  1. Had tears in my eyes watching ben come back and then the interview afterward. Wrestling is so cool, grateful to be a fan of this sport.
  2. Nolf trains with Tyler Messinger, who works at Flo Sports. They've talked about it several times on FRL. He was a 32 or 33 seed at NCAA's a few years ago.
  3. Yes even in interviews post match or at intermission Bono would remark on his teams conditioning. Noone is saying this isn't important, it obviously is, but he obviously takes pride in it, over skill development, recovery, etc.
  4. Seems like some rest and a little time off would be good for Mendez
  5. Then Bono can continue to do what he's doing...which is average at best. It doesn't really matter whose fault it is, its more about how can we come to a resolution so the best in state aren't going to other schools. That takes swallowing pride, putting aside ego, for the bigger vision of a top tier Big ten team. And yes, maybe he has done that...or maybe he hasn't.
  6. Bono needs to swallow his pride and make amends with whatever caused the riff between Askren Academy and the University. It is silly not to be doing everything you can do to have, at the very least, the top recruits from AWA having Wisconsin in their top three.
  7. I saw in a video David Carr posted recently they were wrestling together at an OTC camp
  8. Tervel is one of the best assistants out there, no doubt. Nebraska needs to do everything they can do keep him.
  9. 1. Iowa beats Nebraska in the dual every year 2. Manning is having the best performances of his coaching career 3. Nebraska does look silly for saying "built not bought" and then advertising for the portal 3. Nebraska seems to be strategically using the portal better than Iowa 4. Iowa needs an Assistant like Tervel 5. I hope both teams land some big team portal names this year
  10. Sounds like maybe you have some insight, maybe you should say something! There needs to be a paradigm shift in youth wrestling (probably sports in general). Unfortunately, when dads/coaches have the Emotional Intelligence of the 10 year olds they're coaching, this is what happens
  11. Poor kid. Super insecure Dude shouldn't be allowed to coach. Kids going to burn out and hate wrestling.
  12. Ech's preferred weight is 149, and I would have loved to see him there this year. I'm alluding to the fact that despite having a log jam of talent between 141-157, the last 2-3 years, they always manage to screw it up.
  13. Such a mismanagement of talent. always trying to cut people down to fit their "best possible" lineup, and people just keep getting injured. Swiderski, Paniro, Frost, Ech, Zerban
  14. Norman coming in to be the 184? I like Minto, Norman, McDaniel, Ziola
  15. He can indeed stay big, as many people do, if he wants to. Just making an observation that I think he is a contender if he's quicker and more agile.
  16. Yes, he got way too big in a short amount of time. 240-250 with more agility and Amos Can win the whole damn thing. He does seem to have a bit of a mental block in closing matches out.
  17. Cade needs to go, perfect 4 year heavy for nebraska, and has a great coach in Tervel, wouldnt be surprised if he's top 5 next year, McDanel is progressing, I think a redshirt would be silly.
  18. I like Norman in the mix at 184
  19. Maybe he just really loves to wrestle.
  20. hahahaha, what a humble apology
  21. What was their pitch? Come to Aimes, cut too much weight, get injured before NCAA's, go 1-2?
  22. Completely different from Aiden Valencia who was elated, confident, authentic, grateful, and humble...and much easier to listen to.
  23. Not to mention guys in Spartan Combat not being able to stay healthy. Yianni, Vito, Shapiro.
  24. Agree some of his guys look worn down, I think some of it is a year 2 head coach, maybe overcompensating working the guys a little too hard, some of it is the guys just being true freshman. I think alot of Swiderski's is the high emotional toll he puts on himself
  25. Seeing lots of guys worn out physically and mentally. Iowa State, Ohio St, Wisconsin and Cornell are sticking out to me. Overtraining just cannot happen anymore. Dresser guys are always injured or cutting too much weight--which is probably why they are always injured. Frustrating. Everyone works hard in Div I, there's no doubt wrestlers must train hard, but when will these coaches understand the sport is evolving. Over training is dead, mindful, regulated athletes who enjoy the sport are the future (look at 133)
