And yet there's only one person continually bringing up politics on a wrestling board....3 points

Somehow it seemed OK with the ASU/Iowa/SDSU movement, despite it being months after the portal closed. Trepham, too. Trepham lost to Trumble in a wrestle off and transferred to Lehigh after starting the season at NCST.3 points

If your hatred for one man evolves so that you spread hatred over your country…your country that allows you to freely talk all the shiite that you do, among many many other great things…you are part of the problem.3 points

Brother we just watched Gable Steveson not be able to do that. It's not as easy as all that.3 points

I found a new visualization that I wanted to experiment with, so here goes. Looking at the 16 and 33 seed era (2014-2025) and filtering down to teams that qualified all ten wrestlers (35 teams), I took a look at what their average seed was (thin vertical black line to the far right in each row), and how they performed relative to that seed (red/green bars). No real surprise here. The higher the average seed, the easier it is to beat the seed. But there are no guarantees, as two of the worst performances came from teams in the bottom quarter.2 points

The second chart is interesting. Two takeaways from that at a glance: 1) The old PAC schools were underrated, historically speaking. Presumably due to lack of competition and rankers not respecting their schedules. Kind of doubt that will still be the case moving forward. and 2) Big 10 guys in the middle tier of their respective weight classes tend to outperform seeds. I think people are generally aware of this--a Big 10 wrestler with a ~.500 record can still be quite dangerous at NCAAs, but will probably be seeded in the 20's. Interesting to see some data backing it up.2 points

I didn’t think supporting a duel championship was a thing in PSU threads …. oh wait. D-U-E-L. My bad.2 points

I'm no fan of T-Rump nor the rest... But this is more of what I was referring too, "It astonishes me such a tough wrestler comes from such a privileged background." But who f'ing cares really. Folks believe what they believe...2 points

Yep...50% of my team were poor...45% were middle class and about 5% were upper middle. Very few "rich kids." Cheap sport, toughened you up and everyone could participate and earn their spot. I was in the poor group. Grew up on food stamps even with my dad working and doing side jobs. Hunted down cans and bottles for my spending money. Bought used shoes and used my brothers hand me downs. All sports have changed a lot.2 points

I don't think you are upsetting anyone, but providing entertainment to those who wonder how proud you must be to demonstrate how intellectually dishonest you are. It is a very special type of stupid.2 points

Yeah. I was discussing that with a friend at work this morning earlier. I remember when I was a kid nearly all the toughest wrestlers were poor kids, especially if they were farmers. Now you have guys going to various wrestling academies and getting college level coaching starting in grade school, it's insane.2 points

A lot of the better guys these days are at least "upper middle class." Makes it easier to afford the best coaches and to travel the country. And this can include a number of sports. not just wrestling.2 points

Iowa fans have long clamored for a pushout rule in folkstyle. Well in Mocco vs Mirasola the wrestler who scored all the takedowns lost and the wrestler who won scored all his points on pushouts. Putting aside that the Iowa recruit lost, did Iowa fans enjoy seeing a match decided by who was better at pushouts?1 point

If this theoretical D administration says you’re an illegal alien, arrests you, and throws you on a plane to Iran… …you’re in an Iranian prison for life. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

A) y’all wanna run Aoc. So not super worried. b) he’s an illegal Alien. Not a citizen. So your stretching as far as you can.1 point

Another fantasy loss for Dake. I got Dake over Father Time +/- 5 years. He's just too close with Mother Nature.1 point

You realize Duke is a HS Junior, right? One whopping year apart, disturbing for sure. I thought they were even closer in actual age, aren’t they? They’re both extremely elite besides any of that, any win at that level and of that caliber is a good win. You’ve got some more uncontrollable spite going on, manage it for hell sake1 point

A sophomore who is out of U17 eligibility. Jayden James is a grade older and a year younger for example. Miller lost, Bassett lost, Mocco lost...and we're to the "questioning the officiating" page in your program for those following along.1 point

Freestyle isn’t as exciting unfortunately. Used to be years ago…. Pre ball grab and the other rules. Not so much any more.1 point

I don’t disagree/argue the push out guy won the match. I think the rules are just stupid. So fair. But. Please don’t pollute folkstyle with this nonsense. Could you imagine a push out rule at NCAAs with those tiny little mats given how small the venues are.1 point

Push outs suck. I think Mendez won by a lot of push outs in one of his matches.1 point
