aren't schools government entities who decide what's in them? the parents, voicing concerns about sexual content(including graphic illustrations) in the library, rightly, RIGHTLY, questioned the decisions made by these public/government entities. can you buy the book for your kid? by all means, have at it. Can it be in a public library? ask your constituents... in a school? ask the parents... we already did this. i nearly got banned for posting what was in the books. if that doesn't tell that whats in the books is inappropriate for a school library, I Dont' know what does.4 points

Nothing is good for book sales quite like getting it on the "banned book" table at Barnes & Noble. There are definitely over zealous people calling for the removal of books, but picking which books are in a library will always have to be done because they're ultimately finite spaces. It's obviously less fraught because Amazon isn't the government, but I recall people on the left trying to get them to remove Abigail Shrier's Irreversible Damage from the store. Since Amazon controls 75% of the ebook market and 50% of the physical book market, getting them to remove a book is much closer to a ban to me than not having the same book in a middle school library.3 points

With the recent portal activity, Virginia Tech should look like the following now: 125-Eddie Ventresca (Rumors are he is getting close to being 100% healthy again and should be good to go by October which is great news and they need him back to the March 2022 form when he was an All-American with Cooper Flynn hitting the portal) 133-Connor McMonagle (Big time transfer from Lehigh who should contend for AA status) 141-Sam Latona (Moves up a weight again and will be still be tall and long for 141) 149-Caleb Henson (Returning NATIONAL CHAMPION) 157-Rafael Hipolito (Bright future for this kid) 165- ? (I have no idea honestly. I have heard rumblings they are looking to the portal after Connor Brady and Clayton Ulrey elected to enter the portal. Maybe Hipolito goes 165 and Mac Church goes 157?, but I had heard Rafe is a very natural 157. Maybe Luke Robie goes on a big weight gain up from 149/157 where he was this year? Big question mark right now) 174-Lennox Wolak (All American transfer from Columbia) 184-TJ Stewart (Returning All American. There were some rumblings about him entering the portal but he has confirmed he is ALL HOKIE) 197-Sonny Sasso (Andy Smith had a very good NCAA tournament losing in the blood round and is back his last year, but Sasso is so athletic for a 197, and he had a super impressive redshirt season. This was the first time in his career he focused soley on wrestling and he improved a ton so look for continued growth from him) 285-Jimmy Mullen (Very similar situation as 197 with Hunter Catka returning for his last year after a good showing at NCAAs by making the blood round. Mullen though has stopped playing football for VT and is entirely focused on wrestling now. Very good redshirt year and I think he has a big year in 2025) Very deep lineup with 5 previous All Americans in Stewart, Wolak, Ventresca, Latona, and Henson. McMonagle certainly has the ability to AA if he is healthy. Sasso and Mullen are both super athletic for their weights. Big question mark at 165, but this team if healthy could challenge for a team trophy.3 points

i said: anyone here illegally already committed a crime you immediately poo poohed the crime i didn't say they should be arrested.. though perhaps that isn't a bad idea...might deter a few, if they have to be inconvenienced and processed... so as to catch them a second time which isn't just a misdemeanor. also remember seeking asylum doesn't work the way we are allowing it to happen3 points

The wrestling community is extremely conservative. That is incontestable. Like the military, it tends to prioritize loyalty over truth, emotional responses over reason, religious belief over scientific evidence, faith over fact, hierarchy over equality, conformity over iconoclasm, and the like. Accept it or not, that may help athletes to cope with trials and tears, or to comfort themselves in loss. And even to give themselves a blind kind of edge at times in competition. That is all compatible with what we know about evolution and psychology. But it makes for bad journalism, poor science, and terrible art, which are each and all about a serious encounter with reality, the raw and primal stuff of existence that thankfully pushes back against illusions and delusions. Or to be at once more mundane and musical: "Just 'cause you feel it [God, Jesus, Allah, Yahweh] , doesn't mean it's there" (Radiohead)3 points

I understand this and have no dog in the fight. Thing is, we don’t know what Whiting would’ve/could’ve done at B12 or NCAAS. My argument was he earned the spot via wrestle-offs or whatever criteria Mizzou has and out of nowhere it was taken away for whatever reason. What’s done is done, and he’s most likely moving on. Time will tell how it works out. My concern only was that if he was done wrong, and I don’t know the details, is how it would look to other AWA recruits and if it could potentially hurt Mizzou chances in recruiting down the road. To lose a top 40 recruit and 4x state champ always leaves a sting on any program not PSU.2 points

I think NIL is tricky for foreign student-athletes. They come via a student visa, which technically does not allow them to work the same as a domestic student. I think this was in the news recently regarding a basketball player from Canada who could not participate in NIL2 points

ok, so what are YOU talking about. WE have been talking about people crossing the border. other than over staying a visa, how does one become present in a country without crossing the border without being detected.2 points

This is me. Also his articles are can be difficult to read at times due to a high level of spelling and grammatical errors. Add in that he uses polarizing terms that are very rarely true (lock, always, certain etc.) as well as he misremembers results that are very easy to verify against (or for). I absolutely love the guys style, though, and the fact that he is still quite young gives me hope that he will be fine.2 points

That’s an awful long post of stuff you don’t like; to say you don’t want to type what you do like because it’s too much. You need find some joy in your life. Your are looking for things to find wrong, and looking for misery. Choose enjoyment and happiness, be grateful for what you have. You literally were just asked to post your positives, and refused so you could focus more on your negatives. Not a good vibe for life.2 points

