  1. Lee chose bottom against Barnett and reversed and pinned him this year. That should serve as an interesting preview for how his match with Glory will go.

  3. Maybe he just wants to wrestle but not have to cut so much weight? Why would he move away from an Olympic weight to a non olympic weight? That makes no sense. He was WC, runner up twice and 3rd at 57. Unless he is running away from Spencer Lee, the goatiest of the goatest goats. I'm guessing when it comes to Final X, he'll be at 57. I don't see him running away from anyone. mspart

  6. You're telling me that a 4x and returning world medalist is not scared of a college wrestler with exactly one senior tournament's worth of experience? I don't buy it. He reads these message boards and knows Spencer Lee is inevitable.

  7. Definitely true, just read this on the tOSU wrestling site. I'm really bummed about this and feel super bad for him; I've been following his career since he pinned a kid from my son's high school team in about 15 seconds in the Colorado state tournament. Would have been tough for him to AA this year but he was definitely capable of sneaking in. The irony is that the weight class really clears out next year and he would have been in a great position to do even better had he redshirted this year. But I don't think that would even be an option for him at this point. And it's good for kids to get on with their lives, not stay in college forever (seven years of college down the drain!)

  8. Kids Wrestling has gotten genuinely disturbing. These parents sit around the mats and scream like they're at dog fights. And you cannot get to the Mat without fighting your way through like it's a rave. I took my Nephew to a kids tournament, 800 kids in a gym that shouldn't have had more than 400. Took 10 hours to Wrestle 3 matches. You put the kids level of experience on there. He'd only wrestled maybe 5-6 tournaments. He'd been going to a club for parts of two years. I put him as a 2 out of 3. 1=Beginner, 2=some experience, 3=High level. That was new to me. He won the tournament, but he didn't look like a young Kolat or anything. Got taken down each time, reversals, regular kids Wrestling. He was confronted by this fat bald guy as we were waiting to leave(getting his bracket and medal). The guy was yelling at HIM for the group they put him in with. To be honest, I wasn't even sure if he beat his kid when they were Wrestling because I wasn't really keeping score. Well, he won. I guess 11-8 or something. Who gives a shit really? I've never seen a former Wrestler out there getting super worked up about a kids tournament, ESPECIALLY at that age. That's some toxic shit no matter what your definition of toxic is. You constantly see kids crying as the parents are in the corners screaming. The Mom's are just as bad as the Dad's. It's insane. I don't recall my Dad EVER saying anything to me before a match other than "be ready," and "make sure your shoes are tied." It kinda became a joke as he continued through College. But I don't think I could have taken it...having one of those Dad's who lived through you. From what I can tell, things have gotten exponentially worse in the past 10-15 years since I was in Youth tournaments. He got nervous and he got into the matches, but he never tried coaching me unless I asked and he was just...quiet in the tournament. I assume this is what people are talking about when they talk about toxic. Just how out of control some parents get, the screaming, the yelling, yelling at kids. The kids throwing fits when they lost and nothing. Parents need to just...be better. You wonder why you have fewer officials or why you see parents fighting with kids.

  11. I don't think they had any other choice. They are getting Chlebove ready to take over at 33 next year for McGee. Figs has 25 nailed down. Vasquez might have just had too many injury issues to overcome or he might need a full year to be healthy. Unless everybody moves up at least somebody is sitting next year between Vasquez, Ysa, Ramos, and Parco. Good problem to have I guess.

  12. Before loosing Heinselman and Vasquez OSU and ASU were 8th and 15th, respectively, when averaging across the three rakings services: After loosing them they fall to... 8th and 15th? Heinselman was worth 3.8 expected points, but OSU had a 5 expected points advantage over Michigan going in. Vasquez was worth 1.2 expected points, but ASU had a 1.8 expected points advantage over UNI going in.

  16. Here is what you wrote: I think it’s an indicator that they don’t think he can make 133 going forward Why would that be an indicator? Because they are burning his redshirt? They are simply using him at 141 because of the Vasquez injury. They can't use him at 133 this year obviously - but that doesn't mean that he can't make 133 next year. The options were to get Ramos down to 141 when he's been at 149 or put Chlebove up to 141 from where he had been at 133. I am not sure what the situation was with those two guys - but there are others on here like @SunDevilthat know more about the program. Separate from the reasoning behind it, I agree and personally I think they should have went with Chlebove in order to save Ysa's redshirt, but that's the choice they made. And who is to say that Ysa didn't want to burn his shirt and wrestle?

