Yeah, but when you see a bunch of trees, you don’t think, “Man, these people really care about the environment.” Seeing a forest of wind turbines, on the other hand, you know they care.3 points

This isn't public knowledge yet but this is going on behind the scenes rn.... JR Worlds are in Poland and Poland recently (like in the last couple days) said they will not allow RUS or BLR in. UWW tells them they have to but apparently POL isn't budging at the moment. They (UWW) are looking for solutions. I'm told UWW won't cancel JR Worlds. They are looking at other locations. Kazakhstan, Aman Jordan, or Azerbaijan. Keep in mind, most of our delegate would have to get Visas to these places.2 points

Because rich people can afford to pay bail and poor people can't. And when people can't bail out, they take plea deals to get out of jail, even on weak cases, because they can't afford to wait the minimum of 6 months in jail to get to a trial to defend themselves.2 points

Can we, as a wrestling message board non-wrestling topic community, in a show of bipartisanship, agree that if Congress was on Survivor, we’d all hope MTG to be voted off first… or be eaten by a bear?2 points

5 finalists for AWA in Junior FS. 6 total with Danny Heiser at 16U 145 lbs. Interestingly, the finalists from AWA represent multiple gyms and coaches under the AWA banner: Madison (Spray): Haakon Peterson and Danny Heiser Mequon (Max Askren): Mirasola twins, Braeden Scoles (also AA's Charlie Millard and Ben Bast) Hartland (Ben Askren): Noah Mulvaney2 points

To be fair, every city has great areas to live, no matter how bad a rap the city as a whole has. The problem is when the “bad” areas begin encroaching on the “good” areas, whether through mandatory affordable housing units or the bad actors from bad areas using the good areas to hunt for victims… seeing a lot of that in Chicago right now with spree armed robberies and car jackings.2 points

Well, when you basically legalize various forms of crime, crime stats no longer hold much weight. If you know nothing will happen to the offender, why would you even bother reporting it? Just to piss them off?2 points

As I was looking at Fargo Junior brackets, I noticed an entry in juniors from an East Coast state. The wrestler is the same age as my son, whom is going into his sophomore year at an NCAA D1 institution. This wrestler graduated in 2022, then chose to attend an East Coast prep school for a post-graduate year. Junior eligibility clearly says you have four years to compete in Fargo when you enter your freshman year. The clock does not pause if you decide to go for another year of high school after you graduate. The same wrestler placed in NHSCA, but I am not 100% sure of NHSCA eligibility rules. Clearly USA Wrestling, isn't checking this stuff; I believe that they leave most of it to the state associations. There probably needs to be better oversight here. Really crazy that our sport is coming to this. Shame on the states and on the parents. Wonder how many similar situations there are this week?1 point

To quote Ernie McCarcken when he wins the million dollars, "All I know is I finally got enough money I can buy my way out of anything. I can do anything I want. And I can get myself a lawyer. And I'll walk. Finally, Big Ern is above the law."1 point

All you need to do is go to the Colorado HS state tournament to understand why. Sure, they can get 10 mats on the floor, but the mats are right up against the dasher boards and the scoring tables are in corners or in penalty boxes. The 200x85 NHL-sized ice sheet makes the new arenas pretty tough too. St. Louis had the Olympic ice (200x100) for a short time, so their floor space is wider, which is why head tables and scoring tables at the Enterprise Center were optimal. New arenas that have hockey aren't going wider than NHL boards with their floors as much as they used to.1 point

As a Denver-area resident, I would love to have the NCAA's here. Unfortunately, the Ball Arena cannot host the tournament - the floor space is too small. There are no other venues in CO that could host.1 point

Damn, being bilingual and that proficient in English, they should have no problem getting jobs… In Chicago, they could make $40/hr with full benefits DOE… or are you telling me these people have no clue what the signs they’re holding say, but rather some white people made them and paid these people $12/hr to stand there holding them?1 point

100% agreed when she lost in 2016 Hillary went all wacko about a stolen election and made up some bs about russian collusion. and the media helped her. it was kind of like a thief/murderer calling the police to complain that the stuff they stole was now taken. btw it wasn't a surprise. Hillary herself was complaining... why am i not 20 points ahead...1 point

The 8 teams on their schedule represent 8 of the top 9 teams at the 2023 Big Ten tournament, and 8 of the 9 highest finishing B1G teams at 2023 NCAAs. The 9th team was Iowa.1 point

This was their first year competing in the postseason at the D1 level. They scored a single team point at the Big 12 championships. They had last competed in the D2 championships back in 2018. I don't know what the timeline usually is for moving up a division, but this seems slower than I'd expect. This was their 5th year in D1 and they participated in the postseason for the first time. Being post season eligible in the third season would be closer to my expectation, but maybe COVID slowed things down, they had trouble finding a conference, or I am just wrong. Mesenbrink transferred from Cal Baptist to PSU. I wouldn't expect a recruit of his stature to commit to a program that wouldn't be eligible for D1 postseason competition by his second year in college, so if they moved up the timeline it was at most 1 year.1 point

Because in the US we interpret freestyle activity violations 1:1 as folkstyle stalling. It's about holding center and not engaging in negative wrestling but we are known to hold an "Iowa Style" mentality because it has been engrained for generations. Taking a shot when you're backing up to the cylinder won't hold water internationally like if you are trying to avoid a stall call in folk.1 point

Cmon, Vak. you're being disingenuous. the whitewashing of language is both ridiculous and pervasive. someone (stanford maybe) did away with calling it 'field work'. 'birthing people' for what used to be known as 'women' etc etc. it's not the end of the world, but it's comical.1 point

Mens 57kg- Rei Higuchi is in the finals 65kg is tomorrow with Otoguro competing. Womens 53kg- Okuno vs Kiyooka. Early in the match, Okuno goes for a single and slips a little, Kiyooka capitalized and got the td. Okuno hit a really nice low single later on to make it 2-2. Late in the match, Kiyooka got a td right on the edge to win, 4-2. After Fujinami pinned Shidochi, she pinned again in the 2nd round when she was up 2-1. Fujinami vs Kiyooka in the finals. 59kg- Nagamoto(2017 WC) beats Sakano in the semis and beats Tokuhara in the finals, 6-3. Nagamoto was the 2017 cadet world silver. If Risako loses tomorrow, she can challenge for this spot. 62kg finals- Motoki vs Inagaki. Motoki scores first with a nice single and turn, 4-0. No other scores during the first period. With about a minute left, Motoki gets a feet to back, 8-0. Motoki the 62kg rep. 68kg- I was confused as to what was going on because I had incorrectly thought it was Kawai vs Ishii in the finals, but they did another round robin for the top 4 from yesterday. I will say, Furuichi looked really, really good down at 68kg. Ishii barely hung on against Furuichi, 5-3. Furuichi almost had a td right at the buzzer. Morikawa vs Ishii- Morikawa gets a 4 early, Ishii battles back, but it had a wild finish with Morikawa going for a single at the edge, both getting into a scramble position, Morikawa is able to stand up, holding Ishii's legs and turns Ishii to get exposure points. Kawai vs Furuichi- Kawai just edges out Furuichi by 3 right at the end of the match. Furuichi just about had a td right at the buzzer that would have given her the win, but Kawai slips out and goes behind. FINALS: Morikawa vs Kawai- Morikawa gets a td, then a pushout to make it 3-0. The rest of the second period, neither could get in clean, Morikawa wins, 3-0 and is the 68kg rep. 76kg- Kagami is 2-0 and it looks like she'll be the rep but you never know. Round robin here, too.1 point