Sam Mitchell from Buffalo where he was a national qualifier last year at 197 to Wyoming where he will be heavyweight. Max Elton, part of the Buffalo exodus is transferring to Lock Haven where he will redshirt next year. Northern Illinois gets two good youngsters with plenty of eligibility. Markel Baker from George mason at 125 and Spencer Mooberry from North Dakota State at 197.2 points

I could deal with him saying it about a knee injury or something, but concussion stuff is really scary once your already concussed...UNLESS you are wrestling Bo NIckal who is a neurotic mess when he wrestles someone who is hurt because he can't bear the idea of them getting hurt further.2 points

Brother Blind, everyone I've ever met has agreed that people really need help and go without it. No policy or politican has prevented me from exercising my personal accountability or what I personally consider a social responsibility to help others. The example has me helping others! What do you know of my knowledge about the realities of other people's lives? What informs you that I'm narrow minded on this topic and that you are superior enlightened with understanding? What makes it hard to understand that teaching personal accountability IS PROVIDING help! You can't shame a valid and timelessly proven viewpoint. Virtual signaling? Yep you nailed it. Please send me a thank you letter and flowers. /s ZERO times have I said there were no systemic issues. MULTIPLE times you accuse me of what I have not said. This is one of those examples you ask for receipts on where you are misrepresenting positions.2 points

Wow...you pompous self-righteous child. This is probably a good place to just end my "conversations" with you as it is almost laughable how you assume, judge, label, and downright have no idea what you are talking about. You are an immature, young, Mr./Ms. Know-It-All that at the end of the day has yet to grow up and truly experience life and the knowledge that that provides. You throw around accusations and terms like "privilege" to grown ass men who have lived more life than you probably ever will yet you think you know who they are, what they believe in their heart, and have the audacity to try and lecture them on things they have had to deal with longer than you have been alive. One day, my hope for you, is that you actually grow up and learn what life is really about, and to do something that takes a lot of maturity and humbleness, and that is do some self-reflection. I have, as all the people you argue with constantly have said many many times, I am ALL about helping those less fortunate. I am ALL about equality for every demographic in our society. I am ALL for trying to actually make a difference by volunteering, working at food banks, donating to food banks, coaching for free, buying the less fortunate sports equipment, clothes, shoes, etc. I am very fortunate in life to have what I currently have but understand the hard work and sacrifice it takes to get there...as well as understand and remember where I came from; thus, terms like "privilege" are absolutely ridiculous to me. That does NOT make me un-empathetic for those in unfortunate situations or those different than mine was, it does not mean that I don't think people should receive help to get them in a better spot in life, it does not mean I think I am better than any other single person out there. But it also doesn't mean every single person out there should just blindly receive a pass in terms of self-responsibility and accountability (and no I am not talking about the mentally handicap). Good luck to you TPTD....you'll need it2 points

I can't see Whiting wanting to wrestle a weight (174) that he hasn't been down to since 10th grade, for likely the rest of his career. I would think Wisconsin would offer him everything they can, with everyone they have lost in the upper weights.1 point

I have enjoyed Starrocci and generally root for him. Liked most of his interview at NCAA's. But on social media he keeps stepping on his own dick thinking he looks like a tough guy. He does not. Seems to me much of his unfortunate posturing is out of weakness rather than strength. Might make sense to have some training for athletes on social media communications strategies and brand building. Shorter: it is best take your head out of your ass before you post on social media.1 point

Right with you. I still haven't found my answer about why everyone seems to pile on this poor guy (see what I did there?). He seems like a nice family man who just really loves discussing wrestling. I don't watch the solo videos because I would rather wait for the podcast to get a few different opinions, but his job is to create wrestling content for his company. Those videos are a quick and easy way to do it and get engagement. The wrestling community has a tendency to eat their own and we are far too small of a sport to put down anyone who in good faith is trying to grow it.1 point

Has nothing to do with Hawks personally. I don’t know any of them outside of being a fan. What I saw is Whiting beat both as mentioned before, he then wrestled in the starter spot for most of the year only to have Smith give that spot to Hawks for the post season. Why, no clue it just happened. Im from Mo, St Charles to be exact and not Wisconsin. I’ve been watching Hawks since his Holt days. However, I am excited to see Sinclair, whether that’s 184/197. What concerns me is the details of how it went down, details I don’t know, but this could be potentially bad for Smith regarding AWA guys. If and I’m not saying it was done wrongly will this turn or change how AWA guys feel towards the program costing Mo recruits down the road.1 point

I am not replying to you but to some of the other posters on here. That particular mask blocks particles 3 micron and larger. They are useless against Covid. The Covid 19 virus is .07 microns. The N95 mask which no one gave us to wear blocks particles .3 microns and larger. Better but still not very effective. Remember the covid 19 is .07 microns. the hair on your head is 70 microns in diameter to give you an idea how small the covid 19 is. Then you have all the gaps around the mask because it is a poor fit on your face. But if makes you feel better to wear a mask ,wear it.1 point

All of this is so stupid. I agree with VakAttack about this ridiculous obsession with Pyles, fueled by idiots like Mineo as if he owns some moral high ground. I think Pyles does good work, he's an excellent match commentator, and from people who know and work with him, I've heard he's a pretty decent guy. Not sure the same can be said for the folks who bad mouth him almost daily (ie Mineo, Kania).1 point