  32. My point of view was that Twitter has always been Twitter. It's been moderated poorly before. It's been overvalued before. I contend that all of the problems with Twitter, financial and otherwise aren't new. That says nothing about Musk possibly making it worse or maybe even finishing it off completely. If he did I'd say good riddance, hopefully to him and Twitter. Something new will eventually be born taking the good from Twitter and making it better. Maybe that will come from Musk, maybe it won't. I don't care. Try giving that opinion and others get their panties all wadded up and you are accused of drinking piss. Yeah, real intellectuals. Thank you for clarifying your position.

  34. I had not read it, but just did now. It is not wrong. By one, common, legally required standard Twitter was not profitable. I am just saying that is not the only, or commonly used measure. But there is no point for the WSJ to get into subtleties on a supporting point to a broader story.

  37. In my experience, the Fox Sports app is basically the app that BTN uses. In other words, what BTN offers live is what's live on the Fox Sports app. Nothing more. For other sessions, or replays. You'll need to use B1G+. (One last note - use my advice as a starting point and double check. Streaming offerings and policies are always changing and are anything but simple.)

  41. I've used the Roku channel and Apple TV app regularly and haven't had any problems. Also used various web browsers to stream from the site - again no problems. I recommend all of these. I have not used either the iPhone/iPad app or the Android app - sounds like maybe one of these is problematic.

  43. Here's a little history lesson for the board: Before World War II, the committee put out these pre-seeds: 1. Germany 2. Japan 3. Great Britain 4. Russia 5. Italy 6. Austria 7. France 8. THE U.S. OF ******-******* A. They actually seeded the French surrender monkeys ahead of Uncle Sam. But their chicanery failed! The United States won both brackets, in Europe and in the Pacific. My friends, if you believe---if deep in your heart you really believe---in our country, in our flag, in our way of life, then you know that the ILLINI will triumph over all odds and against all comers just like the good old USofMFingA. As history repeats itself.

  44. 2 or 3 seed is a non-issue for almost anyone. The person who cares most is the 6 seed. Is Byrd a bigger hurdle for Nagao or is Mendez? Otherwise, 2 or 3 seed is a nothing burger. Now 3 seed instead of 4 seed is a really big deal. Amine is a bit of a surprise to me. Record and head-to-head matter but it also matters HOW one wins when seedings are close. All of Amine's matches are nail biters and he shows no offense until the last minute of regulation. That lack of manly aggression should be penalized when another wrestler who opens himself up to risk has a similar or nearly similar record. For seeding purposes I think we need do something analogous to how the NHL treats OT. An OT win is less of a win than a regulation time win. A freak pin in OT is not at all comparable to a first period beat down. The first takedown at the 8 minute mark is much less of a win than a 12 - 5 takedown/tilt/ride/release domination win. Amine has not earned the 2 seed. He should be 4. Maybe the age old question applies here: Is seeding a reward for demonstrated performance or is seeding a forecast on who will win a soon to happen head to head match? I have Amine as the 4 for performance. I can see where some (most?) would have him favored over Kennedy and Facundo in the next upcoming match.

  45. Arujau is definitely not a sleeper. 133 along with many other weight classes just don't get discussed much on this board. The board spends more time talking about if Spencer Lee could beat Cael Sanderson when in their primes or is so & so a "meanie".

  46. Aye, but there lies the rub - are the rankings that good? The way I see it, the top 24 guys, maybe more, are going to qualify one way or another. But the current system also provides a way for the guys who might be on the wrong side of the bubble to "play their way" in. This also makes the conference tournament more meaningful. I do think the current system is also WAY better than the old system (was replaced when, say 15-20 years ago?) where the conference allocations were awarded based on prior year's AA count per conference, and the conferences could allocate among the weight classes as they chose to. And I like that each conference gets that minimum one qualifier per weight class. It gives every conference some representation, and a chance to prove that sometimes the pundits are wrong. Let's go, LIU!!
