did Hamas rape and torture Israeli civilians? YES Did Hamas take prisoners and allow them to die? YES I could keep going, but the fact of the matter is Israel has waged a very careful war against Hamas. Hamas was brute force terror. There is a very big difference in the way the two sides have engaged. mspart2 points

This is pretty powerful. Signed by many Jewish students at Columbia University apparently. https://docs.google.com/document/u/1/d/e/2PACX-1vRQgyDhIjZupO2H-2rIDXLy_zkf76RoM-_ZIYsOfn9FkI7TETgRtOfXK9VobMvGh6iEZfDPgALXJTCR/pub Note - this pretty much equates being Jewish with Israel. I do agree with @uncle bernard that this should not be done. I believe one can be anti-Zionist and not be anti-Jew / anti-Semitic. I get that some disagree with that. Still, a powerful read. The fact that there were some anti Israel protestors right after Oct 7 is still mind boggling to me. I remember being disgusted at the time.2 points

Real cop out answer from me here, but DT is the wrestling equivalent of Cael's oldest child. A few mistakes along the way (short-view staying at 74kg for so long), but ultimately 86kg was also a major gamble, there was no guarantee it would work. And, the reality is that whatever DT had to go through along the way are exactly the things that will make him a good coach. Good coaches aren't good just because they are good, they are good because they can identify where in a particular process an athlete, and they have experience overcoming obstacles that they can troubleshoot a way forward for that athlete that fits for their personality and style of wrestling. Cael's "whoopsies" moments with DT are major assets for DT becoming a coach. We think about Dake vs DT, DT has taken way more lumps along the way, and he's way more seasoned mentally in terms of being a coach and relating to others and developing others. DT is more like JB, losing has been so rare, that it monopolizes his mind and dictates everything he will be doing for the next 12 months. A coach needs to be able to digest and move on. So, world and olympic gold aside, the best thing Cael has given DT are the mistakes and hard moments, because they will allow him to be there as a coach. That was what made J Smith (and occasionally Gable) so miserable to be around at times. They hated losing so much that it inhibited their ability to be there for their athletes in a way that connected with them instead of just scared them.2 points

Slight edge to Luke I do think he is a better freestyler than folk styler he has a lot of relatively close matches in folk and Spratley can go with anyone, their u20 best of 3 last year was not very competitive though. Cannon beat Nagao the last time they wrestled, and I think Hughes can beat him as well unless he improves this off season that weight is a toss-up to me. To say Parco gets smashed by what is likely Sealey or some variation of SVN or Kasak I think is a bit extreme. He can probably beat Sealey I would favor SVN and Kasak slightly. I think OSU's best lineup if they got the transfers would be to keep Alirez down at 141 and then whoever sucks less weight out of Parco and Williams to go 149 and the other 157. Williams feels like he can be very good and DT being there should really help his development.2 points

Would love for Omar to lose, but doesn’t seem likely. But last I checked Cori Bush and Jamal Bowman were likely to lose their Democratic primary races to more traditional moderates, so there is that.2 points

Yeah, the fact that the winner of Ochir/Zain will have only a little over an hour of rest and will have wrestled one other solid opponent prior to their matchup--while Kudiev wrestles opponents he can finish quickly--is worrisome. I posted estimated start times on another thread, and I will say that the amount of wait between the R32 and the Ochir match gives me some hope for a good, weight-recovered Zain performance in that match. He won't face Ochir until probably close to 8 hours after weigh in, 3 hours after his R32, and maybe 4.5 hours after the Coman R64 match.2 points
-
I think I wrote off how tough Kudiev may be after Ochir I just watched his match from last years world cup with mamedov (world bronze) just beat abasghadzi to win russian nats. He gassed out here so lets hope zain can push the pace but safely he has a nasty nasty slide bye.2 points

Scientists have shown evidence that warm climate causes co2, not the other way around. High co2 levels mean more plant growth. When warming occurs, it doesn’t mean that the temperature goes to extreme highs. It means that nights and winters don’t cool as much, meaning the climate is more moderate. North Dakota recorded summertime temperatures of 113 degrees in the 1930s, so the temperature has actually cooled since then. Act accordingly.2 points

In Clash of Combat interview from April 2023 he said he graduated from Minnesota. He should talk about it around the time stamp I've linked to in the video below. I suspect he would be started graduate work if he returned to NCAA competition somewhere next year. https://youtu.be/LzUSDGeSNPw?si=hl5aWwRMhr_FKzEw&t=27341 point

No I was implying it was the only thing they could offer for a temporary ceasefire because they need to hide behind the living ones. You are being willfully ignorant repeatedly by claiming Israel should leave gaza with the hostages and hamas intact.1 point

Isreal didn't offer a withdrawal from Gaza. You think these animals can just make up a deal by themselves, agree to it with themselves, and israel has to go along? You didn't explain why what I said was plainly not true.1 point
