Hey friends, haven't seen any Yarygin discussion on here so I figured I'd start it up. I've got full results with some matches embedded here: https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/11957042-2024-yarygin-wrestling-tournament-brackets-results Nothing too crazy has happened but Sadulaev is back and wasn't really challenged in any of his matches on his way to the finals today. 74 kg finals should be really good between Kadimagomedov and Baev.3 points

Should be a close dual by matchups... My Predictions: McKee dec Peterson 3-0 Minn Shawver dec Wells 3-3 Vombaur OT dec Moore 6-3 Minn Roberts dec Cetta 9-3 Minn Blockhus MD Clark/De Santis 13-3 Minn Brenner dec White 16-3 Minn Turley MD Skillings 16-7 Minn Salazar dec Soldano 19-7 Minn Poznanski dec Joles 19-10 Minn Slavikouski dec Tabor 19-13 Minn 125 and 141 are the matches I'm most looking forward to.3 points

I thought this was going to be a close match and that did indeed turn out to be the case. Little Rock was helped a great deal by the win by FALL in the first match at 125 lbs with Little Rock's unranked Jeremiah Reno pinning Oregon State's # 15 ranked Brandon Kaylor to go out to a 6-0 lead at the start of last night's dual. Little Rock is now 2-0 in PAC 12 duals this season with wins over Arizona State and Oregon State. Surely this must be one of the signs of the apocalypse............right? (J/K) 125: Reno FALL #15 Kaylor (4:26) 133: # 13 Bailey MD #28 Whisenhunt 13-4 141: # 18 Belton DEC Keck 7-5 149: # 18 Singleton DEC Dutton 11-8 157: Crosby DEC # 27 M. Bianchi 9-7 165: # 26 J. Bianchi MD Fouret 10-0 174: Olguin TF Abdon 20-4 (Olguin up from 165 and Little Rock without # 18 ranked Tyler Brennan) 184: # 4 Munoz DEC # 18 Wills 11-8 197: # 11 Little DEC # 28 Rademacher 7-2 HWT: # 28 Hill DEC # 17 McDermott 4-1 Ranking from Intermat other than Josiah Hill at 285 lbs (from WrestleStat) and Triston Wills at 184 lbs (also from WrestleStat)3 points

Wow, Gophers with a number of short time victories to quiet the crowd and win the match. Fun to see Wells take it from Shawver who has had McKee’s number for years.3 points

I see 2. There are a couple years without brackets on wrestlingstats so could be there. Obviously had to be early years. I knew the 1936 Unl situation as I knew Scobey (Lehigh) only had 3 in the weight so the 3rd had to be one. Dell Shockley- Ok St 1929 115 Gordon DuPree - Oklahoma State 1936 Unl3 points

Dads should not be in the corner or anywhere near a mat when their kids are wrestling. I have seen too many assistant coach dads who do a fine job for every wrestler but then lose their minds when their own kid is on the mat. A parent is certifiably insane when his/her kid is on the mat and must be protected from his own actions. I was. My dad was. The dads should be in the stands, preferably near the top of the stands to get a big buffer between themselves and the mat when their own sons are on the mat. We had a dad, an assistant coach on the team, lose a team point at the county tournament because he could not contain his mouth during his son's match. Old story: A friend of mine was sitting in the front row of the bleachers when his kid was wrestling an intense high level HS match. His emotions overcame him and he jumped forward and ran onto the mat. Two steps onto the mat he realized what he had done and made an immediate right hand turn and ran out of the gym. His kid was winning and won the match but the intensity and emotion overtook the dad. The next match when his kid walked on the mat to wrestle I eased next to the dad in the front row, hooked my leg over his, grabbed his belt, and then told him to let'r'rip. He was going to see the whole match or be dragging me onto the mat with him and we'd both get kicked out. He looked at me with manic eyes, said a very intense "Thank you!!", and proceeded to lean, wiggle, thrust, skooch, slide, and perform every other bleacher wrestling move in tandem with his son. But he did not leave the bleachers and was back to his calm self 15 seconds after the match ended. I had 2 bruises3 points

Bormet and a few of Michigans 6th year seniors got really cocky with OSU fans early on but the Bucks wrestled the second half of that dual with a passion. I think Bormet thought he was going to coast after 157 but totally blew it. Loved his sarcastic clap at the end when Feldman topped Davison because he couldn’t believe his little eyes. Awesome battle.2 points

I don't think Nokhodi was ever registered but Savadkouhi lost round one at 86kg to Tazhitin Akaev who's really solid. Akaev just beat Amanulla Gadzhimagomedov last month - that's who beat Artur Naifonov (world/Olympic bronze) last year at Russian Nationals. So not a bad loss for Savadkouhi but he's not the same guy he was at 79kg. Savadkouhi also lost to Hadi Vafaeipour in December at Iranian nationals. His chances of making the Olympic team right now are pretty slim.2 points

This. A huge part of generating interest in any type of activity, sports included, is to tie in some type of narrative. Major media outlets know this and have worked these angles for decades in order to generate buzz and increase ratings- to great effect. Recall last year's NCAA Women's basketball tournament, where the national sports media latched onto the LSU-Iowa matchup by framing it through the lens of the team's respective stars (Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark). The media covered these two players exhaustively in the lead up to and following the finals, and created enormous buzz by comparing and contrasting their play style, life experiences, etc. Throw in a touch of racially-based controversy, and the end results speak for themselves: 10 million viewers, an all-time record for any women's basketball event. If Flo wants to occasionally focus on narrative-based coverage of young athletes, and these stories result in any additional interest in our sport, then I am all for it.2 points

It’ll take longer to collect it than it will to raise it. The only physical evidence I am aware of, a dress that was saved for its possible contamination with DNA from the alleged episode, was found to have been manufactured about a decade after the timeframe of the incident, sans DNA.2 points

I think bormet would have done whatever is necessary to avoid forfeiting....in the same breath its kind of bush league to not be on top of skin stuff...but it may have been really bad timing, or maybe semly is an idiot...regardless michigan is an eyesore at this point.2 points

yes, she listens to them (Stick Figure/Rebelution) all the time. she's going to see The Elovaters wednesday. we were together for like 6 years, then split for like a decade and got back together last year. sometime during the split is when she got into it, and i know very little about it lol2 points

Dems like to run around virtue signaling that they want whats best for the lower class but they don't have the mental capacity to process what that is. endorsing mass / illegal immigration is endorsing tougher times for America's lower class. so either get a clue or spare me how much you care about people.2 points

Feldman with the clutch win over Davison, he's in the big boys club now. What a comeback from the Buckeyes. They were getting absolutely beaten down up until Hepner started his comeback.1 point
