I don't like digging up bones, but I did see in the article that he had legal issues in Avery County, NC. What the hell was he doing out there? I know he isn't skiing during wrestling season, so maybe he likes hiking. It's a wonderful area of Western NC, but there's not much in Avery County.

Ferrari situation is really interesting. (what else is new)

nebraska essentially said they weren't renewing his deal.

the obvious thing would be for him to go to Iowa w/ Angelo.

but Beth Goetz won't allow it. that's from AJ himself.

so now what?

if it's not iowa, does the family look for a place that will take both (or all three) ?

the only thing we know right now is AJ won't be at Nebraska and won't be at Iowa.

If/when Aj lands somewhere, and it being his last year, what are the odds he keeps up the good-boy-religious appearance/act?

Sometimes seeds are planted and the individual has no idea how to actually nurture that seed. It’s always continual growth…even those that have the “appearance/act” seemingly “right” aren’t doing all the things they should to help it reach its full potential. He’s new to the game…wether it’s instant or 20 years before it all starts to really click the only thing anyone should do is support him in ways clearly better than he’s been given.

Are we sure AJ even has another year?   If Edmond Ruth doesn’t have another year due to the clock, why would AJ?

I believe he qualified for an Olympic redshirt one of those years.

It bottles the mind how, even with a wad of cash, ISU can be a draw for these fellas. They have had just one "good" tournament in the last 5 years. The rest have been disappointments if not disasters.

I'll give credit where credit is due though: nobody peaks for a december dual against Iowa like Iowa State

i'm hearing Jordan Williams' grades/transcripts will make it hard for him to get in anywhere.

i know last summer he had to scramble to take a bunch of classes to get into iowa.

That’s unfortunate. I was hoping he ends up back at LR. Not sure if that door closed when he left though.

Who has the more lax requirements?

Lock Haven?

Carr's win over Mesenbrink could have been huge. It gave Desser and co the opportunity to say, "Here, we beat the unbeatable." Couldn't follow it up.

not entirely aware of what's the issue. it very well could be progress-to-degree.

which I don't believe can be worked around regardless of what the academic standards are.

you have to have X amount of credits towards your degree based on the years you've been in school.

there's probably someone on the board here that can speak on the subject better than I can.

Unless AJ's problem is GPA or just not taking enough classes, a lot of athletes would get around the progress towards degree requirement by declaring their major as General Studies, Liberal Arts, Interdisciplinary Studies or something around those lines to remain eligible and take cupcake classes while they compete. I don't know if that's old thinking or allowed by the NCAA today.

I think that was related to Jordan Williams.

You have to complete 20% of your degree each year with enforcement starting after year 2. After 2 years you have to have 40% complete, 3 years is 60%, etc. These can be completed during the summer as the determination is done prior to the semester.

The only thing you can't get around is previous fall/spring semester requirements like minimum credit hours (18).

Here is a good rundown

Iowa State has to figure out a way to keep guys healthy. What they are doing now is not working.

Such a mismanagement of talent. always trying to cut people down to fit their "best possible" lineup, and people just keep getting injured. Swiderski, Paniro, Frost, Ech, Zerban

That's unfortunate.  I tell friends all the time - there are kids that wrestle while they are in school and there are kids that are at school to wrestle.  Sad in that there are such few career and earnings opportunities in wrestling that all kids don't use wrestling to get the best education or opportunities they can.

Brian Swaw has been a great follow for the portal so far this year.  Here is his latest:

Had two friends in the AS program at IL. Just about a sure fire way to land a great job after you graduate.

Ferrari's to Ok State would be hilarious....yet intriguing.

Especially if he won another NC there.
